Linksys Range Extender Setup 

YOU ARE A GENIUS!!! I bought two different models of the Linksys extenders. Followed the instructions several times with no luck in getting them to set up on my wireless at home. Finally gave up and put them in a closet for a few years. Got a Roku for Christmas, but couldn't get it to work due to a weak signal. Decided to check RU-vid and found your video. Even though all of my Linksys items were different than what you featured, I still got both extenders to work perfectly in five minutes or less!! Got the Roku to work as well. The entire house now has a strong signal, even the rooms that used to have a weak signal or no signal at all. If I have any other issues, I now know where to go!! THANK YOU!!

Thanks! The trick was having the extender sit right next to the router during setup. I originally thought "close" in the instructions could be in the next room, but they need to sit within a couple of feet of each other. Thanks for making that clear.

Perfect ! I recently changed routers and needed to reset my Linksys RE3000W I watched the first 7 minutes of this video, and 2 minutes later I had the Linksys working perfectly.

Original router died this year. Long story short bought new laptop and am using a room with a weak signal. Remembered I bought an RE6250 many moons ago and stopped using it years ago. Anyway I now need and extender and I tried this old RE6250. No directions and found your video. Setup was easy with your video. Its working exactly how you stated, now have solid green and 5Ghz signal. Thanks much!!

What if you wanted to use your modem as a router how do you setup and connect

Bit of a different scenario for me, I'm in a dorm that already has multiple extenders throughout the building ( which is all concrete with steel doors). I DON'T have access to the router ( behind locked door), which means I can't use the WPS method. So if I have to set it up via WiFi method, is plugging in my extender close to dorm's extender the same as plugging in close to the router?

Nice video dude. I have the wrt 32x and my 2.4 and 5 ghz bands are combined. Will the range extender keep both bands combined or so I have to separate them?

I can't extend the 5Ghz signal with the extender, it just fails and i see only the 2.4Ghz_ext . Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks for the informative video. I haven't tried the WPS Setup, but will. I've used the web-based setup & followed the prompts throughout the process. The Router in question is the EA7300, whose firmware has Seamless Roaming built-in as does the RE7000. During the process, the onscreen prompt recommends keeping both the Router & Extender's Network names identical for the best Seamless Roaming experience. If I adhere to the prompt, the Extender's name doesn't include the _EXT suffix. Beyond that point with respect to connectivity, everything appears fine except for a Vizio Wireless TV, which loses its ability to connect to the Network. As soon as I unplug the RE7000, the TV connects to the Network. Have you any ideas what could be causing the disconnect with respect to the RE7000's configuration?

Can you connect to your router's original signal or do you have to connect to the additional two networks? If that's the case it's the same as adding another router to my network.

to go a greater distance could I connect CAT 5 cable to both the router and the re6400 and then count on the re6400 to provide the router signal at the distant point?

Partial success with a Linksys RE 6800. My router is from AT&T U-verse. There are actually two routers. One large box called a 5268 AC and a small one called a wireless access point it is a VAP 2500. Both have WPS. I first tried the small wireless access point and it failed. I then only pushed the WPS on the larger modem and it had success to the slower speed but not to the 5G. When I tried a second time it continues to fail. The modem does have both frequencies. I see the NON 5G I am talking to you now on my iPad connected to 5G directly from the AT&T U-verse modem. I've attempted the alternative set up but my particular Linksys extender is not listed in the Linksys website. Very disappointing. Brand new from Cosco. Hope I have provided sufficient information for a solution. LOVE your video. Thanks very much.

How many extenders can you have at one time.? Also can they be in a line extended or has to be around the house?

All four of the connections show. I’ve set up the password for all four connections as well. My problem is I’ve moved it about 30’ plug it in to outlet same as you. flashes green then flashes amber then goes solid green, connection show up but I can not connect to the ext.

Hi, I hope you can help me, Ive got a WRT1200AC wired to my RE7000 to extend the signal of my WRT on my second floor. I just bought a RE2000 but it doesnt have the option to extend via cable, only via wifi but I dont really have a good conection on the floor where I wanna repeat my WRT, I have the cable ready but the RE2000 doesnt work like this... do you know if the RE41000 can be wired to repeat the signal or do you know which one else can do this like the RE7000 but is not as expensive. Does this set up go exactly the same with a Netgear router? Also, what if there's another kind of booster set up to my router, will this add on no problem?

How do you reset network settings. I have a new router and it won't forget old settings after pushing reset.

Setup was simple, and it works, but it randomly drops signal. Any suggestions? It’s placed not far from router and when it works, it works good, but then it will drop signal to a device but still have a green light on the extender.

I had to reset both my extenders (probably overkill, but I have a 2-story house with the router in the farthest front office upstairs, one extender downstairs almost within straight shot, then other extender behind opposite end of house) don't get the green light, but do see the ext. on my phone

mine a 6300 never did get pure green but it stopped blinking and the network said it was working. . . . and then, it really wasn't working cause the wifi computer never got more than 3.8

You can't use WPS if you use Mac Filtering. Is it possible to turn of Mac Filtering connect the extender and then turn Mac Filtering back on?

I have mine fully set up and everthing but after a little bit of me useing for my pc it will disconet and lost internet complely and it happen 4 to 5 times every day can you please help me out

This kicked my ass! Dont have a router with WPS button / I have a Modem Arris 6190 and have the Linksis mesh system. I took Laptop and Cat 5 cable connect to the RE7000 / worked like a charm :)

How long can I use it for, like what’s the limit

I locked down my linksys router so the MAC address of device has to be on the router so my wps is disabled. Can I turn on my turn it on set up the extender then turn it off? Could you make another video showing how to set up the extender using the browser?

I have my extended 2 and a half to 3 ft connected next to my router and it’s still not solid green wth
