I would highly recommend a skid plate to protect the engine and that piping up front.

Gingium was definitely the kind of kid who started a hot wheel trading ring when he was in grade school.

For the hoodscoop. Is there enough room to make the scoop more "built in" like the newer WRXs and STIs as opposed to on top like the older ones? If you do that it will help with visibility but let you keep the intercooler as a top mount.

This car is supposed to look mean, I think taking off the hood scoop and pop-ups will take away that aggression and the Miata-Subaru look. There's gotta be another way to get that visibility.

The light rack will rotate right into your windshield when you hit a bump if these bolts are loose . Adding one more support strucure will be more safe imo

About the lighting thing. Would it be possible to add two lights that are similar to the ones on the roof and mount them on the front bash bar? Like really low

My concern would be damaging the intercooler when you go offroad, while its unlikely to happen it definately wont if you leave it top mount but its really up to you

Yoooo, you can draw inspiration from the new Porsche 935's headlights for the rally Miata. I think it would look really sleek/modern/minimal. Plus c'mon, you're gonna need the most visibility you can get especially for safety.

Having some low mounted, big, round headlights embedded in the bumper, kind of like a slantnose Porsche would be BADASS and cheaper since you won't need to modify the headlight blinker things.

For the love of god do not do a front mount intercooler, that engine is already practically hanging out of the front of the car.

Take it to the “badlands” in Attica Indiana. Should only be a few hour drive. Great place with dunes and some muddy spots

Gingium from a couple years ago didn't need an "Off road track" to go off roading.

A lower hoodscoop and flush headlights would be perfect. A front mount intercooler could get smashed easily

I don't care what anybody says! Its your build. You do what you want with it. If you want it to look cleaner and more unbroken, go for it. I think a simple Miata look would be so cool. If you wanna keep the scoop and the popped up lights, do that. I'll still love and watch it anyway!

I would recommend keeping the scoop as a front mount will get filled and clogged with mud when going in deeper thick mud. A custom headlight and bliker set up would be a really cool vid!

Love your work! May I suggest 2 braces from the light bar to the roof? If those screws come loose while offroading, the bar might end up in your windshield.

I think it looks better the way it is. I do like the idea of putting the blinkers in the original spot thought! Either way it's your car do what you want and thanks for all the amazing content!

i have a recommendation. Since the pop ups cant wink anymore, change to sleeker lights. And the hood scoop has to be kept. its a subaru, is its signature.

Lighting suggestion: If you can make a smooth hood that can be reversed if it doesn’t come out quite right. It would be a great video eventually if you running low on content and unable to still do track days. I would also suggest just trying a more lower profile scoop like on the RX7 FC turbo II would help. Your not gonna see a HUGE difference in cooling, if anything it’ll just suck more dirt into the engine bay.

Imo i love the light rack , it really fits the car, with the front i understand the dificulty to see the road with soo much going on in the front of the car, the hood scoop it always fit the rally miata so taking it away would be kinda sad, but if you really come foward with changing it i thing it would be cool to see the bottom half of the miata bumper below the front crash bar, maybe with it you can fit some fog lights or simply a way to chanel air trought on the intercooler, whenever you do i'll support you tho love your content! Caleb keep the inner cooler right where it is if you do a front mount intercooler you’ll be prone to getting damaged even though you will have a skid plate with holes notched into it for air it will still be a restriction and be prone to be damaged on your lighting situation that we call if you can make the OEM headlights go up and down that’ll make a slicker appearance and still keep it like the Miata feel 👍😊

Adding resistors to led bulbs being used as turn signals is for slowing the flashing down to prevent hyper flashing. It won’t affect the brightness notably. Also the roof rack bar that crosses over the windshield should really be mounted using two or more bolts on each side to prevent it from swiveling if the bolts were to come slightly loose

keep the hood scoop and top mount intercooler. The hood scoop screams Subaru, and it keeps it looking like the og rally miata. A front mount intercooler wouldnt be a great idea because mud would cake it up and wouldnt provide much cooling. A beefy front skid plate would fill up the space in the front end and would protect the headers and it would also make it look more like a "trophy Truck". Definitely cant wait for the rear bumper to be fabricated. The rear end looks way too high and empty. A winch wouldnt be a bad idea to throw on the front end as well. As long as it doesnt disrupt the oil cooler. Love the build so far, and im so happy you made a dream become a reality!

About the frond end, I personally would keep the hood scoop but make it lower and sleeker for visibility. I think moving the lights into the bumper would be a good idea for visibility aswell.

Try to mock up the front bumper from the Subaru underneath the front bash bar. I think it could be an interesting look, and it would give a front mount intercooler a great home, and the fog-light mounts could house some nice headlights as well.

I totally agree that the hood/front of the car looks crowded but I absolutely love the pop-up style headlights. I think you remove the hood scoop/change the intercooler system and see how you feel about the looks from there.

auxbeam and nilight are both great cheap lightbar alternatives, ive run both on my trucks

There are scoops much more subtle, and the looks of the car wouldn't change that much. An example is the Nissan terrano II scoop. About the headlights, pop up is life xD

A thought worth exploring: if/when the main two mounting bolts on the light pod assembly come loose.... I think it's going to smash your windshield. Given the suspension and likely use of this project you may want to investigate something that if/when it comes loose it won't say suddenly shift downward (at least to the point of contacting the windshield).

I think a redesisgn of the scoop to be less like a box or a retrofit with a subie scoop would be nice and a more sleepy headlights design for visibility with the blinker relocation ;)

Looking good love the light bar, now you will have to reverse in the dark and be able to see, so a 10 inch LED light to tuck under the rear or on the trunk lid. Still seems sketchy with the lack of vision but hey the rest is awsome.
