I'm a dental office manager with over 35 years experience. Shouldn't be more than $125. BTW, ask them if they coded for D9110 (palliative emergency treatment for pain) and a couple of x-rays. I've never heard of any dental insurance that doesn't cover D9110 (may be subject to your annual deductible.) X-rays are super inexpensive. If they use D9110, they can't charge separately for the desensitizer. Is the tooth hot or cold sensitive? Sometimes teeth have a tiny crack which can cause sensitivity, sometimes we have a small amount of gum recession with can also cause (especially) cold sensitivity. Heat sensitivity is something more indicative of the need for a root canal. Also, sometimes we have areas of sensitivity that can be acute, but cannot be diagnosed. We may have a bite discrepancy which can cause sensitivity. Did your dentist check your bite by having you tap-tap-tap on some carbon paper? We feel really bad when someone is in pain but there is no obvious reason for why. You need to see a senior dentist who has "seen it all" who can think outside of the box, and not just depend on an x-ray. Experience is often the most important factor in being a dental detective. If you use your Sensodyne toothpaste day and night for 2 weeks and you still have pain, ask to be referred to a endodontic (root canal) specialist who has the ability to take a "CBCT" a dental scan, so they can look for possible fractures or other problems that a regular x-ray (or eyes) cannot detect. Wishing you all the best! (if you ever have dental questions, let me know)
Always glad to help. As others have mentioned, MI Paste is also terrific for sensitivity in the absence of other issues. Only purchase through a dental office though. It's more like a creme - you don't brush with it. I advise my patients to apply at night like a moisture mask before you go to bed. I can give you more details if you're interested. @@Kevinbbeauty
@@Kevinbbeauty btw Kevin, I would look into possibly your gums receding and exposing the nerve. I had the same thing with cold drinks! turns out mine was my gums slightly receding and exposing the nerves, and omg I had to fight for my life to get composite bonding on some back molars because they hurt so much from cold drinks and even brushing. I was even using Sensodyne, and they totally ignored my sensitivity issues, until 2 years later I was almost in tears because 1 tooth needed a root canal from a deep cavity on the side (not surprised, it hurt to brush sometimes, not always, it was cold drinks first, gradually then brushing, and I tried even though this sharp pain) turns out, I was brushing the old-school way that they taught us. turns out, that caused my gums to slightly recede, but the composite bonding saved these same issues with sensitivity instantly and my teeth probably. 1 on each middle molar so 3 in total, except the root canal. 😢 i wish I was more assertive but they just said oh just Listerine and Sensodyne, and sent me on my merry way, like I was making it up.
I love that more and more influencers are encouraging us to not shop the regular sales. I'm really liking the encouragement to not purchase things. Always a joy to watch the two of you together!
Private Dancer by Tina Turner is the song Jonny. Kevin tooth sensitivity happens as the enamel on your teeth wears off. It isn’t necessarily anything to do with tooth whitening. Get a good sensitive enamel toothpaste and brush your teeth after anything sweet, including fruit juice.
Got a tip from my dentist before that you can actually spot treat with a enamel building toothpaste. Put some on the tooth and leave it on for 5 minutes before brushing it off. Might be worth a shot
This is my first comment in the history of RU-vid and i just had to say you guys are sincerely the only ones I listen to when it comes to makeup in general. I love how transparent you are and don't try to push products for virality, clout, or compensation. ❤
As someone who works with doctors, here are some tips. NOW THESE ARE NOT THE END ALL BE ALL...BUT I find that these things work. #1 Get a female doctor...I hate to generalize BUT female doctors are just built differently. #2. Get a DO instead of an MD. If I remember correctly, DO are trained more in patient care and bedside manner. I worked with a lot of DO and they usually have great listening skills. #3 DO NOT BE AFRAID TO GET A DIFFERENT DOCTOR. Doctors, you need to treat them like you're on a date. If they suck....go to the next one. You deserve the best healthcare possible, and there is someone out there for you. #4 The dental industry works WAY DIFFERENT than the regular medical industry when it comes to insurance. So make sure you check your insurance plans before you go. They will get you for all your $$$$. Hope this helps ❤❤❤
I worked in healthcare and as a patent female doctors are no better than males. I was gaslighted by two female doctors and the third a male diagnosed me in five minutes. I would also suggest going to a PA. They're more patient focused.
