The F-15C consumes a LOT of wire. Not in great lengths, but a hell of a lot of short lengths. The APG-70 radar control panel alone uses up 52 wires.
There's gotta be a better way than measuring and stripping all those wires by hand...and there is!
The machine I bought: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07... (and it's not what I actually got)
The stepper driver it uses: www.amazon.com/dp/B09BMNLYVL
My notes on how my particular model of the machine works:

(Because of the spaces in the filename, you'll need to copy/paste the whole URL above into your browser.)
Vevor: If you're watching this, reach out! Your docs are barely comprehensible and I'd like to help!

Press and hold button 3 and yellow button simultaneously, turn on the power switch, and wait until English appears on the screen.

Hello Gene, If you press the system button again (2 times slowly) it will allow you to enter the password. I ordered a similar machine but received the same unit as you. I have noticed the feed tube (they called it a catheter) is not moving up when it is doing the last strip/cut function. If you try to have a stripped section longer than about 12mm it backs the wire into the feed tube and crushes it and the knives rip up the wire. After watching your video I bet that is what the fourth stepper driver is for???

I'll give that a shot when I can get back to the machine. Thanks for the tip!

It is! I had an idea around 3am this morning on how might be able to get it to strip 24 & 26ga wires... 🤣 Now if I could just find a wire printer (prints numbers on wires) for less than what a new car costs...

Hello, nice review? Can you tell me if is possible cut and strip 70mm wires on both sides? Wires are soft (silicone).

Hello Gene - Very informative - thank you. I'd like to download your notes, but the link appears to be broken. Can you please repost? Thanks - Howard

Hello Gene, do you know what tolerances can be reached on cutting wires? E.g. if you cut 200 wires with around 3 m lenght how many mm does the lengths of the wires differ? Thank you, Gerhard
@f15sim
@f15sim 16 дней назад
Gerhard, I haven't cut really long lengths on the machine as of yet, but when I used it to make the control cables for my PrintNC CNC machine, all the wires it cut were identical. This was 32(ish) wires that were something around 200mm in length. (I don't recall exactly.) I will tape a note to the machine about checking repeatability though - that way the next time I pull it out for the F-15, I'll know to make a conscious effort to check the repeatability and report on it.

@@f15sim Hi Gene, thank you, for your fast response and detailed information! Next time, if you have some further information, I would be very interested in.

Great video thank you for the walk through. Is the 508C capable of handling “fine” wire? I see crosswidth of 0.1mm - 2.5mm listed but I have not seen anyone use it on fine jumper wire (like the same you’d use to wire a microcontroller).

Thanks. I /think/ the blades can be adjusted enough to allow stripping 24 and 28ga wire, but I've not yet had a chance to get that done on my unit. It IS on the list though. :)

@@f15sim I managed to make it cut and strip 24 AWG wire with consistent results. The answers are at the end of the manual, in the troubleshooting section, which is hard to understand because of the poor translation, but basically it says to use the default blade values of 90 and 10 (it depends what's written on the machine, but it's "knife value" and "recede cutter" on this video), and then, tightening the roller more. I did all of these 3 at once and then the wire wasn't stripped enough, which was a huge change from being cut all the way through, so I changed the "knife value" to 80, ran a test and it was perfect, I pressed the sample button a few more times and it was perfect each time, so I just pressed start and it did 1300 wires consistently.

Hello, my machine is cutting the wrong lenght and I can’t find any settings to calibrate it. Do you know anything about that? Thanks!

Sorry, I don't. Keep in mind that it only works in metric units (as far as I know).

Mine displays "sensor error" message everytime I turn it on or everytime I try to run a program
@f15sim

You might want to reach out to the manufacturer about that - if it's done that since you got it, it may be defective.

@@f15sim Found the issue, the main PCB inside is barely attached to the machine and fell during transportation, 2 connectors weren't properly inserted, the one controlling the blade and another. The blade mechanism wasn't able to turn, the sensor wouldn't be able to register any rotation and therefore display an error message.
