Johnny's right. Last time I was in Ulta, no one was over in the luxury brands. They were all on the drug store side. People are watching their wallets and can't cash out for a $60 eyeshadow palette that is low performing and has the same colors.
Same. I've been in ulta 5 times in the last 3 weeks due to my daughter's bday and my quarterly makeup/skincare needs. Yes, I'm down to going quarterly.and only replacing what I absolutely MUST, due to budget. No one was in fragrance aside from me and my daughter for 25 mins(she loves to try testers and we write the name of the ones we like- my new rule is I must like it at 3 different visits before I buy now). No one was in the luxury skincare or makeup that I saw but 1 time, and we are always in there for 40+ mins.
I'm loving Kevin's one loose tendril of pink hair that just screams, "NO! I will NOT behave. Look at me, dammit! I'm gorgeous!" as he so nonchalently keeps trying to push it back into place.
The black foundation that is for no one’s skin tone is my top worst product of the year forever 😢. It was shameful that it was created and sold anywhere
People who tried to defend it and gaslight people calling them out by saying they have seen someone that dark are straight up delusional. Nobody is the color of tar. Someone used that foundation to pancake their pointe shoes black and it literally looks more black than a black sharpie.
People who tried to gaslight us into thinking someone is pure place is just a new level of delusion. I saw a ballerina pancake her pointe shoes with this foundation so she can dance as Maleficent and that foundation is darker than black sharpie.
“So what’s gripping? Because You set YOUR dirty fists on MY wallet!” I swear all my comments on your videos are just me reciting both of your one liners. BUT THEY ARE SO GOOD. They need to be memorialized.
The hierarchy of MA's at the Nordstrom near me is SO obvious. The woman at Chanel and La Mer will never even glance in my direction. The ladies at the Lamcome counter is so sweet. Not good for business because I now buy my products online. I won't give those Karen's any commissions 😂
The most real podcast out there. Y’all along with James and Robert Welsh are the only ones I trust when it comes to beauty advice because y’all tell the truth. ❤ Sending love
Moment of dork: It's also a museum of brutalism, an architectural style that's "characterized by raw, exposed concrete and bold geometric forms," according to a major architect. It arose after World War 2 and the term is believed to come from the French "beton brut" - raw concrete. Just the kind of place to raise a family! 🤪
It’s ok Suzanne! There are many of us you are not alone! First time I ever signed up for any patreon in my life was for B&B. Sure enough, my account was overdrawn by end of month! Should have known better! When you have limited income and have kids and grandkids, they are your priorities! Johnny and Kevin are wonderful, down to earth people! They understand that not signing for patreon doesn’t mean you don’t love and support them! Liking their videos and leaving a comment helps the algorithms! There are two other ways to support the channel but I forgot what they were. Johnny mentions them with every podcast. Things are hard for more of us than you think! I will pray they get better for you! Bless you Suzanne, I agree with your reply 💯🙏🏻🥰
Best video of worst makeup of 2024 so far on UTube! Tell it like it is Johnny and Kevin! That’s why we keep coming back for more! Love and support to you both! Hope you had a wonderful Pride month!🏳️🌈❤️🙏🏻💯👏🏼
@suzannev12 I'm with you sister! I can't subscribe either. I'm not working to full time take care of my mom since she was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer. Add to that, we are now looking at possible dementia diagnosis, so I'm not going back to work any time soon. I really, ReAlLy, REALLY hate that I am missing out on more Johnny and Kevin time, but it just can't be helped at the moment.
Church is in! Happy last day of pride month!! Ps Your recommendations of Dior and Natasha Denona for complexion products have literally changed my life! I never knew I could look this good with makeup! 😭 thank you both so much!!
“Spit at you like an alpaca” ☠️ I’ll never see beauty counters the same way again! 😂 y’all kill me … I have really similar coloring to you Kevin and feel the exact same way about GOLD eyeshadow, it’s like my “blue” as in I just cannot wear it and have it look good. The gold palette feels like such a sell out, like she’s been stifled creatively. … Hearing y’all talk about Kosas buying off the influencers makes me think of Tarte, they sent out PR for the new creaseless concealer/powder to all these smaller(ish) influencers on TT with a flippin purple IPAD ….what does an iPad have to do with makeup? Tell me you’re not creating bias. Even the most well meaning ethical person has to acknowledge unintentional bias created when brands do this shit. It feels like some kinda covert bribery, also so many small creators are devaluing themselves creating free content they honestly should be paid for ….
