As much as I don’t like the media, idk if I’m a fan of this type of video, not every vote is gonna be unanimous and seing an oddball vote might get that player some attention they otherwise wouldn’t get. Maybe that’s just my bias against dream teams and unanimous decisions talking. After all, a vote where everyone voted purely off of stats would be insanely booring
The quotes and proverbs you choose to feature in your videos makes me believe you have a right-leaning political philosophy. Not throwing shade at it, just saying...
Keep exposing the inconsistencies and bias in the NBA. I never even thought about the voters until you started making videos about it. I love your channel
Is it really that hard for people to vote based on who they think performed the best or contributed the most to the season instead of "politicizing" their vote through all these hoops and hurdles? Normal people: "I voted for Y because I thought he had the best season among all the players." Award Voters: "I voted for Y because I didn't think that X deserved every single first place vote from us and I had to vote for Y or X would get unanimous opinion." It's crazy. I didn't even think much of Shaq being 1 vote away from unanimous MVP until the dude came out and said WHY he didn't place a unanimous vote. These people must be mentally ill or something.
LeBron was also almost unanimous MVP in 2013, but a voter voted for Melo because 'the Knicks wouldn't make the playoffs without Melo, but the Heat would.' Mental
I swear this people just pick names they recognize. It's like when I have my wife fill out a March Madness bracket even though she's never watched single second NCAA basketball so she just picks the schools of which she's familiar with the name.
@@mr.anderson1562 I see things like Isiah Thomas on an all defensive team despite his most obvious weakness and what keeps him off rosters is his DEFENCE. It makes me wonder if they are actually watching players or are just picking names they know or players they heard have a good season
I love how as the video goes on, his voice stays pretty calm, but you can hear a whisper of his suppressed outrage leak through once in a while. These videos are fire.
I support this channel 100% but DAMN these videos just make me mad 😂😂😂 they get PAID to know basketball. Most of us dream to do that, and they are so ignorant and lazy....
Only retired HOF star players and coaches that won championships should be allowed to vote on the NBA awards, in my opinion. These idiots are voting for players whose teams they cover, their favorite players around the league, and their lil crushes. Giving no thought whatsoever to who's play actually merits a vote and how high on the ballot they should go.
Liam Foster I think the All NBA/Defense teams were more credible when the coaches voted for it. A dude like Klay would’ve made All Defense years ago if the coaches still voted.
She works for Tencent. Chinese company. The NBA allows a Chinese national, working for a Chinese company, which has to follow the Chinese Communist Party line, to vote for American basketball players' awards. What do you bet she scoured their social media before voting for "correct" political thought?
I'd donate if I had money. Your videos always approach things from a completely objective perspective, which is very fresh in comparison to other basketball channels. I'm guaranteed to learn something new every video! Thank you!
Just realized I wasn't subscribed and I'm disappointed in myself lol I love when people call out inconsistency in sports media, rigged situations, etc.
Salute BE, Another dope video. I see alot of people commenting on this series saying players should be the sole voting pool. Can we get a breakdown on the quality or non quality of past player lead voting if possible whenever you decide to pick this series back up?
Love your videos, but i think you need a better audio/mic system man. The repetitive sound in the background makes it pretty tough to sit through 15~30 minute video and kinda buzzy, low quality voice makes it worse. The quality of the content is great, but the technical part needs some improvement.
Great Video! My only thing is that I think MVP and all nba teams can have different definitions. Like having Kawhi 3rd on mvp could just mean he had the 3rd best season or was 3rd most valuable but he isnt a better player than like KD so KD could get the all nba nod.
I agree. MVP is a measure of how valuable a player is to his team. All NBA is a measure of how good a player is compared to everyone else in the league at his position. Thomas was more valuable to the Celtics than Curry was to the Warriors in '16-'17 (MVP voting), but Curry was still the better player (all NBA voting).
Glad you enjoyed the video. Here's my reply: So by that logic, you have no issue with the Isaiah Thomas ballot at 17:00, right? And theoretically, that means you also wouldn't have an issue with giving a player a 1st place MVP vote, but then keeping that same player completely off of your All-NBA teams; If you're being consistent.
@@BasketballExamined I'm fine with not having isiah thomas on the all nba team although I wouldn't have Demar on there either. And for your second point, yeah it is possible for a player to have the best season in the nba but still have players who are better than him. It would need to be like a star who is like in the perfect situation and have the stars align for him i guess
My one gripe with this is that MVP and All NBA are different awards in my eyes. You need to be both talented and on a winning team for me to say you're a MVP candidate, while if you're only talented you can make an All NBA team.
Of course people are going to have home bias - they see those players more often, they’re top of mind, the likely have a personal relationship. Not really anything new there. Definetly interesting to see such inconsistency on a voters ballot - it’s almost like they forget what they put on their all nba ballots
That steve kyler vote, was so stupid and non-sensical in my own opinion because he is preventing a player to get paid higher. If he want to make conversation do it by using your own platform.
Not a TWolves fan, but you probably already know this better than most KAT isn’t AWFUL defensively the way many people seem to think he is (he’s obviously not great either) But the TEAM is absolutely broken defensively (and overall 😂) and the coaching has been disastrously bad
Votes should only come from players of opposing teams much like how All-Star reserves are chosen. There's way too much conflict of interest with the media.
You would think these fools would take their voting more seriously. Some guys have contract bonuses if they make this team or that team win 6th man or whatever. Obviously with all the MJ/Lebron talk and all the ranking of players and shit that goes on that yeah putting Lebron anywhere near a defensive team during his 2nd Cleveland stint is mental. Obviously having Thomas on a defensive team is borderline trolling. Some of the fools have obviously given out a small favour without really impacting any end result (like giving some no name rookie a 3rd place ROY vote. Rookies playing for the team they cover.) it’s unlikely to impact the end ROY result but geez where’s your integrity 🤷♂️🤷♂️
the real question should be why do these people have a job? their logic is questionable at best. in another country or another sport these people will never be employed or have any fame or attention.
What is the logic of these award voters? If you gonna vote a player i.e. DPOY ballot and then put one of the out of the all and 2nd defensive team? This why people have doubts against journalism, those "award voters" that do this, are voting according to what is the best narrative they believe in.
What wrong with Kawhi as he was mvp and dpoy candidate that year hasan best season gobert made all nba and all defense first team but green should have won and did and could be cosenus all votes but others had a good case
Brother, after divulging all this data, the video would've required a point made in order to be complete. I mean, I clearly understand what's going on and the reasoning behind all this inconsistency in the votings, but you should've said it yourself as well to help everyone who's understanding is not as pronounced to catch up on what the issue actually is. Otherwise it's just a whole lot of data but with no meaning
