Missing the point that hard is something only rich people could do, the poor characters and their problems don’t seem real because “poor people aren’t people” it’s just entertaining to them.
@@vir_rmright like when the movie came out there were people tweeting something like "watch some random rich person buy an entire island to host some crazy shit like this" and that pretty much what happened😦
Most people aren’t able to make 10 million dollars in their whole life… Mr. Beast gets a budget of 100 million for one tv series and decides it’s not enough.
I remember back when the real life Squid Games was announced, a few people were saying how out of touch and ironic it was that Mr. Beast was recreating what was meant to be a criticism of rich people toying with the lives of the poor for their own entertainment. Really rings true with what info is coming out recently.
Crazy how people are .. just now figuring this out? Hasn't Mr beast been doing this for literal years??? Like his whole schtick has been "a bunch of people have to do this stupid thing and whoever does it the longest gets a bunch of money!". I could be wrong, I tried to watch a video of his a few years ago and found it insufferable so I'm no expert on what actually happens in the videos.
I keep telling everyone that humans are going to look back on mrbeast and other game shows as archaic and primitive cruelty. Like Roman empire pitting people against each other for the entertainment of the masses.
I know I'm going to get lept on for this...but JoJo is a creation of dance moms and specifically her mother. Her mother was bleaching her hair when she was two!!! 2!!! I don't know. I feel like she was a child star and I have a lot more sympathy for that
24 hr shifts for a healthcare professional w/ no indication for overtime pay is crazy. the pay for all the workers is disgustingly low, like all the ppl on set are humans not damn machines. I feel like this set is just a perfect case study on why unions are important.
As someone who does background work I can offer some perspective- the lowest rate where I live is currently 129 for the day (8 hours and then overtime) and we are expected to be on our feet a lot. So paying 250 for background isn’t the problem. The problem is they’re looking for specialized background/director selection roles which depending on the circumstances are a considerable pay increase. For example- it’s a pay bump if they have you doing any physical activity at all on set like running, dancing, etc. There’s a considerable pay increase for scenes where you have to be submerged in water/continually wear wet clothes. Any discomfort in costuming is compensated appropriately. So wearing a heavy outfit for long periods of time and doing other physically taxing things like it seems they want from these people is at least 500 dollars for filming days (8 hours plus overtime) in addition to being paid for any/all fittings. Thats industry standard. Anything less is disgusting.
can confirm, I’ve had to do 3 small videos before in school with other students and we had better safety procedures than all of his videos combined 😭 And this was in 8th and 9th grade, we were a menace yet no one got hurt running around the school unsupervised
@@solong_abigail it's so crazy how they allow boys to tackle girls in challenges and break their bones and stuff and then just continue without kicking the boy out or anything. whattt??!
nah i live a state away from nevada and the people who LIVE HERE can’t stand the heat even if we’re used to it, i can’t imagine coming from across the country or from another CONTINENT IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER
I visited my sister mid June since she lives in Vegas and i was so miserable cuz of the heat. And the wind just makes it worse. It’s legit an oven to me
For real! I saw that they were taking applications just a couple months before it happened and I was debating applying but with that little time and filming peak summer I was like this sounds like a shitshow, I’m so glad I didn’t apply!
Adam, thank you for covering this and for sticking up for what you believe in. People who are going through these situations and have no one fighting for them must feel so alone, and I hope that they can find some comfort in the creators that do speak out!
The fact that Mr beast put out a whole statement bc dan tdm called his lunchables a cash crab but hasn’t said a word about beast games is very telling to me
Keep in mind the dollar amounts are likely in Canadian dollars. Our dollar is worth less so it’s even less money than people familiar with USD think. So fucked.
They put out applications just 2-3 months before filming which was the first MAJOR red flag for me. I was BAFFLED it was that quickly as that is not nearly enough time to be able to do interviews, health and mental checks as well as everything else competition shows do before filming. I also remember hearing an interview not too long ago where Jimmy said he had no plans yet and it was like half a year away from being filmed. Literally insane.
I want to hear what Jeff Probst thinks about all this. People signing up for Survivor are actually consenting to a more intense and dangerous experience, but even then they seem to take better care of their contestants and have a very thorough vetting process when screening participants
Theres definitely a tax dodge happening cause if you pay people under a certain amount you can call it a stipend or a gift which is different than a paycheck. Similar to how if workers are considered freelancers Vs regular employees you can get around certain tax laws. This is all so shady
It should be canceled! Do not let Jimmy or Amazon get a single cent off the suffering of these people they completely scammed! Fuck the show. This is a human rights violation and needs to be stopped.
you know what would be awful but so on par for mr.beast is if he had some employee plants in there like how he does his other challenges. i swear if the show comes out and it’s revealed that the winner works for him im gonna flip
Tbh I'm not surprised amazon just let this happen cause while working for them to deliver packages it was a shit show as well. That company only cares about making the highest in the company richer no matter what imo
This!!!! Amazon will 100% try to deflect all blame to beast productions but they need to be held accountable for this! If they didn’t know, at best their absolute negligence caused harm to so many people. Just a bunch of greedy idiots with soooo much money 😩😩😩
plus if they give him control they can say "we had nothing to do with how terrible the production was, we relied on him to do it" and get themselves off the hook
@@dunjunart that's exactly how they do it with their delivery system as well; they hire individual DSP's for different areas so unionizing is harder and it's a lot more difficult to hold amazon accountable for the regulations they enforce it's absolutely wild
i remember somewhere around 2016/2017 i came across a video of mr. beast reacting to animation memes made by kids and he was just dogging on them. i was like “wow this guy’s a jerk” and kind of forgot about him, then only a few years later he was known as this good and generous dude, i wonder if he would’ve been more widely known as an a hole if his older content had been more popular
I am from Las Vegas and this summer was our hottest summer ever. It was over 120 Fahrenheit for multiple days. It is definitely not the place to have a game show.
