The last fight, he released a missle very close and you then hit the missle with the guns and that exploded close to his plane. I think the gun was pointed below the opponent but did hit the missle.

@@satish8299 Wow I think you might be right. I rewound this several times and that is exactly what happened...I think🤣😅. Gripen missile came off the rail and immediately got hit by GS gun spray, blew up, damaged Gripen. Unreal. 😂💥💥

GS I think Satish8299 got it right, you fired your guns just as the Gripen driver fired a Fox2. Your gunshot hit his missile right as it came off the rail, blew it up, and damaged the Gripen BEFORE the merge! I rewound this a buncha times & you can see that missile blow up just to the left of the Gripen🤣😅💯💥💥

Back in 1998 in flanker 1.5. In a duel, I just got hit with a missile and my flanker went in to a flat spin and my HUD disappeared but I kept my padlock on the other guy who was turning back to blow me out of the sky. I did one full flat spin and by the second spin I had already switched to longitudinal missile aiming and as my nose passed in front of the other guy I locked my missile and launched and I hit him. And he also went in to a flat spin. And he crashed first so I wan that match. And I did that with no HUD. Lol

@@californiahighwaypatrol577 D version is just a twin-seat C-version, which was beaten by Polish F-16 Block 52s. No variant of the Gripen has any chance against the F-22 except at WVR due to HMDs. Even then, the Gripen would still be at a distinct disadvantage.

Man, you put out such consistently high quality content. Love seeing your videos everyday. I am curious about how all these fighters perform and compare to eachother. Would you be down to make a general fighter guide for the channel? Go over strengths/weaknesses for all the main fighters you fly. I'm guessing that the Gripen is comparable to other single engine light fighters like the Viper but I would love more detail from you.

On an F-14 when battling with a jet with HMD helmet, your only chance to survive, use the AIM-54 as long as you got lock at hundred miles out. This is how Iranian pilots became deadly up in the skies of the Persian Gulf, even the Navy is so uneasy when they detected one up there, and they shoot anything that move in the sky, including that airliner back in the 80s.

F-15E is a planned jet in development No F-4, for whatever reason despite it being old and probably mostly declassified

What the USAF, USN, and USMC do not have, which they should have, is the equivalent of the Russian R-27TED, which is a BVR heat seeker. You fire a R-77 AND a TED at an opponent, you got a real good chance at getting a kill.

A little bit like watching an elephant on roller skates there but well played lads. That's a 25 yr difference in flight dynamics with those two airframes. and yes GS, pressing the trigger as an enemy aircraft flashes across your gunsight will often result in a hit :)

Sadly we will never know what was to be. There was only one E model Tomcat produced for testing, and it wasn't even finished. There is not enough valid data in circulation about the modernized versions performance. We know there was a fly by wire addition, as well as switching over to digital flight control systems 100%, also known that there was more tuning work put into the engines (end result unknown). We would probably still be stuck with the AIM54C seeker head too, however we may have been able to use 4 AIM120 A,B,C versions as well.

I think it is pretty clear, the F14 just doesn't have the same performance for dogfighting as more modern aircraft. It is a threat, but it is outmatched by current generation fighter craft, as it should be. However, it would be interesting to see you and Longshot test it's BVR abilities against modern aircraft. Like the Typhoon, the Raphael, Su-33, Gripen, etc. I bet it would have some better staying power there, since pulling G's is less important. Try it in a DCA fight against hostiles, like it's intended role as a fleet defender. See how effective it would be there.
