Fun fact - mugwort (also called sweet wormwood or artemisia) saves thousands of lives a year. It's the key treatment for malaria here in Africa - the really bad type (p.falciparum). Amazing stuff.
@@AYK894 No, it's one of the two active ingredients in a drug called Coartem. It's a three-day course of medication you take when you get malaria falciparum, which is particularly nasty and quinine resistant. The huge benefit is that it kills the virus dead, so once you're better, you're fully better - it won't recur. I think it went into production around 1997 or something like that. Before then, it was known in China but not internationally, and if you got malaria you had it for life. Now you don't. There's a good book by Sonia Shah called The Fever which goes into it. I think she also did a TED talk. It really is incredible stuff.
@@AYK894l dont know, but l would think steeping it as a tea would be easier to take . In Australia ,before WW11 everyone had an outside toilet at their home and artemesia was grown next to it. We called it toilet bush.
Every time I watch one of these, I am so pleasantly receptive of the way municipalities around Japan go about promoting their region, their specialities, their particular produce, their various little spots of interest. These videos are fairly light on history. (I have noticed the group of you, lovely people, we watch, you, Chris, and the others of the.... extended gang, rarely go into extensive detail about what was going on here or there during the Sengoku era, or the Edo era, or the early Meiji years.) And yet, there is nothing either boring or cryptic in these videos about Japan. It is almost like you bite into a beautiful delicacy, and you know you like it, but there is more tasty moments to come once you reach the filling. Thank you, Emma and Kanako! Both towns are added to the list, and moved to fairly high up on it, as they give amazing vibes of tranquillity, beauty, and harmony.
Thank you so much! I get the opportunity to visit so many beautiful areas that are so rich with history, but for my channel I just focus on the things that interest me a lot 😅 I’m not too great with history details and names, BUT I love local produce, people, and small details, and hope to capture the things that I enjoy on camera. Then I hope if people have a big interest in history, then they can visit and learn for themselves, or find other content that has more of a focus on history! I appreciate you still enjoying the videos for what they are and seeing the towns through my lens :)
I love seeing these less visited areas, love seeing the promotion of what they have to offer. I hope these kinds of videos keep these regions thriving so they don’t disappear and we can continue to enjoy them, either in person or over the internet!!
Love the kind of "peace and calm" there is to this vlog. Can´t put my finger on exactly what does it. But it really showcased the area well - I wanna go 🙂
Ooh, that bakery! How beautiful. Walking with a lantern! How romantic. The plum tree and its squash! French/ japanese fusion food. The scenery. Wooden flowers. Emma, what a heavenly little sojourn. Maybe, when you want to change jobs, you could lead groups of Aussie tourists to the most beautiful places. Another superb travelblog. 🙏🙏🌷🌷🌷❤️
everything is so freaking pretty I watched it twice lol! what a beautifully done video. those were some top tier gutters, not only with the fish but also bonus flower boxes oooo! and it's kind of cool in it's own way to see the bridge construction and drained lake... how interesting. also oh man as a fellow dried plant and decorative branch enjoyer I'd want to grab up all those branches too. 😤🌿🍊✨ thank you as always for the lovely work!!
Hi you're back...Yay! Oh its like you've woken in a studio Ghibli movie, such a stunning location. Take care Emma and thank you for sharing another adventure.
I legit shouted "holy sh** that's beautiful" at that shot of the bakery display. Everything looks so lovely there and the new hair is soooo cute, Emma!
6:36 I love thinking that the casual small talk about how was their snack was aimed at a random stranger and was just extremely cute-voiced as a side effect of currently petting the doggo :D Also, how cute are those koi fish streams?! And I know it's a tiny and simple thing, but that bamboo planter placed across the stream just makes me want to dig a stream of my own so I could place something like it there!
Nice seeing you again, Emma! That place with the plum tree, and the mountain view at the start were the best. Also, I would've wanted to buy all the produce too! Thanks for another fun adventure!
So many beauuuutiful produce!! I would have love to see your suitcase after these two towns, lol. Very relaxed places , so beautiful, thanks for taking the time to show us some less known places!
Wow what a wonderful video, absolutely breathtaking views and lovely locations! Thank you for showing us more of the countryside gems and I hope you’re doing well!!!
Oh my gosht that looked like SUCH a relaxing and pretty place!! I hope all the produce fit into your suitcase home because it looked too good not to keep
I'm delighted that I stumbled upon your beautiful channel. I thoroughly enjoy the videos you've created, and I'm eagerly looking forward to watching your upcoming content!
Very enjoyable video, I'm keen on visiting Shikoku soon so it's great to learn about destinations like these. it's so refreshing to have a Western YTer use music well , i.e. sparingly at certain moments in the video rather than having background music blaring for the entire video .
Beautiful views!!! Adorable mascot too ahhh 🥺💕. The koi in the canal!! Always such a neat thing to see!! 1:30 is stunning!!!!!!!!! Also the close up of the clouds just before that, so pretty!! The couple you stayed with is soooo nice!!!! And then a cute doggy too?? Beautiful town? Nice people? Delicious food? I'm not even halfway through the video and I'm already sold; I'm pretty sure I want to live here. The hotel in Ozu in so beautiful. Also YESSS thank you for showing the kitties!!! All the kitties~~~ They're sooo pretty and cute!! Gorgeous tea ceremony area ♡. That is my type of woodworking kit, also the coaster is adorable! Lovely video, thank you~~♡ ♡ ♡
Ehime prefecture has been on my list of places to visit for a while. It’s definitely climbing the list on priority for my next trip to Japan. It will be several years before I go again. But still planning for the future 😅 This was really a lovely video❤
I definitely know your pain with not being able to sit on the knees since I have hypermobility, I find that making most of the bows solely at the hips helps a little bit, and rotating the ankles slightly inward rather than outward makes it easier
Hi Emma! It feels like I haven't seen your videos in forever, so I have some catching up to do. You were in persimmon heaven and I might just have to try to dry a Persimmon, myself 😍
13:12 Gorgeous! Take care of yourself. You shouldn’t be out of breath climbing stairs. Love your face, an everything else attached to it. You make wonderful travel videos for those of us with cabin fever.
Hello! Thank you! Actually I’ve always gotten a bit winded with stairs even when I was going to the gym frequently, I used to worry about it but after looking it up a bunch it’s pretty normal and not a sign of being unfit or anything sinister! Thanks for watching and hope you can travel again soon :)