I completely agree! Both of the dentists I go to are women and they are very gentle but thorough with the cleanings and procedures. And they are more upfront with what is going on such as what fillings I need, what my insurance covers, what tooth paste/mouthwash I should use. I've had so many bad experiences with male doctors especially when I've decided to go to clinics when I didn't have insurance.
This shrinkflation is killing me. Tell me why I now have to pay $16 for concealer thst used to be $12 and now has LESS product AND a worse applicator? These companies are cheating us out of $ and product and blaming it on overhead- meanwhile they’re making more profit than ever and still haven’t given raises to their employees. It’s a goddamn SHAME
Personally, I'd stop using the product and look for some else. If these companies keep doing this they'll eventually lose business. They're shooting themselves in the foot in the long run.
Bidenomics. I've got grown children and grandkids working their asses off for a lot less. Right now, I cannot justify buying less product for a higher price.
@@deirdreevangelista856 Oh I did. I was appalled by the price and by the fact that I almost didn’t realize… I didn’t think to check the price of something I’ve bought for years and when I saw it was $16 at the register I was like “oh! I’ll put that back then!” 😅😂
@@lorielizabethwade7505 corporate greed has been around a lot longer than Biden. Do I love what he’s doing in office? No. But they’re all the problem- not just the president.
Omg Kevin, I’d fight that bill! Heack no they should have told you up front. My dentist always told me upfront what was and wasn’t covered. they’d even try their best coding to reduce cost: they are horrible 😤 I’m angry on your behalf. That’s why I haven’t changed specific doctors because I found out years later that I had an autoimmune disorder with my blood. So many doctors just ignored me and thought I was looking for meds yet I didn’t take them. Now the past 10+ years I found 2 specialists and I don’t care I have to drive 3hrs (round trip ) to be seen. He cares, they recommend what I say about my life and checked in on me during the pandemic to make sure I was healthy and mentally okay. We need more of him .
The dentist doesn't have any idea of what insurance does and does not cover; however, before anything is recommended, a patient can always ask to be quoted any expected out-of-pocket fees. There should be a treatment coordinator (called many different things, but they serve the same role) who can let you know.
Yes exactly I had a 13k+ operation and they gave me an itemized list of what I paid for every visit and before I even started they showed me and printed out an itemized list of what I'd be charged on each visit so I had paperwork to prepare me for the cost as well as having something to check against to make sure I didn't get charged for anything extra. @vickimanager
Agree w/ Vickimanager. Insurance is sooo non-standardized. Literally if you have insurance there is nothing standardized from company to company or policy to policy. Same company different states=radically different coverages for products with the same name. Insurance is Wild West. And government is so tardy to the party they are struggling to fix things.
A good office will offer you pricing estimates before any major or non standard treatments. I have stayed loyal to my dentist because they are so transparent with costs up front. Hate to hear how that's not expected treatment out there.
I worked in medical and I think what you guys are talking about is the reason people in healthcare almost never seek treatment. They know what the experience is gonna be like, so they don’t bother going. Anytime I’ve tried to get my health taken care of, I’m billed thousands and given no solutions, no diagnoses. I totally understand why our patients get upset because I’m one myself and I’m going through the same things
I was in Sephora just yesterday trying desperately to remember different items you've recommended. I got to the checkout and waited until it was my turn. I DISTINCTLY remember you telling us it was double the price for half the merchandise. This was about 6 months ago. I skipped it and saved my money. You guys are the BEST! I've recently been purchasing the Sephora eye pallets and loving every one of them. Please address brush washing. I need clarification.
