IDK Man, Ferrari's culture has always been " We make the cars we wanna make, f*ck you if you don't like it." It's always been the culture, with the precedent set by Enzo himself. Lamborghini, on the other hand, was built by a more down to earth entrepreneur in Ferrucio, who understands the concept of turning trash into treasure. It seems like a game to me, everytime you buy one, you roll the dice to see where you end up.

Leno wanted to buy a special limited production Ferrari and wanted to use his celebrity status to get in the front of a queue comprising of loyal Ferrari customers who were also waiting to get their hands on a special limited production Ferrari. Now, as Leno didn't own any Ferrari previously and in order to own a special limited production Ferrari, he needed to own some entry level or other pre-owned special Ferrari's and that's what the dealer asked him. He knows why manufacturers have these rules in place for special cars, he praised Ford for the Ford GT allocation system!

I never had a Ferrari. I drove one which I rented on a trip for 2 days. It was a 488 GTB. For the first 2 hours, I was in awe - the speed, the engine sound - simply fantastic. Then, when the novelty effect wore off a bit, I started to notice other things: the headliner was hanging from the roof, forming a belly-like shape that so gently touched the top of my head from time to time. The headliner fabric was also a cheap black felt. Buttons on the panel were very sticky, despite the fact that the car was not too old. The radio sound was terrible - not too far from my Iphone on speaker mode. The center review mirror was very stiff, hard to adjust. Indeed, a lot of clear quality control issues.

Regarding service, relationships and dealerships, Problem is the US, not Ferrari. As owner of Ferraris in both in US and Asia, the Asian dealership and brand marketing folks go above and beyond to make you feel special. We even got tickets to Formula One circuits and multiple Track options. We had events in Marina where owners had a full day onboard a 150 foot Yacht. And so on. The Ferrari dealership in SE Asia has a dozen stunning hot Maxim models welcoming you with drinks, food bites etc while in US, a fat sweaty hairy Italian Jersey dude with body odor is dictating me what to buy. The dealership looks old, antiquated and has no “mojo”. In Asia, buying a Ferrari is an event - they arrange dancers, parties, magicians (if you got kids), picnics, fun stuff. In US, they think you are doing them a favor by taking a 750k SF90. Also in SE Asia, normally the owners are respected and revered more as the car costs 2 to 4 times more than US. SF90 in Singapore is $2 million plus
@olikat8

You should see Jay Leno's comments on why he won't own a Ferrari- it's not the US market. It's FIAT/Ferrari
@drstevej2527
@drstevej2527 2 года назад
That’s because Asia has no taste. Selling something for many times the value is not respect. It’s exploiting suckers. Lastly Ferrari does not sell to just anyone. Asians are at the bottom of the Ferraris rankings of customers who comport with their image. They are willing to sell to Asia at 4 times the price. That’s how much they don’t want Asian buyers. They want European and American buyers.

@@R33GTRRRR The ARF and COE is what pushes the price up. A basic Toyota costing around US$20k in the US would be over US$100 k in Singapore. Try shipping a car from Latvia to Singapore, you still wouldn't be able to get around the additional taxes.

Well, I’ve owned 3 Ferraris. I’ve been to the Ferrari factory. Bought the last one certified preowned at my local Ferrari dealer, shopped at least three dealers to find this car. They were all very professional upfront and honest. I still own my first 308 GTS I bought from an independent exotic car dealer in 1987. I bought another from Michael Sheehan in the 90s, a late 60s 365, which while it wasn’t perfect, as it was a restored car that he was consigning, the issues were easily addressed by my local independent shop. Wish I still owned that beautiful Columbo v12 three carb beauty. Oh and the 308s engine seals were addressed at a Ferrari dealer in MA and they were fair and honest. My last purchase was at Ferrari New England. A 488 spyder. They showed us the maintenance shop. And the visiting SF 90. I test drove the car, they explained everything that was to be replaced for the certification. I still have two yrs on the maintenance after my latest service which was painless. Maybe just maybe it’s the attitude the buyer conveys that’s as toxic as anything the dealer conveys. Yes I know I’m not buying a new car. I know that buying new is a biggggg deal. While I was at Ferrari NE I met the customer who almost bought my car….he decided instead to order an F8 for which he was going to wait at least 9 months. He wanted what he wanted because he stated….I’ve worked long and hard to get where I am and want what I want. Well so have I. All I wanted was a modern Ferrari with a few features . I looked at the California T the Lusso 12 cyl, 488 and 458 spiders. It was my bucket list car. My one peeve is having to wait when I see something that’s so close so possible. When given the choice with an expensive car new or gently used…..I chose the used. Not only do you have a hard record of the car to review , through the dealers service records and CarFax, you will see if the cars a glitch monster or a carefree, troublefree trooper. Mine was shown to be the later. Troublefree . visited the dealer for its regular service only a theme that’s continuing after a yr of ownership of a 2017 that came to me with 6000 miles and over 2000 additional miles at my hands. My salesman has continued to stay in contact with me after the sale, and the service people were polite and professional. I’ve been invited to configure a 296, not ready, and invited to various events that involve the dealers charity work. I didn’t come to Ferrari with an attitude that I deserved the car. I came with the love and passion for a brand that has always inspired my imagination. Maybe just maybe it’s not just Ferrari that seems to have an attitude.