Sorry boys, just getting caught up today. ❤ I appreciate your take on Ulta & Sephora dictating what higher priced palettes get released. I mean they are poised to know WHO buys WHAT palettes from colorful to neutral, ColourPop to Pat McGrath. How dare they tell these brands what to release. It does a disservice to brands and all customers from us daily beat folks to occasional shadow wearers. No wonder all of NDs palettes are so boring!
I'm 58 and while I tend to go woth more neutrals, I would LOVE a palette from Natasha with some more color. I have been buying more Indie brands lately and have been very happy
Yesterday, I was at Ulta with my mom, and I was telling her about all of the knowledge I learned from y'all. The salespeople were wondering what I was talking about, and I told them about y'all and how I've learned a lot from y'all.
I love how you explain why something is bad. And then the way you guys riff off each other...I never knew I needed this (I'm not good with make-up, so I don't use it much) but I did! Thank you!
I’m so proud of Kevin, remember when they first doing the page, he could barely do the first part of the exit? He only said Remember you are beautiful . Love you guys ( I talk about you with my friends all the time.) ❤❤
I am Renovating my kitchen and making it as close to my dream kitchen as possible. I told my partner that I would Help with the cost by really watching my make up and beauty product purchasing. U2 along with a couple other content creators on RU-vid are helping me so much with not thinking like I need to go out and try everything that is launching . And I also love love love how you talk a lot about drugstore or budget friendly make up. For several years now I Wouldn’t be dead on the budget brand side of Ulta, and now that is the side that I pretty much exclusively go to :) . You are truly doing work and performing miracles lol
Love the episode! Also I wanted to thank y’all because i started watching you guys to help my mom feel more beautiful. And after watching all the episodes of y’alls favorite makeup products. I made a little basket with the makeup y’all recommended for my moms birthday!! Making me best son of the year
46:20 I'm glad you called out the impact of Ulta and Sephora on the color stories of Pat McGrath and Natasha Denona eyeshadow palettes. Everything feels corporate day job lately.
I despise Twilight but was interested in that palette because of the colors. However I ended up not getting it cause I got so turned off by how Colourpop still allowed people to buy out the stock to just sell on Ebay for hundreds of dollars. To me that just screams that it's not about the loyal customers or fans, but just about the money. So even when it came back in stock, I skipped it. Never bought anything by Chantecaille. I love trying new makeup (and have way too much) but I could never get myself to drop quite that much. I have makeup from drugstore to Hourglass (about the most I'll pay but their face products last forever) but Chantecaille is beyond what I want to spend. I don't like the snobby image of it either. Great episode! Glad I saw this cause there were some products that you covered that had I seen online or in stores I might have bought cause it looked so cute! This brought me back down to earth, thank you! 🤣
Hey down here in Florida there’s still a kiko store at sawgrass mills mall, I was just there a few weeks ago and it’s still one of my fav places to buy makeup for a reasonable price. I got this frosty blue eyeshadow that I’m obsessed with
Had an awful week and was so looking forward to this to lift my spirits and you two did not disappoint. I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much for so long during an episode. Thank you for always keeping it real and spilling the hot tea.
So i paid for something recently with a dollar bill that had been through the ringer. This thing was in baaadd shape. Later, I told my husband about my " Bruised, battered, beaten, and BANKRUPT" dollar bill. B&B sayings are now part of my daily life ❤
I have a moulage kit for making up wounds and injuries for training purposes. I have a Ben Nye cream palette called bruise wheel! It has reds, purples, and a yellow. Perfect for black eyes!
Hi Johnny and Kevin, I love this video, I love it when you both are savage and brutally honest about products , looking forward to next week’s video. Love Katherine xoxo
I'm enjoying the Patreon so much and this episode made my Sunday ❤ Your recommendations are an immediate purchase and the passes I love because I hate wasting money on high-end garbage
Pease tell me no one was reallllly buying that stupid Twilight colourpop set for $400 😭😭😭 KKW house freaks me out. The kids "playroom" looked like a plain room you would find in a low security mental asylum. Thanks for the Rocky Horror reference. 😄💖 Been an addict since i eas 8 and saw it for the first time. 😅 Lol Mooncat just dropped a bunch of powerpuff girls nail polish. 😂
Kevin u are on fire today! I am obsessed with how u do the outro & your confidence since u joined grew soo much. I adore u both so much guys. Your chemistry is off the charts. U give me that added something I need to tackle the rest of the week.