I’m glad you’re talking about how bad the Nars and hourglass concealer is! I thought there was something wrong with me since I didn’t like them and they didn’t work for me. I have such a hard time finding a good concealer that doesn’t crease or change colors (grey or darkens) after I put it on. The struggle is real for the dark circle girlies 😭
Murad and Dermalogica were originally clinical and available only through derms & esties. They did re-formulate their products when they became available commercially.
Murad still shows proven results, I believe. There are some RU-vid shorts showing results from consumers)… but the expense… my gosh. It’s hard to pay bills.
I totally get where you're coming from with the turn & burn vibe of medical care. My husband is a dental hygienist so I know how double/triple booked they can be (which is ridiculous). This is not an excuse not to give great, personalized service & care, but I can see why they're tired. I also know a PA who talks about how messed up the healthcare system is in general, leading to poor care for patients. It's not the providers who want to give 10 minute slots to people to tell them nothing is wrong; it's really mainly a systemic issue (as always)
I'm a dental office manager. Your husband must be working in one of those awful clinics that take HMOs. Really nice private offices are DESPERATE for hygienists since COVID; please, encourage him to move to a private office where it's one patient at a time, 45 min to 1 hour scheduled per patient. Unless he works for the military in some capacity, in which case, he has no choice. Wishing you and your family all the best!💜
@@vickimanager thanks for your kind message! same to you! and he does work for a private office lol, but he's still seeing multiple patients at the same time some days. they are so desperate for DHs, at least in the north east
Kevin - 22 year dental assistant here. Sounds like either gum recession or grinding. Get a bite guard from the dentist (expensive but worth it) and see if it helps.
@@bonhydenI got a night guard and it helped with my sensitivity and grinding since I began cracking my back tooth. Helped a lot and no longer have such bad sensation.
In the mean time (speaking from experience they can take a bit to make) some pharmacies have kits to make bite guards, they’re less than $50, they work in a pinch for a few months.
I had the same problem as Kevin and a night guard changed my life! Also, they also put a desensitization gel and they told me not to eat and drink for 1 to 2 hours not just 20 minutes
Girl!!!! *THE FRIDGE PEANUT BUTTER* I literally thought I was the only one who’s parents did that!! It’s still an ongoing argument with me and my mom to this day 😂❤
@@amandajingleheimerschmidt3050 That was the problem, my mom insisted to the BITTER end that once the seal was crack immediately to the fridge. It was unbearable, PBJ sandwiches worn so then from the carnage of the hard spread that half the time my jelly ran out of it!! Let alone when the occasional impulse for a spoonful or two would hit, it would be like taking a spoonful of cold roofing tar and getting it down. I stand squarely in the cupboard to this day, this was my TED talk, and the hill I will die upon Mary Dugan 😂
I was once told that sinuses can sometimes cause pain in your teeth (told by my dental office), especially if it's your top teeth. That could be something to talk to your dentist about (or your doctor to see if they recommend taking a daily allergy medicine or something similar). Hopefully Kevin gets it figured out! Tooth pain is no fun!
@mommmyjewlz haha what are the odds! Sinus infections suck, I get them at least twice a year with the change of seasons where I live. Started taking a daily allergy medicine and don't have as much upper tooth pain as I used to.
It's so true! During allergy season or right before rains move in, we have a lot of people calling with sudden, severe tooth aches. Sometimes, a patient will call saying, "ALL of my teeth hurt" and that's when we suspect the sinuses. You bring up a great point!
Yes, pain in your teeth can be from sinuses and as this is Spring, seasonal allergies could be the culprit. I once went to the dentist for pain and got x-rays … he could see my sinuses were inflamed. Teeth grinding can cause sinus pain as well.
I am a Respiratory Therapist in a hospital and I agree with somehow the empathy has waned. The doctors get paid way less and have to see more patients per insurance company. That is no excuse though. That being said, it is not every doctor but noone should feel dismissed. Our healthcare system is super flawed but there truly are good docs that do listen.
