Yes I am a dirt bike rider and grew up working on them. One job I will never ever do again is respoking a rim. Fk that I just buy new rims when I need them

Used to work in a small town hardware store shop that did a little bit of everything, this was one of, if not my least favorite things we'd fix lmao. Soooo time consuming

We used to just use the brake pads to gauge them. I think it took me around 3 hours to lace and tru a wheel

​@Ferrari255GTO cutting rear spokes, a wheel is complete.....made up of a tyre (the rubber bit) a rim (the metal bit the tyre sits on) spokes and a hub (the centre piece in question). Can confirm he never cut a tyre. Yes he did mount a rim that was on a rear hub to a front hub, probably bought a new rear complete then used the old one as its a sqaured edge rim....most g sport or skylark front rim's have a rounded edge....he wanted matching wheels not one rounded one squared in a set

@@T77BMX if you start by threading every nipple just to the point where every t hread is covered, known as "zeroing spoke nipples", every spoke will be evenly threaded and you can then just add 2 turns per spoke at a time going around the wheel until its tight. if it was a good rim to begin with and proper length spokes you will get a true wheel

@@elparpo9 You've gotta loosen the spokes where the wheel is too flat and tighten the rest, or tighten the spokes where the wheel juts out and loosen the rest. Radial truing is definitely harder than lateral. I would recommend going back and forth between radial and lateral truing for the best results.

@@Ferrari255GTO point is there is no rear rim, however there are rear hubs and rear wheels. proper terminology is important when dealing with wheels. tire rim spokes hub all together make a wheel.

@@T77BMX I had a set of 1987 gt gold rims (idk specifically) but as a 13 yr old I could lift the while GT with a pinky easy, most of it got stolen. Chopped right out of highschool but that ol GT took everything I gave it. Went thru dirt vert canal and street ramps. Ol girl took anything I could give it(unlike my hs gf 😆). Now I think about jumping on a bike I gotta let the ER know before I set out 🤣

Because we created a NEW front wheel for our customer. The old Rear hub needs internal servicing & The old spokes were rusty and seized - So this way we have created an awesome NEW front wheel without having to throw anything into the bin! 🔥🔥🔥

YES! Exacltly. Because the rear wheel was Broken so we used our brain to create new Wheel out of the Rim that was still working!
