October 16th, 1987
Black Ridge Mountains
Private investigator Matthew Barker is on his way to meet up with his partner Daniel Houghton. A recent string of disappearances possibly linked to a serial killer in the town of Black Ridge has left the sheriff's department stretched thin.
Matthew and Daniel have been tasked by the sheriff's department to investigate a manor located in the outskirts of Black Ridge. The MacCarthy family, owners of the manor are thought to have disappeared and left the manor abandoned over a year ago. Locals have reported strange sightings and sounds from the areas surrounding the manor.
Once the investigation is complete they are to report any findings to The Black Ridge Sheriffs Department.
Exsanguinate is a puzzle-intensive giant escape room-style survival horror game. Solve fun but challenging puzzles while being stalked by a clever AI.

Hey CJU! Thanks so much for the playthrough. I tried to take the critiques you made on Meat Saw and improve on Exsanguinate. You're feedback really has helped! I actually tuned Ediths difficulty down because I had gotten some complaints that she was way too hard. Perhaps I made her a little too easy now. But I was happy to see you solved all the puzzles without major difficulty. I was worried they might be overly complicated. There will be a third game that will take place in Black Ridge :) Happy holidays and thanks again!

Gotta love the logic of this game. "Hey, I got locked in a basement, so how about I remove this random gem from some statue, that sounds logical" or "whoa, cupboard full of useless crap, I'ma take this doll's leg. Doll's leg is definitely something a person in peril needs."

This is EXACTLY my kind of game! I loved everything about it, the puzzles, the story behind it,the gorgeous manor, hidden creepy corridors, sliding bookcases revealing hidden rooms, bone chilling sounds, stealth, being chased, jumpscares, EVERYTHING I want in a horror game! I mean, the story even explained why there were puzzles in the manor, how often do we see that? And last, my top favourite part of the game, the phrase in the end: "To be continued..." Yes! Please be continued!!! Chris, soooo grateful for such games! You are the King of Horror for me! Stephen King for books, CJU for games. Period.

28:00 - Is that the theme of Nightmare on Elm Street? Some of the sounds seem familiar, almost Amnesia-like. I did enjoy this game, love the look of it! Thankfully you can hide, I love that in horror games though idk why... it just scratches an itch I guess. 31:02 Good scare, I jumped then instantly laughed at myself jumping, LMAO! Enjoyed the puzzles and that there is lore and a bigger world involved, I'm looking forward to more.

Haha!🤣😂 Yes! The hilariously genuine/rational reaction reminded me of 'The Alien Cube' walkthrough. A part when the character interacts with an obviously sketchy/dangerous machine, then unsurprisingly gasps in agony 😂 CJU just reacts with something along the lines of - "Oh christ...ooh shit...yep, I don't know what I'm doing..I should'nt be touching this! Get away from it!" Haha😂

CJU is forever being optimistic, which is both lovely and hilarious when disaster is just one step away. A lot of fun - 10 minutes in, this seems to possess the right balance of cheese, mistranslation and polish to be memorable. EDIT I absolutely loved the moment "I see something through there" and then.... lmao

This is one of those small instances where the game does it right on that ending by not letting the main character have his way, without making us feel upset that we got nothing out of it. At first, I was honestly confounded as to why he needed to perform the ritual, especially after having read all those notes that he picked up. But seeing that it was the only way to open the main entrance for his escape, he was baited into doing it, thinking that it will serve more to his advantage. It's a good way to set up a sequel. And gotta say, that jumpscare at 31:01 got me. XD

So based on this game takes place with working trucks and in the same universe as the last game which had a chainsaw and TV, I have to ask who would carry around what appears to be an Oil Lantern around the time this game takes place? I mean would made more sense they were carry a flashlight and maybe broke it when entering the house and had to use an oil lantern that was lying around, but nope this guy had this light source on him from the start.

Hey Alex, I actually used your suggestions on packaging out my game this time around and got the file size down to a little over a gb. So thanks for the help on that. Also people still used camping lanterns in the 80's and even today :p to be honest I wanted to play around with a different lighting source this time around.

That sliding puzzle with the eye is actually the album cover artwork from the "Cause of Death" album by Obituary, which came out in 1990.

