There's another point about hub motors i really don't hear much about: the silence! I get the points for belt drives but that noise... sorry but i cant stand that permanent wiz that really affects the ride... I like to get the wind without this sound, people should also consider this as a ride comfort. Just a personnal opinion, and honnestly, Backfire wheels are good. Maybe not the best, but good so that's fine if i can't change them. Nice vid as usual, my vote's for Backfire

Thanks so much for your time and informational value! I am currently looking to get my first eboard. I was 100% sold on the exway flex, until I found their customer service is near non existent (so I’ve heard) as they’ve severed ties with their us distributors. I’ve watched videos of people reporting to have big problems with over heating, battery sag and brakes coming on. Obviously I have no experience with any of that, just what I’ve watched so I’m not knocking the exway, but after sale service is EVERYTHING to me personally. I’m 5’ 11” 205 so your weight and battery relation is close to mine. It appears I have possibly saved myself a lot of frustration in buying the flex by coming across your vid, thanks so much! Great video. Fair comparisons and keeping it to what you've ridden is solid. After watching tons of videos and reading a lot I went with the BKB Duo and you're right, its a beast as a first board. Ive ridden other stuff a lot though so figured it would be fine. The power is amazing. The torque is so fun, feels like a miniature sport bike or race car. I really considered the backfire and am sure Id like that board as well. What won me over was I liked the ability to be somewhat future proof with the components of the BKB and a way easier ability to swap decks or customize as I go.

Great videos, I watched them a few times before purchasing my Backfire G3 and my Backfire Zealot w/ 105mm cloud wheels. Both great budget boards and great recommendations on your end. Right now I'm looking to buy something that accelerates faster than my Zealot with similar riding feel (love the composite deck) or maybe go a different route with a carving board with DKP's for shits and gigs (Onsra, DIY, etc). Just looking something either a step above my Zealot or maybe a different kind of fun. If you had a sec I just wanted to ask how big of a difference in acceleration is there between the BKB DUO Kit and the Backfire Zealot in turbo mode? Also how does the BKB DUO's stiffer Deck feel compared with the Zealot composite deck? is it similar, worse, or different? And lastly I know you've mentioned it's stability at higher speeds, but how does the BKB Duo feel stability wise at high speeds compared to the Backfire Zealot? Right now I love my Zealot for the composite deck, torque, high speed stability, and the level of confidence I get from high speed carving with it. If the acceleration / deck feel between the BKB DUO and the Backfire Zealot is minor I probably would just end up getting a carving board. But if the BKB DUO is a Zealot on steroids then it sounds like my next board. Any insight is helpful and again great content and thanks for the detailed reviews.

I just ordered a Backfire Zealot S as my first board. I was going to get the G3 plus with the carbon fiber board, but they were out of stock in the USA and I would have had to wait a full month so I went with the Zealot S

I own a backfire zealot and I also own an evolve GTR bamboo and the zealot is easily faster than my GTR. I weigh about 140 lb and the range that I get on my zealot is around 20 ish miles and the range on my GTR is around 27ish miles. Considering the price that I paid for the zealot opposed to what I paid for the GTR I would say that the zealot is a solid higher end budget board. I think it's on sale right now for like $650 at that price it is totally worth it.

Hey man great content. I'm really after performance. Can you do some actual time trials and hill climbs with the same weight rider and outside air temperature, winds,etc... I'm looking hard for actual data to help me along with the decision making. Specifically looking for 0-100 and 0-200metre time trials drag race type of straight line torque stuff and some hills with a 30% grade to see how badly these decks exhibit battery sag and to what degree. I'm not worried about range just raw power, torque and acceleration. Thanks for considering these types of tests in your reviews. Based on boards you've got. I would love to see a scientific, metrics based showdown between: 1. Zealot S 2. BKB Duo with the Xenith ESC 3. Eovan GTS carbon pro 4. Lycaon TRX 2.0 5. Verreal RS 6. Black Carve 2 Keep up the great work. Challenge issued.

Would you put the beast board in this as well? Also is the WowGo AT2 worth the extra money over the Beast Board? The Beast Board just seems too good to be true haha

Good video! Have you ever tried the Bustin Hybrids? Both boards are at or less than 1k. I would love to see you review either board if you haven’t had the chance. I own a Bustin V2 Hybrid Sportster X+. I ended up paying $1050 for that board and it’s Bustin’s newest model. You can get another variant of the Sportster that keeps you right at 1k, the Bustin Hybrid YoFace is $700. I can speak to the CS, QA and all the performance specs for the board.

