Nice but SA will need to be more clinical with the finishing against Wales if they want to reach the final. Defence was good though. They defended like they were possessed.
What I enjoyed most about this game is the way Mapimpi finally got his revenge on both "Ferraris" for that take-out in the air. All their hype didn't scare him and he just ran straight through them
Mapimpi was phenomenal in this game and Matsushima was a disgrace. Matsushima couldn't accept the fact there was a wing faster than him and resorted to crummy fouls.
Many Japanese confess not concern in rugby(include me). But this world cup 2019 let me teach rugby's excitingness. I decided to watch national team match from now. Rugby's rule is complicated. So I learn rugby's rule gradually. Actually are there new rugby fans like me many in Japan, I guess. Thank you Japan. And I look forward strong RSA vs WAL.
I wish excitingness was actual word. The Japanese team did well and did bring excitingness to Japan rugby. That tackle by SA Tendai Mtawarira at 1:40 was an egregiously flagrant and dangerous tackle and he should have received the red card not a yellow. Wtf, was the idiotic ref thinking
I got interested from the last world cup. And got even more interested from this world cup. I learned about the rule of Rugby Union just today! Heard there is a league rule version as well. Is it so?
The important thing is that the Brave Blossoms got so many fans at this tournament. Tbh, I wasn’t interested in this sport but I wanna cheer all the rugby players from now on
@김두영 You are a dumbass. Racists have been shown to lack intelligence, or think that they smarter than they are. In other words, you're a dumbass. Best thing about this argument is that you can't reply because you would only weaken your position.
김두영 You should learn the rules of rugby first. Then check the members of other national teams. Be advised that you shouldn’t complain about what you don’t really know.
As a south African, I really enjoyed how everyone wrote us off and picked the opponents every time. Even the US mens sevens coach picked everyone against us. The thing is at a world cup you never write anyone off.
That MAUL DRIVE at minute 8:00 is something to marvel. You have to admire the power of the Mean Green Machine right there! Japan knew there and then that the Machine was now running on overdrive and they (the Blossoms) were completely gassed out already! You become an instant fan of the game just watching that DRIVE!!! Awesome indeed!!!
@Niven Munoo Only 30kg's difference and Bok pack was actually lighter than the Italian pack. Its all about technique and cohesion. The AB's will just collapse it and take the penalty,-thats their style. Its why the Boks have Frans Steyn in the team, maul from 50 yards out, get the penalty and bang it over. Rinse and repeat.
That was so mental especially after an hour without a chance despite pickiness. Man they dominated, like they were making sure Japan won’t stand again ever.
Huge congratulations from a Japanese to the clinical most defense by the Boks in the second half!!!! Their relentless pressure to almost every ruck was simply spectacular.
The fact that japan held their own the entire first half is frickin insane. They had a good world cup. Much better than Ireland and i say that as a proud irishman
The game I was looking forward to the most , so far. I am so impressed by the Japanese team, the Japanese people, quality of the facilities and the entire Japanese RWC in general. Well done. Domo arigato. Springboks for the win !
I am Japanese but have to say Japan was so out of gas and legs were dead in 2nd half. I mean I understand why coz starting players played all 4 games in pool and even till the last game and they were not qualified so they had to give everything in that last pool match too. Most of tire 1 countries in final knockout stage, they had some player on rotations in pool so players had longer time to recover as well. Nevertheless, South Africa played so well and much better than Japan and congratulations. I couldn’t see any way japan to score try against springboks tough defence. Congrats to South Africa. However Japan made us proud and they made a history.
Japan blitzed the first half, but don't have the strength on the bench at the moment to keep it up against a team like SA, who defended very well. Hopefully in 4 years time Japan will be even stronger.
I am Argentine, and I have to congratulate the Japanese team because they made a match for South Africa. The Saffas had to do their best to make it to the semifinals. I want to see the Sunwolves in Super rugby again and Japan in the Rugby Championship. Regards
@MAKE EUROPE CLASSY AGAIN Show some respect. All those player's maybe different in ethnicity, but they all share one culture nw and thats "Japanese Rugby Tier1"
@@keikuru1 England are a great side also!! It would have been nice to see the England vs France game so you could see where to build and get a idea of how ready you are.
8:00 As a Japanese, I really loved the driving mauls by the Boks. This particular one probably made the record in the distance gained by a driving maul in RWC, am I wrong? I feel Japan should never forget these mauls as they deeply remember the record loss to the ABs in the past RWCs.
As a Malaysian, watching this game remind me why i love Japanese rugby. Inspire me to face big-tough-hard life challenges with a brave heart. I will remember all these 2019 games for sure. And 2015 game still can't be erased from my memory.
