How-to extend your wireless network. In this tutorial, I'm using the Linksys RE6500 AC1200 MAX Wi-Fi Range Extender to connect to my existing 802.11ac wireless network via an Apple AirPort Extreme 2013. Compatibility between the two devices is flawless as the Linksys works with most wireless routers & gateways. The fundamentals of this tutorial will apply to most wireless extenders; just follow the specific instructions provided with your device.
For half the cost of adding another Apple AirPort Extreme ($199), I was able to extend my wireless network and provide 4 Ethernet ports for various devices using this Linksys RE6500 ($99).

To fix that you have to connect your phone wifi to the linksys than go on the website and follow the steps than it will turn white

You have to connect to the linksys wifi on your phone in settings than visit the website and follow the steps and it will turn white

I got this Linksys RE6500 also extending my Airport Extreme 5th generation Dual Band router. This extender is super fast and it did extend my 5Ghz wifi, but the only problem I have with this extender is it does not support Time Machine. If you are connected to this LInksys RE6500, you will not be able to back up your Macs via Time Machine. You would have to connect to the Airport Extreme to do that. Wished Linksys supported Time machine.

I got one of these and when I set it up the linksys range extender setup wifi didn't show up. I can't manually set it up either since I do not have an Ethernet port on my laptop :(

This same model gives me FREE wifi 24/7 from a hotspot close to my apartment block... without it the signal was so weak... I could not stay connected. ( Remember you have to have a least a liitle signal to begin with ).

Does the extender need to be where there is a strong signal and then it boosts it or can it be where there is a weak signal and then it improves that signal?

If I click on the wifi icon and then click on the Linksys Extender Setuo it shows a square for Automatic connection and a button that says connect. If I click on the connect button it will connect to my home wifi but my internet won't work. If I click on my home wifi icon it will say connect. I click on it and my internet will work again but the Linksys Extender has disconnected. I can't have both of the connected so I am wondering, does my extender work properly even if it is not connected? I seem to have a strong signal. I have typed the web address in and it goes to a screen that asks for my user name and password. I have never been there before and haven't set it up so I don't have a user name and password. What gives?

This particular model is only going to latch on to one SSID. You’ll want something more robust (more commercial) than this. What are you trying to accomplish?

I try to connect to my network on the set up and it says my password is incorrect. I have am entering the correct password multiple times yet it doesn't work. Any ideas?

Something with QoS for sure. We use the AirPort Extreme 2013 but most would chose something else like a Netgear Nighthawk for their gaming router.

I have a problem. I set up my extender and everything. It was working well until I realized Almost every 40 or 30 minutes my NAT type would like have an error for 5 seconds than go back to being open as if nothing happened. It keeps disconnecting me from online multiplayer games. Its becoming annoying I don’t know what’s wrong. Even when connected with an Ethernet cable it does exactly the same thing and it does it to everyone who’s connected to the extended WiFi. The WiFi would stop working for 5 seconds and than it goes back

I'm trying to connect this range extender to my linksys wrt1900ac router and it's all good until the buffering and the "connecting..." comes on. Then it either say couldn't connect or it just takes me back to the WiFi search page. I don't know what to do and it's pissing me off.

+MrAliLonghorn double check your setup and configuration. Worst case scenario, do a hard reset on your extender and try the setup process again. Let me know your setup procedure

Very good quality video. One thing I would recommend is that you dont over explain things. You probably added a minute or two just explaining things you didnt need to. You said you wanted to keep this video clean, then right after you explained why you had a power cable or something already setup. wasnt very clean. Not trying to be a jerk, just trying to give you some constructive criticisms. Loved the quality and professionalism of this video though. Good luck in the future! :)
