In this tutorial video I will show you how to update the firmware on your Express LRS transmitter and receiver. In my video I will be using the RadioMaster Zorro radio and EP 2400 receiver.

In device is it now ok to select TX12 2400 TX instead of zorro? Before when I first purchased this radio the TX12 2400 wasn't in the list. Also, if you are updating the version why then do you need to update the LUA script? Looking in the folder on the SD card there is a LUA script there.

Hi Mark, yes you do need to update the Lua script manually. You must select the correct firmware for your radio.

thanks for all the tutorials, using your linked video I tried to update the ERC5Ci rx in my car but every time I choose the RadioMasters ER5Ci- 2.4 GHz PWM RX in the configurator and choose the pop up wifi it defaults back to RadioMasters MT12 internal

I would suggest checking the IP address being allocated to the receiver. You do this by logging into your router normally as admin and check the address. All routers are different so cannot point you where to look.

Hello! Great Video!! I have a problem is with the RX, it is completely frozen, the green light is always on. It does not enter Elrs Wi_Fi so I cannot make any modifications. there is nothing! I want the latest 3.0 update of the elrs module, any help? Regards

Hi Rodrigo, have you tried applying power to the receiver quickly 3 times and plug in again? The receiver should go into binding mode. If this does not work you will need to flash the firmware again.

Hi, my drone the LRTern40 from gepRC all of a sudden started to get a warning saying that RC signal is critical and it kicking the fail safe on which is around 200 meters away clear line of site. it was not doing it before and I'm flying the same path. in the GEPRC site says that for my drone which is the "GEPRC Tern-LR40 HD O3 Long Range FPV" the receiver for 2.4 elrs is "GEPRC ELRS24" so when in ELRS configurator and i want to flash the receiver (not the controller) the options are "GEPRC Nano 2.4GHz PA100 RX", "GEPRC Nano(SE) 2.4GHz RX" and "GEPRC Dual Diversity 2.4GHz RX" do you have any idea which one is it?.

So im trying to help a friend flash his rx and doesn't have wifi on his computer. So we tried flashing it through betaflight pass through. But on the newest version of elrs configurator theres only a flash button at the bottom. And it doesn't matter what com port we use it fails every time. Do we need to hold down the boot button on the rx while plugging it in? Flashing it through wifi is so easy. Why isnt betaflight pass through as easy? What am i doing wrong? Ive always jusy flased everything though wifi and never used betaflight pass through before.

I assume you are not connecting to betaflight? Select your device manually then flash. No do not touch the boot button on the receiver. Are you sure the FC is being detected by the computer? I did everything here exactly as shown, only difference is that I'm using Radiomaster TX12 MK2 instead of a Zorro and I'm also using ELRS 3.0, but, at the end when I click on ExpressLRS in the system menu, it brings me to a page that says loading and I'm stuck there until I power off my controller. Any possible fixes? Nothing seems to work that I've found on the internet.

Sometimes it takes a few seconds for your computer to see the connection. Once you have downloaded the firmware disconnect from your home WiFi and see if the ExpressLRS WiFi appears.

@@the-happy-RC-flyer i do let the wifi on Tx running for few minute but its not showup in the pc , mybe i need to disconnect home wifi to make it appear . I will try it later . my Rx seem ok , when the elrs receiver go into wifi mode , my pc can detect it automatically show in the list . But not with my Tx . I use elrs zorro max , i afraid this model doest have internal wifi on the remote . I dont know . is that possible ? For now my internal remote elrs stuck at v3.0 since i cant update thru wifi . my zorro already have latest firmware .

@@Fz.adrenaline if you have the Bluetooth option in the lua and you have an ExpressLRS module in your radio you should have Bluetooth.

When I build the firmware (using ELRS ver 3.3.2) I only get one file called "firmware.bin.gz", not two files like you. I tried flashing with the file I got, but it did not work.

@@the-happy-RC-flyer Hey! I figured it out with the help of people in the Express LRS Discord. Apparantly getting the "firmware.bin.gz" is completly normal since ELRS Config ver. 1.6 To make it work I had to change a couple settings in the LUA script. I didn't really understand what I did, just followed instructions. But it ended up working... 😄

Hello Bill I know this is 10 months old lol but I am having a problem binding my quad and I think it's because my receiver has 3.0 and my radio has 2.0 but is it possible to flash the receiver to an older version of elrs? Thanks for any help✌🏼

Yes you can but I would suggest updating the radio and receiver to the latest version.

@Bill Clark the reason I want to flash down is because I have a few quads bound to that radio and I really don't want to have to flash all of them lol especially the one with the spi receiver I know those can be a pain! 😁

Have you set up the under receiver window in Betaflight receiver Mode: Serial (via UART) and Serial Receiver Provider: CRSF?

@@the-happy-RC-flyer When i power up my drone, the radio shows that it's bound and the drones flashing stops and stays solid. On my radio there is a C meaning connected and all the bars are on.

No. If you are downloading the LUA script to your computer is there an error when it is trying to download? Check the download folder the file is being sent to.

as newby i like your slower approach (as unlike americans, 100 miles an hour as you should already know this) .although i have been in electronics over 50 years (from thermionic valves to arduino micro controllers) i have never been a big fan of I.T. especialy when it comes to moving files,folders, copy & pasting etc. so when it comes to updating firmware i get lost. thanks to you now i can bind my receiver & progress to building my s500 quadcopter but still not sure weather qground control, mission planner or betaflight, thanks anyway, regards steve reed. also i would be happy to subscribe to you but this patreon & especialy discord stuff does my head in (worse than face book).

I would suggest try using EdgeTXPassthrough to update your transmitters firmware by using a usb c to connect your transmitter to your computer.

@@madforit9661 I do not Jumper T Pro to check for you. With OpenTX and EdgeTX you need an SDCard in your transmitter to have the sounds.

Make sure your transmitter is off plug in power to your receiver after 60 seconds, the default time period, the receiver should enter WiFi mode.

I set mine up awhile ago and do not fly to far mostly freestyle close so I never update until I get a new controller just save the firmware update to your PC for new receiver's if you do long range I would get new updates but I never ever had a range problem seems most updates are for faster wifi connection or data transfer not really range they go so so far on just 25mw its crazy I can boost up to 1 mega watt but only use 500mw and never falls below 94 ever I found its risky updating firmware very very easy to brick elrs receiver's just accidently pushing the boot button while install can brick them very very sensitive if it works DO NOT FXXXX WITH IT

updating firmware using wi-fi is confusing, becaues if you connect to expresslrs device through wi-fi, you lose internet connection. this will confuse people who are not familial with computer. one way to avoid this would be using another wi-fi adapter to connect to your wi-fi router and expreslrs at the same time. USB wi-fi adapter is cheap and readily available.

You first need to connect your TX and RX to your computer directly and put your WiFi and binding phrase on to the Transmitter and Receivers. You will not need any further equipment. Now in future updates your Tx and Rx’s will connect to your WiFi network.