@김두영 Sou ja nai yo 😂 You are choo funny.. and meccha meccha stupid dumb dumb, man. 🤣 Just because I'm supporting Brave Blossoms and Japan.. I would never could be a traitor to my ancestor, my people and my country. 💝 In fact, our relations start since 15th Century. We are celebrating Anniversary 62 Years of Malaysia-Japan ties. Our bilateral, diplomatic relations are strong and healthy. ☺️ Nihon to Mareshia no kankei.. Benkyo shite kudasai! 😉Dekiru ka? 🤭 Mattaku dekinai. 😂
@@kevinrtres But that is where I have a huge problem. If the assistant referee (linesman) sees a forward pass then he tells the referee and the referee calls the play back. But the TMO, who is the one seeing pretty much the same picture that we are seeing, cannot do that. What bullshit!! Rugby is dragging it's feet on the technology like cricket did, and no one can deny that cricket was vastly improved once the ICC embraced it.
SA was not perfect. Nevertheless, Japan could not do anything. The result of which Japan did best was the qualifying four wins, But South Africa knew how to win.We were honored to be able to challenge the great team again. Go!springboks🇿🇦 With respect From a Japanese.
Y・E Gassan thank you. Respect to the Japanese team. Inspiration all round. Now the challenge is to continue the support for them, and encourage progress to improve. Respect from a South African...
Really tough game, well played Bokke! I wanted to see Blossoms to go further more in their magnificent RWC, but that's the game! Proud of my fav team, Japan! Thank you! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
This to me was the best match in the RWC19 so far! Was so worried about Japan till about the 70th minute. They were insane and a true threat when the ball got to their backline. But man, South Africa was good in the 1st half but absolutely killed it in the 2nd half, that type of rugby is what the Springbokke are known for. Tough and relentless! Really hoping to see my nation face the All Blacks in the finals. Gonna be a real clash of the titans
Ref helped Japan so much in the first-half however they could not convert those chances into points Second-half ref was doing his job better than first-half and Springboks started to show their quality Well done Japan 🇯🇵 You made everyone proud of you Thank you
I am a Japanese and am probably nowhere close to you South African fans in evaluating the ref's calls. However, I doubt the effect of officiating in terms of the huge gap of scores in the second half. I simply feel that the Boks were far more phenomenal in the second half. Japan collapsed due to the accumulating injuries in the pool games and the continuous pressures given by the Boks. Congratulations to the Boks!
Even though I’m Japanese I’m glad Japan lost. What is the point of winning with this referee. Sa to the contrary did really well. A massive congratulations
Faf de Klerk was constantly offside never got called for it. Even the yellow card was supposed to be a red according to the rulebook. Let's not even talk about the rest of the game (grabbing players' jerseys when they're on the ground so they don't get up - that's Faf as well-, not moving away on most tackles and hands in the ruck and/or while lying down...). Japan did get away with some forward passes though.
I love the respect Japanese fans gives their opposition. Class. Loved watching them play, shat myself in the first half and proud of my Boks for the win. Hope Japan can keep this upward turn!
What utter respect we South Africans have for the awesome Japanese people. You can still hold your heads up high even after you lost 26-3 to us, the score actually flatters SA tbh. Thank you for showing the world your ethics, integrity and respect, something we lack big time back home in our country. God bless!!!!
Thank you Japan, congratulations South Africa. This world cup is the best I've seen so far. I'm happy that the Japanese people have had this positivity in the wake of the typhoon, they've put on a great event and the matches have been brilliant. ❤️️ I can't wait to see more of Fukuoka and Matsushima, they've shown themselves to be world class rugby players. 👍
Human can be born anywhere, any part of this world. His mother is Japanese. Nobody could change the fact that Matsushima's nationality is Japan. He is Japanese since toddler. I'm glad he chose rugby. Not soccer.
@@floridamukimuki Gees you guys are a bag of joy. I wrote the comment with a winking smiley face to emphasise the irony of it and heres me, a S African whose family has been in the country since the 1600s and the South African government says I'm from Europe LMAO Maybe I should also become Japanese. -glad I'm not as seriously as you guys and what's wrong with having foreign born players in the national team anyway? Many countries do. Sore looses or what 🤣
Well done Japan! 🌸 🏉 For me Japan was the most exciting team to watch, and I'm from Scotland! 😁 Nobody can ever call a Japan win an 'upset' again, Japan are tier 1 in my opinion. I hope this amazing support from the Japanese continues and Japan grows to become a major player in World rugby. Maybe one day rugby will be more popular in Japan than baseball. I can't wait to see Japan in the Olympics in the Rugby 7's, you have a new fan!
When Japan learn how to 'play the rules' like the main teams (when to give away penalties) they'll be contenders. If they apply Japanese efficiency to rugby, as they have to manufacturing etc, they'll be world champions for sure. Great effort.
This hurts my ears because I’ve heard that numerous times for soccer and a lot other sports out there lol It’s considered uncool in our culture but think this game taught a lot about it. I mean there are clearly more to why Boks won than ‘play the rule’ thing, but I’m excited to see how our team progresses. And more than that course, super excited for the next game. I’m totally rooting for Boks!