I used to change oil and filters more often than I needed, it didn't cost a lot, but over time really helped the engine performance. (Audi A6, Boxter). Subaru were also good. A few of my all-time favorite cars are from Ferrari, which are the 250 Testarossa, F40 and F50. And this is coming from a massive Porsche fanboy. That being said, I never had an interest in dealing with Ferrari because of their snobbish and elitist approach towards advertising themselves and their products, which are admittedly very lackluster in comparison to their competition. I’ve gone to several Porsche dealerships and they all treated me like a customer. Hell I actually worked for them as a sales intern and it was a blast. Ferrari, on the other hand, treated me like a criminal. I couldn’t check out the cars and I wasn’t allowed to even take photos. My neighbor owns a 1988 Testarossa that was inherited from his late father and his dealership never allowed him into the garage to see the progress on the engineers changing the timing belts, and he openly doubts they replaced the belts anyway. I love Ferrari’s classic cars. We all do, and for a good reason. They’re an influential brand for sure. But buying from the dealership directly or even being a potential customer? Yeah, no thanks. I don’t ever wanna deal with that type of pretentiousness and snobbery, nor do I wanna be constantly worried about “devaluing” the brand or their cars just by criticizing them.

A friend of mine took delivery of a new 812 GTS only to have an issue with the door glass not sealing and taking it water. As result, the glass had clearly made contact with metal where the rubber seal should have been. It was evident that this had taken place before the car left the factory. He did not want to have the section repainted, especially on a brand new car and possibly affecting its value. Ultimately Ferrari took the car back and supplied him with a new one. How can someone sign off on something so obvious. Its not like they are pumping these things out like hot cakes!

Quality is a lost art in a lot of products. Too many manufacturers have adopted a microwave mentality and just want to get out as many products as fast as they can. It doesn’t help that consumers want their products quickly and have no idea as to what craftsmanship is.

It seems Ferrari has the same problem in F1. Their problem is they are modern Italian company. The culture and mentality. Rolls Royce, Bentley, Lamborghini, Bugatti and Ducati are all German owned companies. Just study the before and after, and you have your answer.

My father, who with his father owned a car dealership, (Oldsmobile) always told me there are no lemon cars only lemon dealerships But then he never sold a Yugo. Dealers should be service and customer oriented. Manufactures should be market, engineering and quality oriented. BTW, both Mercedes dealers I have had dealings with fall all over themselves to insure you are happy after a service. Of course you do pay a relatively high premium for that service. You note your good experiences with Lambo dealers , fine but to my eyes they are very unattractive cars. They look like a slice of cheddar cheese and the Urus, while an amazing performing car, hurts my eyes. Rolls Royce?? Of course, Rolls is the ultimate snob car, and the dealer keep up the hype: so they give you the Royal treatment, besides sales volume is so low it is like being a yacht dealer, you do what you must to keep your very well healed customer satisfied. A-M are fine cars and good lookers. But the new Ferraris are stunningly gorgeous with curves, amazing paints paints, and real hardtop convertibles - no ugly rag tops. And as I understand it now they are real road cars, not track cars detuned for the highway and I an told you no longer need a back adjustment after a 200 mile jaunt.

