Something to note here - Variety had that court document link ready to go on article drop. The lawsuit was filed on Mon, 9/16/24, and the article was published Tues 9/17/24 with the fully redacted court document prepped. That is really quick turnaround, and makes me assume a few things: the lawyers/plaintiffs/reporter had already been in communication, the reporter had the article ready and was likely informed of the general contents of the lawsuit, the only delay on the article publishing was to ensure the legally obtained redacted documents would be available. The other thing I'm noticing is the variety link is a direct PDF download. Which means the journalist had a full file copy themselves to publish and share. There's a lot of coordination here, and those direct quotes are key, and I would also bet Rosanna played a part in getting everyone connected with the right people so this could be such a coordinated effort to get this into mainstream news as soon as it was filed. Because if there's no delay into mainstream news, that prevents any potential cover-ups/payoffs that allegedly could have been done after the filing before it hit mainstream.

Given how much sh¡t she's gotten before, I wouldn't be surprised if she covered the cost of a media/legal advisor to plan this out to be the least painful for everyone going against him, and good for her.
Even if they demand a jury trial, they probably have up to a week before trial to mediate and settle the case. Just because there is a jury demand doesn’t mean it’ll go to trial. A case I worked on this summer settled like 2 days before we were being called for trial and had to turn in our jury demand and instructions 5 business days before trial was set to begin.
Demanding a jury trial doesn't mean they won't settle, it just means _if_ it gets to the trial stage, they want a jury to hear evidence instead of just a judge making a ruling. It's legalese, honestly pretty run-of-the-mill. There are more _sensitive_ cases or cases where a jury trial isn't beneficial, but those are less common and can really only happen in civil cases.
This is a civil suit, not criminal. Criminal charges would have to be filed. I assume at the very least for the tax evasion would prob be filed once this circulates.

During the pandemic I had a job that hired me as a contractor but expected work at all hours without pay. I contacted the department of labor and did some research. Many employers misclassify employees so they do not have to pay them as other full time employees. Fair Labor Standards Act says you can not have someone do the work of a full time employee and act as such but misclassify them as contractors to pay them less. This is not fair wage. The Restoring Workers Power Act of 2020 was born because of the widespread massive mistreatment of those expected to work ungodly hours in unsafe work conditions without fair pay. I am glad this is coming to light and hope people are healing and get the fair pay they deserve

Adam, I don't know if you've ever watched the channel Hannah Needs To Yell, but she made a whole timeline breaking down how Jimmy Beast has ALWAYS been this way. Safety concerns dating back to 2017 and him building his channel off of "edgy humour" (saying slurs.) Also, unrelated, but her recent video on Gabbie Hanna is interesting and she has unique insights on the language and rhetoric Gabbie uses....since Hannah was raised in and /escaped/ a fundamentalist christian cult.
Adam! Thank you so much for covering this. My son was unfortunately a huge Mr. Beast fan. I always had a dislike for him but I didn’t push my suspensions on my child. He’s been around while I’ve watched your videos regarding this matter so I’ve had to gently let him know what’s going on (obviously in a way his young mind could grasp without mentioning adult matters) and to say I felt horrible is an understatement. He was really hurt. It’s one thing as an adult to hear something wild about a creator you enjoy; you feel gross, confused, perhaps guilty to an extent. But can you imagine how the kids may feel if/when the true character of their favorite creators comes to light? It’s bad enough to feel we can’t truly enjoy someone’s content these days because they’re all shitty people but these poor kids. Of course, you can’t trust everyone especially online but it’s insane how many people have been rightfully called out this year alone. Honestly, we as a public gave a lot of these people too much power and a huge platform. It’s sick.

I had someone on my facebook who was blindly defending him (pun intended) because "he helps people!!!" it was an adult man that was in 100% defense "I don't care if Jimmy knew" (about the Ava thing) "He helped 1000 blind people see!" (again, most of them were already getting the procedures, he also made it seem as though they'd never seen before. His charity stunts have been giving him good favour for too long and so many people fall for it, even adults, which is very concerning (like cult leaders or serial k!llers) I appreciate you being gentle with your kid and kind of swaying the little one away from Jimmy.

Hi! I'm a U.S. transactional attorney reading these court docs so my analysis is from that perspective and I have no court experience. I mostly review contracts. That said, a complaint is one sided. That's always something to note in court docs. They are from an attorney from either side so the information is biased. Period. Especially pre-trial. Some of these redactions are to protect the victims. Meaning they describe abuse specific enough to know who the victim is. Some of those redactions are likely related to Mr. Beast and his team not wanting to release commercial terms. Interesting that their original contracts did not exclude class actions and court action and that these people are able to sue as a class. A lot of times, you will see that right contracted away to mediation or arbitration. That may be thrown out after review on the agreement these participants/plaintiffs signed. Jury demanded is standard so not as big of a deal. It's usually waived in cases that are very technical like patents or finance cases, where an average person would struggle to follow along. "Upon description or believe" is a euphemism in legal to say "someone told me you did this shit". So they are very early in their investigation of this case. Not good for the plaintiffs.

Amazon Prime and Web Services corporate office is based in California so I'm assuming the contestants and staff signed a contract with Amazon which is why the lawsuit consistently refers to California labor laws, regardless if they filmed in Nevada. Cali's minimum wage is $16 per hour! Nevada's is $12/hr as of July 1, 2024. By contrast, the US federal minimum wage is only $7.25!!! Mr. Beast's production company is incorporated in North Carolina which hasn't raised the minimum wage so $7.25 applies there. This makes me think that Jimmy never had any intention of paying ANYONE an hourly wage so he must have classified EVERYONE as an independent contractor in violation of labor laws from the very start of this project. It seems really obvious that he was trying to pocket as much of Amazon's money as he possibly could by shorting labor costs and cutting expenses on things like food. He _wanted_ to screw over everyone else!!! I hope everyone who was harmed gets to join in on the class action lawsuit and sue the ever living sh*t out of Mr. Beast and Amazon!!!
