EXTREME BASEMENT DECLUTTER - part one // Storage Hacks // Decluttering Motivation
Small spaces in your home that need decluttering is one thing but my basement takes it to another level. Everything that doesn't have a home ends up eventually at the top of the basement stairs. From there is gets to the bottom step and lastly ends up in the vast pit that is our basement.
This was so much work and as it stands right now I am only about half done! The only thing keeping me going at this point is the feeling of completion that awaits me. I love the feeling when you have cleared out a space and given it a facelift. I can't wait for this basement to be functional and to know where everything is. I am purging so many items. Now I will be warmed up to do the same to my sisters house!

I've been cleaning garages, basements, sheds for over 40 years. When we retired and bought a house with no basement and a small garage I decided I did not want to store anything. I sold all my plastic bins on Facebook, I gave away all my holiday decor except for 4 sweater boxes that fit on the closet shelf. Everything I own is being used or fits in a cupboard or closet. It feels so freaking good to know I never have to clean another basement or garage!!! Watching how hard you worked it all came back to me. But good job girl!!

Damn im so impressed! Well done seriously! I feel you on that but i hate having storage in the house so having everything labelled and organised etc in a specific storage room makes me super happy i prefer having empty shelves inside and whatnot than fitting everything in cupboards here in there thats just how my brain works and what i need to not feel like stressed or anxious etc.

I agree. If I can have most of my stuff stored where I don't have to see it everyday I feel much better.

Thank you! I hate wasting all the odd scraps when I always find I end up needing odd small sizes anyways. Great for stocking stuffers!

I am glad I am not the only one who has ever struggled with the play pen! Hehehe Hint... you have to leave the middle tented up and pull the sides up then push the bottom flat.

I put all of our Christmas, luggage, entertaining, etc. on black wire shelves with casters. I label the tubs and the shelves so everyone knows where things go and we don’t waste time trying to get everything to fit.

I keep my baubles and ornaments in old shoeboxes. Keeps em safe and all together or sometimes they come in good boxes so ill store them in that.

Your stocking hacks are brilliant!!!the scrap paper ingenious!! I have a room dedicated to seasonal decor/ backstock food store and misc like suitcases etc. you have definitely inspired me to tackle my room labeled ‘ enter at own risk’ so, thank you! Looking forward to seeing you finish this decluttering series and hopefully catch up on your past ones. And yes! I am a new subscriber! Great video young lady. The label backing is split along the back just bend your label gently inwards and you will see the split and then peel off where the split is. 🌹

So what I do is I actually take the paper out of the roll and fold it and put it all in a long box. It stays dust free and also the scraps I use to generally cover the most expensive ot special gift. I use double stick tape to tape them together. I never buy name tags. I use the tiny bits of gift paper to fold over and use as name tags. Also I buy masking tape in bulk. Its my favorite label. My writing is neat and tiny from years of having to document well on paper as a ICU nurse on a flowsheet. The masking tape never leaves residue and easy and fairly cheap to replace. Painters tape and Medical medipore tape are also good alternatives. I buy both in bulk off brand so its cheap.