I've been a dental nurse for 22 years. It could be loss of enamel on the tooth which can make the tooth sensitive. Enamel wear can come from acidic drinks (sodas, energy drinks, juices). Try some sensitive toothpaste. You can put the sensitive tooth paste on the tooth as a spot treatment as well. It'll help. You can never get back enamel. After drinking acidic drinks, have a drink of water afterwards
PLEASE make sure they give you an itemized bill so you can make sure they don’t charge you for the first set of x-rays! That was the mistake on the nurse and you shouldn’t be charged for those, but doctors offices are good about tacking on charges that they shouldn’t to get more money out of you.
Ever since I was diagnosed with cancer at 8 years old, almost every sihgle doctor I've ever worked with has cared about me and my care. If they didn't know what was the problem, they told me so, or they would give me the multiple options that COULD be the cause. I've been so lucky in that respect and I can't help but remind myself of that every time I talk about my health journey. It's still ongoing and I can only hope the care never fails me.
Aww. So sad that the episode is done. Almost two hrs and I still want more. You guys are my fav time of the week. LOL not the cathlotic singing on 🐣 Easter!
The rare beauty blushlighters are actually amazing I bought three and they look so seamless The joy shade looks absolutely beautiful on Nars new blush color called orgasm edge and it looks beautiful If you're looking for a gorgeous peach cheek color that is the combo I would recommend
You have to refrigerate natural peanut butter ‘cause all the oil in it. If you don’t refrigerate it, it will go rancid. And refrigeration also keeps it from separating. Pro-tip: store the jar upside down in the fridge. The oil will go to the bottom of the jar and you won’t have to mix it every time you use it.
I love you guys, I watch every week! I feel so validated after hearing Kevin go off on the supergoop glow screen. I bought that at the sale last year and hated it. I love a glow, but I don’t want to look like I’m radioactive or my skin is made of foil. However, as an olive undertone person, the gray green shade of the new tint calls to me.
Fun fact, the summer Fridays lip butters are actually a dupe of the Ole Henrikson (sp?) peptide plump lip butters. I have the Ole ones and they are so nice. And then Polite Society has duped them too, and I actually really love them.
I’ve seen a handful of comments suggesting it may be gum recession. That’s exactly what I think too. I have similar experience. Brushing too hard, teeth grinding and genetics are all possible causes. Sensodyne toothpaste has helped me a lot. You can also rub a bit of it onto the area after brushing. Also, switch to ‘soft’ bristles. ❤
Thank you for these recommendations (and anti-recommendations)! Johnny and Kevin I'd love to hear your thoughts on the Danessa Myricks Blooming Romance palette. I'm considering buying it during the sale but I've never tried this brand so I'd love to get your opinion! ❤
Great show guys. One thing product you mentioned that I am not a fan of, is the Elemis cleansing balm. It does work, but it doesn't smell nice and it is super expensive. The Glow Recipe Papaya Sorbet Cleansing Balm is just as good, if not better. You get more product for your money as well.
Love you both! Would love a tutorial on color matching. Esp foundation and concealers. No testers at drug stores, Target or online purchases. And Sephora employees don't exactly rush to help more mature people.
Johnny/Kevin---you are right that Dior Forever Matte Foundation is just so beautiful!!! I'm 60!!! Question---is the Dior Face & Body Foundation color options a match for the Forever Foundation?
I didn't know about the decrease in the size of the Haus Labs blush when I bought the new ones - so I was SO upset when I saw it. So glad you're saying this. I still love them - but I'm so annoyed at the price gouging...
@@beautifulandbothered and potentially the bigger crime... not bringing back lavender blonde? Sigh. I remember when these came out initially (over a year ago) and talking about it with Robert Welsh on my channel and getting super excited.... Still love the product - I'm just bummed out that Haus Labs pulled this. Brilliant episode AS ALWAYS guys - just love your candour and no-nonsense approach!