No they won't, this team was made for THIS world cup. If Japan are serious about rugby they'll pump money into their grassroots rugby. If you want to know what a rugby team will look like in 10 years then look at their schoolboys or under 20 rugby teams. Japan will slowly drop rank after this world cup.
This World Cup has been amazing for world and Japanese rugby, but I honestly don’t believe that the way the refs have protected them and given them so much leniency whilst being much harsher on their opposition is actually doing them much good. The number of blatant forward passes, horrendous tackle attempts and allowing of basic “professional fouls” is pathetic. If this game was played anywhere else in the world it would’ve been 50 points.
BEAST 1000 the thing is though, a lot of Japanese people were exposed to Rugby Union through its four pool A wins, so the grassroots will eventually become stronger. The best thing for Japan is if it becomes a more popular sport like baseball. I personally live in Kobe, where 4 pool matches took place, and a lot of people now have interest in rugby as a sport. I assume this is the sort of grassroots you are talking about.
it was hard to watch...woke up at 5 am to watch this game...Boks are giants 2 meters and 100kg force of concrete...their defense is so strong Japan could not get through them.
The Brave Blossoms played their hearts out. Salute! But what’s wrong with these refs officiating most Boks games? I just hope when Boks meet NZ the ref won’t be biased. Thanks for the great RWC Japan!!
@@henryireton11 If you knew the rules then you wouldn't have written this garbage. A red card offense is if a player is dropped above the shoulders. Beast dropped him on his shoulder and arm and the tmo even pointed that fact out. Hence it is yellow because he dropped him further than the horizontal but not red card because it's not on his neck or head.
@@lawrenceatherton4310 It wasn't a round the neck challenge. Watch it again, both players are in the air going for the ball, both players eyes are on the ball, Mapimi's head ends up between his arms... that's NOT a round the neck or head challenge, it's simply two players contesting the ball in the air. There was nothing intentional, malicious, or foul play about it. the ref's call was 100% correct. Watch it again without your Castle Lager goggles on.
Much respect to Japan ! What a joy it was to watch your games ! Congrats to South Africa ! Amazing team ! Incredible united effort starting on minute 64 (8 on this video) ! That's what rugby's all about: TEAM WORK ! I wish soccer could learn more from this beautiful sport !
Hard luck to Japan, in the end South Africa just grind Japan down, they didn't let Japan play their normal expansive game. Japan are great host, I would say this world cup in Japan is the best & greatest rugby world cup ever, the Japan team were a joy to watch, they play a very exciting brand of rugby, which was great to watch, it will be very interesting how Japan's rugby will progress from now on, I see Japan becoming a major force in Rugby, due to the fact that Japan is the world's 3rd largest economy, huge population of overy 126 million people and also a very advanced infrastructure, especially sports infrastructure, these factors will make Japan a global power in rugby & other sports. GO JAPAN! GO NIPPON! 🇯🇵🏉💪
The home team crowd reaction as underdogs reacting to an upset play is magnificent... absolutely brilliant... if Japan joins either of the 5 of tri nations, you can expect more of these crowds more often.
I have not seen such a great try in years; the one that came from the " touche" in the middle of the field is absolutely perfect. South Africa is really strong in this WRC. Congratulations for Japan anyway, it was an outstanding Cup!!
@@Trajan2401 The English will in all likelihood be ending the ABs RWC dreams this weekend, so unfortunately we'll probably never know how they might do in a rematch against the Boks in this tournament.
@@Trajan2401 agree Bro.. But if there's one team that can challenge nz in the final will be the boks... Btw Bro r u frm new Zealand?? . Its my previlege to have a chat with you.. I'm frm India. In India, v don't even have a rugby team but I'm a springboks supporter...
Extremely bias! Ref would love nothing more than South Africa to be kicked out if somehow England had to beat N.Z (which they wont) Wales or Japan is alot easier than South Africa in the final! I'm English and it's plain as day to see how disgraceful this ref is!
Totally. It’s not like me as a Japanese fans were happy about it. (It still adds unnecessary pins and needles that we couldn’t take advantage of them though.)
yes, that was diabolical - like sort of waved him on - and the only way to kill momentum towards the tryline is to tackle low - surely he's learn't that by now.....
Tamura also got annihilated by Faf de Klerk on his try, the guy does not know how to tackle. Its been exposed and in the future if he continues playing for Japan teams will exploit his channel like when Australia tried to play Quade Cooper or Irelands Jonny Sexton. If your 10 cant tackle he will cost more points than he makes no matter how classy.
Look don't understand me wrong, sometimes it feels to me that the whole world is just against South Africa, we are always the underdogs, no matter what, decisions always go against us, I mean if Mapimpi had to tackle a All Black like that in the air, arm around the neck, it would have been a red card, even maybe a ban for life... SA, we never get the credit we deserve as a Rygby Giant...But take nothing away from the other teams, all good.