I think the saddest thing is people/parents trusting these massive youtubers the same as they would trust a TV star releasing (heavily regulated) food or products and buying it for their kids thinking they are doing something nice for their kid. Makes me so sad
I think Amazon decided to give them full liberty because if they didn’t, they probably wouldn’t have gotten the deal. Stephanie Soo made a video about the 3 body problems series on Netflix. Netflix got the deal because Amazon refused to follow the requests of the owner of the book.
Yeah that is why they gave him full liberty cuz he was trying to find a streaming site that would do that. I also wondered if they agreed so if something like this happened Amazon could say they had no responsibility
@@lexsmith1499 the band is a few years older then the magazine, but the magazine’s name was apparently influenced by the same song that The Rolling Stones name was based on
How can someone watch squid games and think ‘yes I like this, I’ll make my own real life squid game’ missing the whole point of the show. It’s really dystopian
It's an incredibly understandable mix-up, but also, every time Adam says "Rolling Stones" instead of "Rolling Stone" I'm just struck with the mental image of Mick Jagger and Keith Richards sitting down at the keyboard in full journalism mode to do their part to document the Beast Games scandal, and it's so unintentionally funny 😭
Dude. The laughing cow is such a Mandela effect... I swear she used to have a nose hoop piercing or whatever cows have. This lawsuit is only the beginning... I suspect that things will keep getting worse. Congrats on nearly 500k! I came in rather late to the channel, around 70k, and the growth is awesome!
not shocked anytime amazon not providing safe and fair working conditions is brought up also love adam calling the magazine “the rolling stones” like the band instead of “rolling stone”
It almost kind of sounds like an insurance scam. They intentionally treated ppl badly, so that ppl would break the NDA, so they could sue for the production value, so debtors have to go after scattered payees. Most of my NDAs do not specify a penalty outside of termination, so the amount requested seems QUITE sus to me. I haven’t worked on a movie set tho which might have terms like that, so correct me if I’m wrong.
@@lydiamvaughan Unfortunately, a lot of the "threat" of NDAs is that the people being victimised by poor businesses aren't in a position where they can fight a lawsuit over the illegal crap they're subjected to, but you're right that NDAs and the like are essentially void if it's found that they're being used to cover up criminal stuff.
I can't believe you're at nearly half a million subs, I've been subbed since you were still a fairly small channel and to see you now have 450k subs just seems insane?? Congrats!!!
Oh damn, though this whole situation is reminding me of the whole SciFi authors warning people not to do things and then people instantly running off to go and do the things
I feel like the fact that rich people keep doing this means that there’s an issue with courts or with settlements, etc. because it seems like it’s easier or cheaper to pay the lawsuits or settlements than to pay people. The punishments need to cost a lot more
I feel like this is free publicity for the show and now because of this lawsuit everyone's going to want to watch it when it comes out and it's going to be very successful. This is just the way things work now and it's really sad and sick.
Born and raised in Vegas not only is it dumb to do physical activity in any month other than late October to early January it's deranged. Not only did they pick the hottest month but they also filmed during our peak temp this year. Making them sleep in a concrete and metal hot box with a skylight it's quite literally criminal
whats funny is back in April of last year I noticed his videos were getting so crazy and so intense I would see the titles and watch them then be jaw dropped at how insane the videos have gotten over time I knew I was right I kept saying to myself he is going way toooo far i am surprised he has not collabed with david dobrik lol
Filming in Vegas is not only dumb because of the intense heat in peak summer, but he could have made it even cheaper by going to a state that's not as expensive or as warm in the summer
They're being treated better in Toronto because Canada has much better labor laws than the US does, they couldn't get away with the shit they pulled in Vegas, they would be fined to hell and back.
One of my best friends auditioned to be in the show as a joke not thinking he would get in but he ended up being selected for the first round of contestant picking. He got calls from reps and everything. Just the fact that straight up saying “death is possible” was the contract u have to read and sign is very scary lol
That’s how the rich says rich. U keep as much of it as possible. And sure if he films only when he gives away money so it’s a tax right off. As long as whatever he spends on things for your job you can usually right it off for taxes
The most shocking thing in this video is the fact he’s 26, not 36 minimum?! This doesn’t surprise me, judging from the other videos you have made on him. Which is mental to not be surprised by such horrible stuff!!
Because during Adam's livestream yesterday, he left the stream to get changed and put on some of his old RU-vid videos on from when he was a kid at Christmas opening his presents. He was saying "Thank you ____" to each person who gave him gifts. "Thank you Auntie Linda" in his cute little boy voice and Irish accent, amused everyone.
I started the video and saw your shirt and immediately fell into Christmas mode, we called it Laughing Cow Disease Cheese in my house and it was only eaten during Christmas for some reason
“Nightmare Blunt Rotation” immediately put me on the ground, I just made my “problematic smoke circle” video that is actually not as bad as this rotation 😂❤
