Today on Marty Motoring, we install the official F Sport lower box on my 2007 Lexus IS350 and see how it sounds! Follow on Instagram: / martymotoring Like on Facebook: / themartymotoring
Dude I've watched every IS video on your channel n holy crap....I've e never wanted an is350 so bad 😫 I already know how to do so much to one because of your videos and I dont even have one yet LOL Keep up the videos! Cant wait to see how the scion turns out Much love from Canada ❤ BTW what song was that in your intro?
Great video, love the gimbal! Would love if you would do a long driving video with exhaust sounds, fly-bys, accelerations, etc. Love that exhaust sound!
I went with the K&N system for mine. The tube on mine is metal. So it gives it a very unique sound and the metal has some sort of ceramic coating or something on it for thermal proofing. I went as far as to wrap the intake with thermal tape anyway tho.
Yup, I used to have a metal tube but it got hot, even with the thermal/ceramic coating.I like the carbon fiber for the looks and it keep it a bit cooler as well. I bet the KN sounds nice! See any power gains? I kept the stock box (essentially a cold air intake as well) for simplicity and it sounds great still. People have shown good dyno results with it as well.
@@MartyMotoring The outside of the tube always gets hot. But I pulled the filter off and shoved my hand up inside the intake right after I had just driven home from work and it was cool to the touch on the inside. That was the first thing I did after I got it on there, just to make sure. As for the difference. I don't think it made a noticable difference up in the high revs. But I did notice an instant change in the throttle response, and low end performance. The car requires less peddle to get the same amount of go, and seemed a lot more interested in going after I changed to the cone filter. And, my best guess for the reason why that is the case, isn't the intake tube, it's the cone filter. The reason cone filters are better is because the air comes into the intake from all sides equally and doesn't need to make any turns or hit anything that would cause vortexes to form inside the intake. The main reason a stock airbox is bad is because the air has to go upward first, and make a 90 degree turn toward the engine. Not necessarily because the tube or filter is restrictive.
Hey Marty after the tune how much power did the car gain? What mods did you have on it at the time? I’m getting some PPE headers for my 2IS 350 and I have a full 2.5” piping midpipe and axle back, along with the carbon intake and I’m gonna do the cutout of the intake. Just curious what power numbers I should expect to gain after this? Thanks
When im in drive....my motor idle.... When i put ignition off and back on... the idling stops and motor is back normal. This i have only when i drive in the city. If im on highway i have no idling problems when i stop. Could this be a lambasensor dirty?
Hey Marty, how do you feel about 3is front bumper conversion for the 2is? At some point i want to get my 350 wrapped, and do the 3is front end conversion. Cheers man!
Yeah, newer the better really! Depends on your budget. just stick with the 2nd gen/6 speed if you want it more aggressive...the 3rd gen times are a little slower due to the 8 speed trans being less aggressive. ISF has the power and good quick 8 speed though!
Hey when you took out the stock lower air box, what kind of screws or bolts are holding it in place? That box is exactly as the 3rd generation and I want to put my air box back but it’s missing the bolts.
Hey Marty, I’m looking into purchasing a is350 in the future and I would like to know how much you have spent in all for how your car is currently. I’m inspired by your mods :) Thanks!
Well for the USA we use gallons and miles per gallon, so I will try to convert it. Normal driving with combined highway and city, I get around 24mpg. That is about 10.2034 kilometers per liter.(Thanks Google, lol)
Hey guys so today while i stopped at a red light my 2010 is250 did that “shiver” thing you know like it wants to stall but doesn’t. Rpms go up and down at the red light mind you it still drives smooth. Only did that at the red light or in park. Any ideas what that is?
Mine does this occasionally too, I put a catch can and drive with a lead foot and use gdi cleaner but at 112k miles it’s probably pretty dirty with carbon build up, at least it runs well.
@@MartyMotoring but that sound you get??? the rumble is just amazing when you add one of them. I have never tried the f sport airbox mod, will that give the same rumble
Should have got a g37s rwd sedan with the 7 speed automatic transmission JK (JUST KIDDING) That Is 350 looks so clean I would drink it's dirty soap water from the car WASH!