Try being a woman going through menopause and the doctors don't believe you so you just keep minimizing your own pain. Sisters, have you had this happen too? It's taken me three years to be diagnosed with uterine polyps, fibroids, and ovarian cysts. Just had biopsies and keeping fingers crossed its not cancer. Trying not to freak myself out, so keep distracting me Johnny and Kevin, I desperately need the laughs! 😅
So with you. Was told in hospital stay I had several cysts and fibroids. On Sun thyroid now. Need estrogen. Was told I could have ablations but would be advised for hysterectomy. Moved and new dr says no to all(no ultrasound, bloodwork proves I need HRT. Says if fibroids aren’t so humongous during pelvic exam that he’s worried. Dismissed with appt in 3 Years?!!!
@@mistyisha That's crazy! I hope you get some clear answers soon, it's completely stressful and nerve wracking. And I still don't have my results back. Having another invasive ultrasound tomorrow and asked for meds so it's not so awful.
So happy to see the both of you! Maybe, you could do a makeup look to match your favorite beverage episode? You could make a toast about how you guys are always honest with your reviews and have integrity. 🍾🍾
Hey beautiful peeps. Happy Easter to those who celebrate. Otherwise, happy Sunday!!! ❤❤ This was good. Love when you two rant it up!!! Here for it all. Sorry you had to go through bad brand night. Sounds not fun at all. Have a great week. ❤
I'm still dying over the refrigerating peanut butter 😂 I've never heard of that but maybe it's better? Was it spreadable though? So many follow up questions. Thanks for the real Sephora picks!!!
The best part of my Sunday has arrived! I am ✨OBSESSED✨ with this podcast! Love you guys! 💙💙 I’m LOVING the deinfluencing with the alternative suggestions part of the episode! Please do more of this! 👏👏💙
anyone else need kevin to make his own scent there has to be a place like byte lab to make a fragrance and i want to hear what he would make. i love the way they talk about notes
I just want to say, every product recommendation that I’ve purchased from you both has been phenomenal! I’m so happy I found y’all! ❤ BTW elf has a dupe for the glow screen! Try it instead lol.
Sour gummies and carbonated drinks will totally cause tooth sensitivity!!!! Especially if you grind. Here are my sensitive tooth helpers: RiseWell or Boka hydroxyapatite toothpaste, MI paste on the sensitive tooth at night, carifree mouth spray after acidic foods.
Went on Ulra website this morning pretty most everythingb20% off. Needless to say most of my planned Sephora order went to Ulta. As I only get 15 percent off at Sephora
When me and my boyfriend moved in together, we made breakfast one morning and he put the syrup in the refrigerator and I was like what the hell are you doing? The syrup does not go in the refrigerator! He swears it does, I grew up with my pancake syrup in the pantry like a sane person, but he swears it goes in the refrigerator! Fast forward to six years later, and we are still having this debate. Lol!
I do that too but I k iw it can be out. I just like the syrup to be cold as it doesn't seep and dissappear into my waffles Instantly. I also use sugar free which I find is usually more runny but putting it in the fridge just helps..
Hi Johnny and Kevin, love and prayers for Cathy at this time, be strong girl and fight,YES YOU NEED TO PUT PEANUT BUTTER IN THE FRIDGE AFTER OPENING IT!!!, thank you for your recommendations for the Sephora sale, I appreciate all your honesty and hard work you put into this video. Love Katherine xoxo
Had to get this video in before the Sephora sale!! Love, love, LOVE you both and what you each bring to the table! Very interesting hearing what products you like/dislike. Happy shopping….(or not)😅❤
Awwww, Kevin, I hope the tooth issue is all resolved for you! Tooth issues are miserable when you cannot get the supposed professional to listen and act. Thanks for another great one!!!