I could never live in a house like Kim’s but I rly feel bad for the kids (I know, they’re rich) in the sense that she’s more concerned w/ her house being a cool social media background than an inspiring place for kids to grow up in. It lacks ANYTHING. It’s the interior decorating illustration of flatlining. I💜 color, seeing sentimental things around & feeling inspired in my home. That was Kanye’s brain child of a house. Looks sterile. SO much of this stupid expensive makeup lacks even the look of someone who cared, someone who loves the creative expression of makeup. I’d soooo much rather buy indie, especially when it comes to eyeshadow.
Always a delight and look forward so much spending time with you both and appreciate how much sass and laughs you give us, much love! Rock Pride together boys, enjoy yourselves!
Just got home from 24 hours at work and I'm so happy to just relax in bed listening to makeup chat from my faves ❤. Last week had some amazing bangers. Can't wait for the roast.
Essence is a good brand . That apricot collection was cute AF . . The highlighters , sun lighters , baked blushes are great . I have theee of their welcome to eyeplaettes : the welcome to Rome is y an exact dupe , but has a lot of the same colors as Too Faced Sprtiz palette for a fraction of the price . That one collection I agree was not it, but they still have some great products
The worst trend for me is when companies put spf in things that you're supposed to use in small amounts like blush, setting sprays, primers etc. It doesn't do s***. You need to put a lot of sun protection for it to actually protect. And don't get me started on spf in rinsable products like hair masks and conditioners. Jail. 🚓
We NEED you guys in this industry! Thank you for just telling it like it is. The price of makeup/skincare has gone through the roof..so give us what you claim the product to be. Period. Love ya! Steph xoxo
Oh my god Kevin! That outro was fucking phenomenal, why do I feel like a proud mother looking at Johnny to see if he's as proud as I am, because that was top tier host standard ❤️🔥
Actually I want them to put a button for cash in the videos. I can’t afford Patreon either but a lot of my fav content creators now have a thanks button along with like , share etc. that’s really handy, I give $2 now and then.
I’m sorry have to comment again uh Johnny’s face when talking about danessa myricks pride palette is the face I make to my single friends telling me that the guy treating them like crap is a nice man omg 😆
Can I just say the people on the Dior counter in Boots Market Street Manchester were nothing but lovely. If you go to Sephora in Nantes though there is a guy who looks like a statue, he is BEAUTIFUL and has the attitude of a Parisian waiter.
I’m actually glad to hear your thoughts on the Pat under eye powder cuz I’ve come close to trying that several times cuz I’m always looking for ways to make my concealer & powder set look better & cancel things out to the best of my ability. The Natasha concealer has been the best I’ve tried yet, I haven’t tried anywhere near as many as you two but that one is rly beautiful. Thin, pigmented so I need two dots & looks smooth but it lasts far better than anything on me. OMG the powder pearls🤦🏽♀️
The two of you being so honest, funny and still educating is a joy to watch! Thank you for always telling us the truth...I mean except for when you lied to Kevin 😂😉
I’m not that far in but I am cackling at Kevin’s shirt folding over resulting in hilarious faces like those ridiculous filters… That’s why I don’t wear shirts with single artists’ faces on them anymore.🤣
This was such a fun episode! I love listening to you two just read products/brands for filth 😂😂 Also, as if I couldn't love y'all more, Johnny eating Honey BBQ Fritos......you get me, you truly get me. 😂💜💜 Edit: "Muddy, foolish, olive behavior", "Baby shit bronze" omg you guys.......😂😂
Speaking of texture and crap makeup, I feel like every cream blush I've tried just sinks into every massive pore of my face and it's awful. Are there any that don't do this or do I need a way better primer? And which one!?
I'm catching up on all of your videos and every time they end, I think wow these two would be amazing showing us doing actual makeup on people. Can you please do that?
I would LOOOOVE a Natasha cool toned purple fun color story palette. I don’t wear enough boring neutrals to justify the bunch she’s come out with. Had NO clue being @ Sephora could impact your creative direction. Yes, lots only wear neutrals but so many ppl love the artistry. Look at daNessa’s holiday palette, indie palettes , etc
THANK YOU for saying that about the Kosas BB burst. I fell for the hype, especially because it doesn’t have SPF, because I’m allergic to everything except zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, but I hate it. It’s too greasy with too little coverage. I would’ve returned it to Sephora, but I purchased directly from Kosas. So disappointed.
