Restoration of a VERY rare VARTA iron from 1900s. It was buried in the ground for a long time.I wanted to iron my shirts with a historical iron.So I decided to start this restoration project. Open subtitles for information.
Looked like something out of an archeological dig. Wow amazing how anything like that can actually be restored. Thankyou for bringing back a history we probably wouldnt have ever seen again.
It is called mica, it looks a bit like glass it was used in the doors of wood stoves at the turn of the century, it resists high temp that would break glass.
It was probably found buried in the ground somewhere or in a dump. Back in the late 19th or very early 20th century, people used to bury their old broken junk, ie, pots, pans, rugs, utensils, in the ground. I have found such things where I used to live as it used to be farmland before it was developed into city neighborhoods.
Thank you very much. They are both more beautiful, better quality and more useful in terms of durability and functionality compared to really newly produced products.💜💜
It's my favorite part too. I'm really looking forward to finishing the restoration as soon as possible and making the comparison. I'm so glad you like it.💚💚💚
Fantastic restoration to as good as condition as possible, without it looking 'overdone'. ❤️ My gran had one of these - sadly, I threw it out about 15 years ago without giving it a second thought! 😢
I think if they raise the titanic, you could restore it. LOL 😅😅 You brought this iron back from the dead. You are not just a restorer, you Sir, are a genius. Subscribed.
Ive got those same "dental tools". It was a kit with all sorts of picks and tweezers. Mom got it for me when i was in college of Anthropology and went on an archaeological dig. So handy! Even now, around the house, I use the all the time. Excellent restoration!!!!
It is really useful. I have the set too. I bought it second hand from the antique market. I maintained and cleaned it. It has been 10 years. I could not have thought that they were this functional before I bought them.❤
That old iron looked like it was in the ground because it was encrusted with a lot of dirt or dried-on mud. It looked too far gone to be restored but you got it working again. It looks much better too. Excellent work.
Thanks for your comment.I thought the same when i first see this iron.I wish i could restore its original chrome coating. But it is impossible in a small shop. Thanks for watching.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I honestly would have chucked it. Do you ever go back to where you find these items to show how great they turned??? All I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!
@@AntiqueVintageRestoratioNs good point but to be honest even that guy would had to have said it was trash. You did the impossible and I love it. Pieces like that was made to last a lifetime. Now the new stuff is just junk. No one takes pride in what they make unless it is the small business owners that make it by hand. Those are the ones I seek out, sometimes quality is worth the extra price because it will be around a long time instead of a few months.
I am honored that you follow me and like my videos.I am so glad you are here.Thank you for your valuable comment. Many more beautiful videos to come.Enjoy.😀😀💚💚💚
My mother had an iron like that. It would get extremely hot. She also had an old wringer washer with the laundry tubs for rinsing. Laundry day was not fun.
I have watched quite a few other restoration projects on RU-vid and I can honestly say yours is the best I have seen. This iron was in horrendous shape and quite a undertaking and your restore was awesome to watch and turned out beautiful. Great job
Thank you for support.(I did not want sub or comment to your channel. It can hurt small channels at the beginning. But i watched your video. You've done a great job.Generally people prefer not use music on restoration videos.)
@@AntiqueVintageRestoratioNs Well, you just didn't know how great you are at what you do! It is like when I draw something and once I see the result is very nice, I go like: did I really do that? And You are very welcome, by the way!
I thought by myself why bother to waist time on that thing, it's never going to work again. You proof me wrong , you have a wonderful talent and you must have good knowledge how an iron is put together. Well done!
Many people throw these products away because they think this way. It is proud to see them working after all this effort. It would be a waste of time to struggle for a product whose infrastructure is not of high quality anyway, but if you are sure of its quality, you should never give up. Thank you for watching the video and for this valuable comment. thanks a lot.❤️❤️❤️❤️
É muito relaxante vc ver a peça no antes..... E depois ver a restauração ..... Parabens estou adorando seus vídeos... Abraços de uma brasileira sua fã.🎉🎉🎉🎉🇧🇷