I'm mixed in my opinion as I'm still what you might call a fanboy.I have been fortunate to have driven 2 Ferraris a 1987 328 GTS QV and a 1994 348Ts.I have never been in a financial position to own one.Now having said that,I understand how from a manufacturer's point of view about controlling people's perception of the brand as the brand has intangibles such as equity,prestige and whatnot.So i can see why a brand might want car reviewers to say favorable things and as with many high end brands,not everyone even with an audience big or small is permitted to have access to cars for the first time. I have heard numerous youtubers and celebrities say things about the difficulties of ferrari ownership yes,their past actions of suing owners for modifying their cars when it could easily be a non issue.Like say wrapping your enzo pink instead of leaving it the stock black or yellow when nothing mechanical was changed,you can easily change it back to stock.it wasn't like how DDE did and slap twin turbos on a F12,even then they had some issues with a dealer working on that car.I get it,the car is modified outside of factory parameters and the dealership and the factory techs aren't sure of the craftsmanship and might make a bad situation worse. That being said I get how many manufacturers are owned by larger companies who make less higher end cars and the propensity for the higher end cars to reduce costs and put in what would be expensive proprietary technology and parts with cheaper ones that still have the same functions but may degrade at a higher rate. Koeinegsegg is a company that does nearly everything in house but then again the production volume kinda justifies the cost outlay and the retail price to customers vs Ferrari Do i like or love ferrari still,yes Now if i were a manufacturer and using the same relationship style business model that ferrari first employed then yes i wouldn't ban them from getting a car if that client in question had previously bought 20 cars and this particular one he sold 9 months after owning it when he typically holds on to them for 5-10 years.If his intent was flipping because his finances were in trouble this would put red flags up on my end.i wouldn't black list him i'd put him on a "grey list" of people who if the pattern of behavior continues it might lead them to be on a black list and the implementation of anti flipping measures.kinda like how Ford and Porsche have done in the past. would I want to do that,probably no as i get that there are some like myself who at the time of launch of a car,simply didn't have the money to spec out and buy a car but come across one used and modify to my taste. I understand that there is a level of pride of making a car your own and that's why i wouldn't be so strict on people modifying my cars after they have purchased the car

I made sure to watch the whole video before leaving my opinion and I would have to say I don’t really agree with this or have had any of these problems. First ferrari I owned was a 2005 Ferrari 430 spider, followed by a 2018 Ferrari 488 Spider, followed by a 2022 F8 Spider and followed by my current 2022 296GTB I received 1 week ago. I’ve never had any problems with Ferrari. With the 2005 430 spider, I had problems with my top but it’s a old car so I understood it’s not gonna be perfect. They fixed it in less than a week. My next problem was both turbos blew in my 488 Spider and it was covered under insurance and they told me this was the first time this ever happened and flew out the F1 team just to repair it. I had the car back within 2 weeks and was all covered under warranty and never happened again. I almost daily all my Ferraris so these cars hold up EXTREMELY WELL for daily driving. Each car I have purchased, has came with many many shirts, jackets, model cars with the same spec as my real Ferrari and the hospitality I’ve received at my dealerships has been outstanding. I just don’t understand the issues you bring up because my process has been nothing close to a bad experience.

we went to Italy and busted our hump to get to Maranello and see the museum - don't bother btw. i love the old things like the Daytona and the Boxter, forget the 250 gto and lm. finicky overpriced cars are something i don't have time for, although i did drive a Porsche 944 turbo for many years (the performance on the highway was almost worth it). when i think of Ferrari, i get mostly a douche would want one. probably someone i wouldn't like. which sucks because the marque is legendary and i hear that engine in my dreams. you know Gordan Murray made something that sounds fantastic (or he commissioned Cosworth on his incredible little V12) and it sounds even better than the F-car ever did.

I've never taken my Ferrari to a dealer for repair. I just don't like the dealership for any car. I feel their goal is to upsell all the time, and if they can't figure out what a problem is, to just throw parts at it untill they get lucky at your expence. Like you, I can care less if they like me or not. I bought the car and that's it, transaction is done. I don't owe you nothing, and I don't expect anything from them.

love Ferraris love the way they look their body styling love their prestige but I do have to agree their direction of mass production is ultimately going to bring them down from the top notch of what it used to be. I own one so I do speak up from experience I have worked on it extensively and it's fit and finish is not on par with what Lamborghini is. but that would make sense because Lamborghinis owned by Audi who produces many many cars in comparison I would expect better fit and finish from Audi slash Lamborghini. still love the Ferraris love the way they drive the way they perform etc. great content very eye-opening for those who do not know the market and what's going on thank you for your insights PJ.