I currently own the Exway flex. I am 6.5 and the board being shorter I find to be a positive, definitely feel locked in and it easier to lug around.

Quick question. Why do you need extra pulleys? Are they the same teeth count as the pulleys that come on the board? They just give you an extra set of the same pulleys? Thanks oh and are the 97mm stock wheels good wheels or are you going to change them out for something softer?

Hey, what nose guard do you use for your g3 and would you recommend them?

I was stuck between the zealot and the G3 Plus Carbon board as my first E-board , and I ended up going with the G3 Plus simply for the range and the hub motors requiring less maintenance. I weigh 210 & ride very fast too. I think I average about 18 miles instead of the advertised 25 miles. I never leave sport mode because eco mode is pretty much a joke, and turbo mode seems best for me most of the time but it really burns the battery out. Do you think the G3 Plus is better than the zealot or no?

I have the zealot board and the only thing I dnt like about it is the range it dies way to fast for me and the hard wheels suck the cloud wheels feels way more better on the road for me I really dnt use the zealot board anymore I use the at board way more and has double the range

When it comes to the backfire zealot and g3 what are the main differences and which do you recommend.

Would you recommend a backfire g3 or an exway flex for a beginner? Need a good beginner board! Looking for a cheaper option that provides value, also one with not as much maintenance needed.

Rarely do I find myself disagreeing with MrPhillipsTheChangeAgent, but BKB Duo for the win all day long. The board is super comfortable, face melting fast, highly customizable, and has American based support. I own the Flex and the Duo. I've ridden the Flex twice since purchasing the Duo (August), and one of those times was because I felt sorry for it. I do love my Flex, but its not the Flex, it's me. I've fallen in love with another board, and she's perfect. Her name is BKB Duo.

I have ordered 4 boards. Wowgo Knight, Exway Flex, Wave and Backfirfe Zealot. I was happy untill I started the boards. Just out of the box, Flex motor didn't want to spin, so I had to remove the wheels, covers, loose all bolts, and assemble breand new board. Next one, Wave, factory error on axle. Axle pin is not centered, so rear left wheel is woobling while riding. Backfire Zealot out of the box came uncentered front and rear trucks, so board ofloaded goes left always. Also had to loosen belts. Wowgo Knight was a gift, and I didn't open it, but watched opening and seems ok. So out of 4 boards 3 are defected Wonder why no one is checking the boards before putting it in the box? I mean wheels on my Flex literally stuck and couldn't spin out of the box.

Id say, 1- BKB- VESC, good battery, excellent motors, mounts, trucks. Overall this board is way better than the 3. Not even close. 2- Flex- smart SONNY battery, FORGED and cnc trucks, solid enclosures, decent esc, decent morors, good deck and the APP. 3- Zealot- 21700 cells(unbranded), regular caliber 2 trucks, decent esc, decent motors. 4- G3- a poor mans zealot.

They only have the backfire zealot S available on thier website. Is that as good as the normal zealot?

Minus some occasional remote disconnects, forcing you to turn both the board and remote on manually (That's just the inner lazy in me screeching, not a dealbreaker at all), the Exway Flex Riot is a fantastic choice in my opinion; a major upgrade from my first electric board and a great option for anyone looking into a more dedicated investment into electric skateboarding outside the entry-level budget boards

I love my Bustin Sportster X+ I have 100mm thanes with the dualomo hub motor they use is awesome to push if you run out of battery and it coasts almost as good as a regular longboard. I can get up to 30mph now that I’ve ridden it for awhile and if I stay under 20mph, I can go around 18 to 20 miles if I don’t push any at all and I weigh 208lbs. And I am still in awe on how my board can climb some very steep hills close by me. It’s a sweet looking board and is only $999.00...... I’m no video expert but feel free to check out some of the vids of the board I have on my channel. No subscription needed since I just upload for fun.

This review, like almost all other reviews, is pretty useless for the average commuter. It doesn't talk about long term reliability, which is the most important attribute of any board. Things break down and when they do, you life is literally at risk. I've been thrown off an Exway Flex multiple times due to modules malfunctioning - battery, motor unit, etc.. Who gives a crap about the minute differences in acceleration or even a couple more or less miles of range. How does the board do after 500 miles, 2000 miles, etc... ?
