Ah yes, Admonition, the Canon where the Foundation created the God Emperor of Mankind to fight off a giant Starfish god. They could take on 40k.

The Admonition canon is really fun due to just how OP the Foundation is in it.

One massive hint towards the identity of the entity the weapon was trying to destroy is in the title of the file itself. After all, the item number of this "Termination Attempt" is SCP-6820. Or, in other words, SCP-682[0]. I also find it very interesting, this idea that SCP-682 is simply nothing more and nothing less than the concept of The Difference Between Life and Death.

Just in case you didn’t know this SCP is part of the Admonition series. They’re are currently 4 episodes and one intermission out in the series. Unfortunately you can't just send 682 to space or some other dimension. It's basically conceptually linked to the planet Earth, specifically the planet Earth of its "home" reality. CLARIFICATION OF THINGS I want to point out that SCP-6820 is in the ADMONITION Canon, which itself is a sub canon to the Site-17 Deepwell Catalog. Going from 682 and how the SCP cosmology works Humanity/Life ceasing to exist will/should also make 682 to cease to exist(at some point)in the effected universe. 682's lizard form is not his true form.he has two other forms Explaination: 682 is a abstract concept existing in the Noosphere ,a kind of collective unconscious+ conceptual-space and is also simultaneously one of the "Universal constants" Going from I.H. Pickman's Proposal and placeholder_mcd : You can think of the SCP Universe as a computer. In this computer there are infinite universes, omniverses and infinite narratives layers. Scp 682 is described as a "Universal constant/Multiversal algorithm" which is a opposition to all life that has to follow certain rules so it can manifest in a certain universe. This algorithm affects the entire multiverse+alot more and means 682 can only manifest in a certain universes that follow certain conditions/rules. Those conditions/rules are: 1. the affected universe has to have a form of life (probably intelligent), without this SCP 682 can't manifest in that universe or.... 2.The affected universe has to have something similar to the SCP foundation.If one of this rules aren't met 682 cannot appear in that specific universe. + Since theres beyond infinite universes with beyond infinite possibilities that means there's a more than infinite number of 682's lizards, one in each universe(with life/scp foundation)+ more than infinite number of universes without 682(although those universes wouldn't have any life or a scp foundation) This essentially make SCP 682 impossible to completely destroy cause, if u somehow manage to kill his indestructible lizard form in your universe. You would be only killing a single 682 among infinite others in other universes,which are all extensions of his true form+ Universal constant and that extention you killed would eventually manifest again in your universe aslong as you and life exist. This makes 682 similar to Darkside from DC, since darkside has to send copies of himself into the dc universe ,since his true from would make the entire universe collapse but 682 would be on a more than infinitly greater scale via his conceptual nature and his algorithm not only affecting the multiverse,but the omniverse, aswell as the infinite narrative layers, mainly cause he is a universal constant.

Welp time to bring back 2935. This whole universe needs to die on a hyper conceptual level.

I always thought that instead of destroying 682 put it in something like a tesseract maze from 40k, but it continually adds to itself making the exit steadily recede from the entrance then put an another type of SCP on it. A non damaging beneficial SCP like a pendant or ring that emanates a euphoric field that has a side effect of slowing the wearer down. Slow enough that the exit recedes faster than SCP 682 can move. Maybe putting another cognito affect on the ring that 682 just doesn't recognize it. Maybe that's silly.

If you send 682 into space, it'll just grow wings and fly back to earth. Just like when it was launched into the sun.

Hey Old Man, been watching a while and you've covered a lot of really great SCPs (many of my favs). But if you're looking for some really good SCPs (IMO anyway) check out SCP 7000 the loser or Apotheosis (all parts) by the exploring series. Fair warning both are close to, if not 1h30min long.

Interesting name they chose for trying to get rid of the "weapon" they made...Project Overkill. What makes it interesting is that there's really no such thing as "overkill" precisely because there *is* such a thing as "underkill." If they want to eliminate something in such an esoteric manner (on the conceptual level) then they also have to eliminate the concept of "underkill" or they are likely to fail the overall goal. (facetiously speaking) Now if anyone could follow along with what I just said there, please come back & explain it to me so I can understand it? 😁

I have quite a different interpretation for this. I don't think this SCP shows you shouldn't destroy SCPs considering that the SCP foundation still wants to destroy 682, which makes sense as it could one day destroy all of humanity. I think it shows that how you go about it is very important. The SCP foundation simply messed up with every decision it made here. Instead of sending 682 into another universe like 2935 or launching it into a black hole or simply designing the machine to retain the information of what 682 is they made blunder after blunder without thinking everything through. Also if you haven't noticed this yet, this SCPs number is 682 + 0 or 682 times 10 if you will.

The Scarlet King would be proud of SCP-682. As for what you said you must understand Old Man Reacts this is just a article written by a SCP author who is simply writing within the setting of the SCP Mythos he understands and bulids up from what he understands. And keep in mind cosmology structure and setting heavily influences and sets in motion of a story where it's going. And the SCP Mythos cosmology is the worst, most chaotic, and uncontrolled imperfect evil and hellish cosmology ever created by modern writing. Worse then Marvel and DC. The Warhammer 40k setting despite it's suffering conditions and nature it's cosmology's chaotic creation is nothing compared to the SCP cosmology. And I grown quite weary of those types of settings and unrestrained horrors and torments. Such cosmologies are something I won't personally create. Such conditions are just heartless and lawless to me and I don't indulge in those kinds of narratives within such a horrible foundation. It would be shameful to me to bulid such a chaotic lawless cosmology setting and structure in my stories. And I won't be practicing the unrestrained narrative doctrines much anymore especially according to faith and relationship.

The biggest problem is that the Foundation should not have decommisioned the eigenweapon.
