This is Homer's letter to Lisa : I’m taking the coward’s way out. But before I do, I just want you to know being smart made me appreciate just how amazing you really are.
That brings up a question about genetics -and/or the passing down of certain traits- that I have. If Homer has a trait to be smart but loses it before he has Lisa, can that trait still be passed on from parent to child?
the fact that Moe: 1 - had a name for the procedure 2 - wasn't shocked by it 3 - called it "old" 4 - knew the procedure and the best method to execute it 5 - knows what "perfect" is like has me wondering how many people in Springfield are running around with a Crayon in their brain due to Moe this is high gold quality writing
@@steffenreimann2854 Nothing. I bought an extended warranty for my office chair from staples. 2 years later, the chair had rips and was worn out. Submitted a claim with the extended warranty and they gave me 90% of what I paid originally to buy another chair. I say pretty good.
@@lolothesilly i imagine it would go like this Moe : " ah, very well. " * Proceeds to cut a hole in the table where the butt is lying * Moe : " you sure? " homer : " ...no... " Moe : " ah, also very well. " * Gets tape and duck tapes the hole back into the table * homer : " i would rather have a spinal readjustment. "
true but i mean in so many rom comidies or comidies about a guy getting trying to get a girl out of his leauge you always know the girl is going to end up with the guy with a good heart over the rich snob. its like that for every adam sandler movie for example.
MD doctors aren't genius', really naïve to think that med school students are 130+ IQ, genius' don't need school. Average or above average people learn and practice theories. Genius' make the theories that graduate schools teach. Einstein didn't have any degrees, hes got honorary degrees. Discovering fundamental laws illustrates you have a deep understanding of the subject, you dont need to sit around learning about it.
MD schooling is mainly memorization. MDs appropriated the term doctor in an attempt to legitimize themselves. In Germany, medical professionals aren’t allowed to call themselves doctors because their schooling is easier than that of a PhD, and it doesn’t involve novel discovery. An MD’s job is to apply things other people, namely researchers, have discovered. I’m not saying this is easy or anything. They need to be precise enough to make very few errors. However, doing research in the medical field is certainly a more difficult job. Unfortunately, a significant amount of them are convinced they are the “real doctors.”
I think the snobs still say this episode came out after the show "went bad." They consider the Principal And The Pauper episode to be a war crime, and I think this came out after. But screw 'em.
@@JWD1992 oh I didn't know, but the show didn't go "bad" from one episode to the next. It was a gradual thing and there are both good and bad episodes on either side of the point it went "bad".
Could be a group effect homers just been made this intelligent so everything seems different whereas Hibbert has gotten used to it and goes along with other people laughing
Expecting consistent character development in the Simpsons... That's a paddlin' But in all seriousness the original Simpsons writers openly admitted they change the background stories of their characters, especially the side characters, to fit the story of the current episode.
Most would agree that the golden age of The Simpsons was season 3-9 and that awful episode Sadlesore Galactica was in season 11 - which make this episode all the more special as it's part of season 12 yet probably one of the best ones they ever made. This 3 minute segment is peak Simpsons it's funny, clever and packed with satire.
Colin Antink it's dumb because cars and products are built so that they'll break AFTER an extended warranty. The dealerships' or stores' salesmen lie to customers by saying the car or product could break a few years after the factory's warranty is up, so they should get extended warranty just to be safe... And then the car or product will eventually break down after the extended warranty is over and the dealership or store will have won everything and the customer will have lost everything.
Angel O that's not it... Extended warranty is what the name implies: warranty over a longer period of time that apparently covers more things than the manufacturer. But like I said, most items and cars are built to break AFTER these types of warranties are over. So then everyone other than the customer benefits on the sale.
This whole video is the perfect metaphor for what the show became after season 9. Mentioning and including endless celebrities doesn't make the show funny or even entertaining, so make it even stupider to hopefully laugh at it again. It's like an apology letter from Al Jean saying "this is where we're going from now on".
This episode is definitely a low point, not because of jokes or plot that is just a lazy refference to Flowers For Algernon, but because they stated: "Homer is stupid because he has crayon in his brain". They never outright called him stupid before, now they did, and it all was just for a cheap laughs. Same as with Skinner/Tanzanian epizode. Though I still crack at "Up yours, children!".
RanDainone Glad somebody pointed it out, caricatures of celebrities should not be in cartoons, because they contrast way too much with the whole cartoon formula, and they don't belong for a reason.
the simpsons isn't worth watching anymore. The writers have clearly ran out of ideas, and the new episodes aren't even funny. They are probably aware that they are making shitty episodes, but continue doing so only to make money. They are milking this cow for all she is worth.
They should have kept the crayon plot a kind of Deus ex machina device from time to time. Like say Homer needs to save Springfield, he gets the crayon removed to make himself smart again.
No, that was a extremely bad episode. What's the moral lesson here? Being stupid is good? Being stupid makes you happy? Hold back your true strength just to blend in with idiots, rather than hang out with other intelligent people? What a terrible advice. Would you give that advise to your children? I know a lot of smart persons who are happy and stupid persons who are very unhappy. So it isn't even true. And also it absolutely ruins Homers character. It was always funny to see Homer trying to be smart and fail miserably. Homer being stupid on purpose isn't funny at all. That episode is a good example why modern Simpsons suck. It all went downhill after season 10.