Kevin, I had a similar experience to you with the shooting pain in one specific area of my mouth but no signs of cavities. I got a mouthguard to sleep in and switched to sensitive toothpaste, and the issue went away within a week. I hope you feel better soon!
I just pulled this episode up so excited to watch and my husband asked if one of you is the beautiful one and one of you is the bothered one. I died laughing. Love you both!
The exact same thing happened to me at the dentist down to the cold and response to air spray - the dentist said it was a sprained tooth ligament (mine was caused by grinding and Invisalign). OTC pain meds and orajel are really all you can do.
Kevin, make sure you go over the dental bill & if they charged you for more than one xray, I'd call & fight that. Especially since the dental assistant clearly is incompetent. I hope you can figure out what's going on with your tooth. I suffered with bruxism for decades & had to wear a night guard to stop from destroying the enamel on my teeth.
Kevin I FEEL for you! I can’t eat anything mildly crunchy on my left side. Every time I go to the dentist I also get the “well I don’t see anything” so frustrating
I love watching you both every week even though I’m not interested in shopping the Sephora sale this year. I’m still satisfied using your drugstore makeup recommendations from your best of 2023 video. I agree that The Ordinary and Inky List are poorly formulated, single ingredient rip offs. American skincare is so overpriced and harsh on the skin. I’m loving k and j beauty. My skin has never looked better and my full body spring skincare routine (AM, PM, SPF, and special treatments) was only $150.
I have had this issue with my teeth! It ended up being a slight gum infection. I was told two really important things to remedy it by my dentist. One was to get a water pick and some gum rinse like Closys sensitive gum rinse with it. The second thing to do, after you brush and floss your teeth at night just before bed, was to rub a high fluoride toothpaste on your teeth and sleep with it on. I had been to numerous dentists over the years and this was my current dentists suggestion and it worked.
Kevin did the dentist say whether you have any recession in your gums? I have a very similar experience and I get fluoride varnish every 6 months and an MI paste that I put in my night guard. Helps so much! Not covered by insurance but the varnish is $28.
I completely agree with you guys regarding doctors. It's a shame because, years ago, I was able to find a few very caring doctors. However, it seems times have certainly changed. Being someone with a very rare disability, I need a doctor who is going to take their time. Instead, I get doctors who shrug and walk away or give me attitude when they can't figure out the problem. They are clearly out of their depth, so they just blame it on my disability and say I'll just have to deal with it since this is a chronic condition. When a doctor tells you to go on pain management as a middle schooler because they don't have a better answer, something is seriously wrong with the medical system. I'm nearly 40 now and unfortunately things haven't improved much. It's scary when you know more about your condition than the doctors do and yet they insist on continuing to treat you like an invalid just because you're disabled. Whatever happened to bedside manner?
I put my peanut butter in the fridge - and we NEED a short of Johnny trying on that Super Gunk ;) Always so fun to hear your thoughts and you two thriving and calling for higher standards (and enough of the gimmicks and cash grabs) ACROSS THE BOARD
First off, thank you for influencing me NOT to buy the NARS & Hourglass concealers. The amount of times i’ve seen content creators rave about it I was honestly thinking about getting them but that price tag just kept me away 😂. Secondly, I would love it if for your next video ya’ll put together a list of brands you recommend that do not support Isr*el. I’ve been boycotting the big brands on the boycott lists but because content creators only ever get sponsored by big brands I don’t really know what else is out there. I’d really appreciate it if you guys could talk about the smaller makeup brands that you guys really enjoy!! Thank you!! Love your videos! ❤❤
Omg love the recommendations! And loved the "Christ has risen" 😂 had me dying 😂 I love you guys! I loled and enjoyed the episode as usual! Happy Sunday!
Thank you guys so much for what you do. It's comforting knowing that I can watch such a dynamic duo that just keeps it real and talks candidly about facecare and makeup. I am very new to the makeup and skincare industry and it's nice yo have guidance on what products to invest in. Thank you for speaking passionately about your passions. ❤
