Fury is a 2014 American war film written and directed by David Ayer. It stars Brad Pitt, Shia LaBeouf, Logan Lerman, Michael Peña, and Jon Bernthal; all members of an American tank crew fighting in Nazi Germany during the final weeks of the European theater of World War II. Ayer was influenced by the service of military veterans in his family and by reading books such as Belton Y. Cooper's Death Traps, a 1998 memoir that underscores the high casualty rates suffered by American tank crews in combat against their better-equipped German counterparts.
Production began in England in early September 2013, with initial filming taking place in Hertfordshire. This was followed by principal photography on September 30, 2013, in Oxfordshire. Filming continued for a month and a half at different locations, including the city of Oxford, and concluded on November 13, 2013. Fury was released on October 17, 2014, receiving positive reviews and grossing US$211 million worldwide.

Especially Grady. He just kind of comes off as a prick for a good half of the film but the scene where hes telling don about how worried he is about making it back recontexualizes it. He's taking his anxiety out on Norman cause he doesn't know how else to deal with the stress. Makes him way more sympathetic

Or is the film even better when you need to figure out their motives on your own? A striking example of how sometimes less can be more? The additional scenes are all interesting, but quite a few are noticeably drawn out or are less perfectly acted than the rest of the film, which thrives on almost always keeping the pace up. A quiet scene, like the one at the dinner table, seems so intense precisely because the film otherwise never takes breaks. Given the film's theme, the wording shouldn't sound macabre, but one of the first and most important guiding principles when writing is: Kill your darlings! Which means nothing other than that you should examine the scenes that are particularly close to your heart most urgently to see whether they only stand for themselves or also advance the story. The film is almost perfect as it is. Precisely because the cut was so courageous to focus on the essentials.

Etc etc" Just saying "hey theres an escape hatch below you, right there." Camera shows kids face, then escape hatch.. then end of scene. The final edit of the original movie is always well thought out to somebody's idea of time constraints, but more importantly, leaving you with some interpretation of how you imagined the backstroke of some characters. It can make or break a movie from being 'pretty good' to some golden masterpiece. The original movie was a compromise of sorts, but truly worked, as it made you invest in thier characters.

Pitt is 51 in his movie but almost doesn't look it. His character must be in his 20s, maybe 30s, considering his brother was 16 just before the war. Ayer originally wrote Wardaddy as mid 20s but looking much older due to stress of the war. Ain't no way Ayer was going to pass up on Pitt, so they probably said "fuck it" and cut out the backstory to keep Wardaddy's age a mystery. Wardaddy's backstory perfectly explains his grim nihilistic and realistic outlook on the war, I do wish someone cuts up an extended cut with all the extra scenes back in.

A striking example of how sometimes less can be more. The additional scenes are all interesting, but quite a few are noticeably drawn out or are less perfectly acted than the rest of the film, which thrives on almost always keeping the pace up. A quiet scene, like the one at the dinner table, seems so intense precisely because the film otherwise never takes breaks. The omission of background information also increases the intensity because you have to sense and feel the reasons for the protagonists' roughness yourself. Anyway, thank you for uploading! Being able to see the scenes afterwards is a gift.

Lol Brad Pitt's best.... Then you haven't seen Se7en.. This movie was OK at best. I mean the last 30 min..a whole battalion of battle hardened SS with Panzerschrecks not being able to destroy a damaged tank at CQB range... was a complete joke! And then the Tiger not being able to kill the tank at point blank range...while it's 88 was lethal up to 3.5 kilometer.😂😂😂😂

War is 10 times worst than this, thats why tough men come back home broken to pieces. Iraq and Afghanistan is just a mini-war, not full on like Vietnam, Korea, or WW2. My family ran from war, and it took us weeks to go on foot thru 60 miles of thick jungle with old men, women, and children in tow. All this while being pursued. Aint no joke. Everybodys got mental scars and it creeps up sometimes and make you a little crazy.

I really appreciate the opportunity to watch these scenes. However, I also see how these scenes would probably make the film too long. The film does not seem lacking without these scenes, these just fill in more detail. Overall, a great film with outstanding acting.

@@FlightLizardThe Diffrence is that Audie Murphy did his MoH gig on a US Tank destory, went on top of it while it was burning, burnt him slightly & keept firing an M2 HVMG killing or wounding atleast 30 or 50 Germans, while the Remains of his Unit could pull back in an orderly fashion & in the Movie where he stars himself...well they are Shermans..But for the Last stand in the Fury? complete fabricated ****. There was very Few Tigers & most fought on the Eastern Front..What Fury Tank Would have meet Historically? would have been a Panther or Pzkv IV (F/J) most likely as they were in more numbers..its funny that they used the Only Working Tiger I in the West, whom was founded Intact & Captured by the Allies in North Africa during the real War so.

Look up Michael Wittmann, he took on lead elements of the 7th Armoured Divison, after the battle, just a short 15 minutes, he took out 13 or 14 tanks, two anti-tank guns, and 13 to 15 transport vehicles.

i was an armor officer and left the military in 2007. You are absolutely right. What do I know? A tank in the open that can't move is vastly more capable than a battalion of light infantry replete with anti tank weapons. What was I thinking? I guess instead of gaining formal tank warfare education and practical experience on a live 2 way firing range I should have ordered a pizza and played X box so I could be smart like you. @@NecramoniumVideo

Out of all these scenes the two they really should have kept in was at the dinner table when Gordo started talking about the horses at Faliase Gap and he and Bible started crying along with Gordon. That added a dimension to them that made them more like real people with feelings instead of a bunch of killing machines who had no emotions about what they went through. When he said that all day and night you could hear the shots of men putting the horse out of their misery and it sounded like babies crying, it added so much that the other scenes did not, and that was in such sharp contrast to the officer (who in the movie said, I know who you are and what you are capable of) getting morally wounded in the shelling and War Daddy just walking away like it was nothing, back to the every second reality of one man standing next to another and in an instant, there is only one left.

That scene always bothered me. SGT War Daddy would have never let those 3 drunken assholes get comfortable and be so disruptive in the apartment, let alone dredge-up that horrific story of shooting those wounded horses. I find it extremely hard to believe that an armoured unit would've been ordered not to advance for 2 whole days/nights & instead just hang around to shoot horses!!?? Also, where did the crew of Fury get enough .45acp ammo to shoot horses for 2 entire days/nights??

That was the biggest military slaughter in the Western front. It would be odd that a man would come away from that unmoved unless he was a sociopath or psychopath. Fury would probably have taken up positions on the American side of the solid wall of men and machines and been there for perhaps 3 or 4 days, first firing into retreating Germans then making sure that no small German groups passed through the line after the fighting stopped.