OMG! Chris! I saw the mirror when you first found the first statue in the attic, then spent the time yelling at the screen that the mirror was right there in the attic. Also, seeing yourself by the globe startled me too! Totally didn't expect to see that. Cool they made a full/fleshed out character, even if you only see him momentarily. Really enjoyed the puzzles in this one, especially having a reason for them. A rare, but appreciated, touch. That was way more fun than Meat Saw, and I'm looking forward to the next one. Should be quite interesting. Hopefully, the protagonist will survive it. Lol! Sorry to hear the booster kicked your butt. So far, I've not had any reactions except a sore arm. Don't know if that's a good thing, or not.

It sounds like you drowned the Tidy Bowl Man when you gave the throne a flush. And that intro had Max Headroom or Probe vibes. Isaac Asimov was involved with Probe which was a precursor to Muldur and Scully's platonic work relationship in the first seasons on The X-Files. I really thought the doll was going to help you control Edith or maybe help set her free.

Watching this I realized that doors are for us against "monsters" just like blankets on the bed, deep down "monsters" could catch us anyway by pulling the blanket or opening the door, but for us false security is what matters. I would have preferred that you had left the flashlight off in bright places because the yellow light bothered me. I found the "dummy" intelligence a bit dumb and easy to get around because it didn't react to the various sounds you made around the house, and the "dummy" sounds didn't seem to come from where they were, causing confusion , but I had fun, the scares were very good and the history too and I particularly really like that they have given an explanation for the existence of the puzzles.

It was fun! I really liked the story, simple but effective. Although there was not much of a threat, there were some interesting moments. It also has an operational whining toilet. What else can we ask for?

This was really good! I thought Meat Saw had great atmosphere and good ideas, but was lacking a bit in the execution. But this game's a winner. As you said, ideal length too. Looking forward to the next game!

It's a nice game and I've enjoyed the playthrough. I think this is the kind of game that could really work with a good ending/bad ending final act, but I understand that things turned out this way to support a larger narrative. Cheers, and Happy festivities!

great start! i love the house and atmosphere! but being in the middle of no where is still ridiculous. and infinite lantern/matches. just how i like it! okay,the red eye demon thing was kind of ridiculous. having no enemies is better than this. puzzles,going back to being in the middle of nowhere....no one would likely be anywhere near this house let alone inside. why would you still get this ridiculous security for several things despite this? !?they actually tried explaining why this exists!? madness! developers never explain! still...if this is the case...it still doesn't make sense there are any in the basement. or how much trouble they would be in if they locked important things like keys in them. and the power was out... and yeah the notes being all over the place is ridiculous. why would anyone do this? why is he even writing these diary pages to begin with? who exactly does he expect to read them. in a house in the middle of no where. 23:15 the red gemstone being for an owl eye wasn't obvious!? to a master of puzzles!? "i scared myself! by seeing myself!" i don't think anyone would have expected that! ....this entire game exists for the sole purpose of setting up a sequel....

You sound absolutely amazed that someone has the time to be able to sit down and play a video game. Sometimes the indie horror games he plays literally don't even last for 20 mins. Compare him to a parent with young kids that go to work all day, come home and start their other job. Or compare him to a nurse that works 12 hour shifts sometimes for 5, 6 even 7 days. I'm not trying to discourage CJU in anyway, he enjoys playing games and we enjoy watching him do it but your comment is crazy and the fact you're so blown away about how he finds the time to play video games just shows your undeveloped your brain is and how it sees reality. You need to grow up.

Lots of fun! Some because of the game, (and maybe it was just me,) but also because Chris seemed very happy in this video. I mean, he always seems happy- even when not feeling well, but something--- lilting, in his voice made me enjoy it even more. Ohh man 🤣 That sucked.... Just imagine you're living in a nice town , but suddenly a stupid dude released all Hell on from a Portal 😅 ( The first dude who done it , to save up his Wife.... He managed to pull it off but he summoned 1 single bad demon... Meanwhile you as the Player , who wanted to shut it off. Screwed up and summoned more ). Releasing hell to this Town , and Dooming everyone 😂 The Ending reminds me of that awsome Movie "The Cabin in the Woods". Pretty much screwed all Humanity altho thinking you thought that you saved everyone which is Wrong lol 😅🤣
