Eye of the Sea is the second largest lake in the Tatra Mountains in terms of surface area and water volume, located in the Rybi Potok Valley at the foot of Mięguszowiecki Szczyty, at an altitude of 1,395 m above sea level. The name Eye of the Sea is a translation from German. The earlier name used by the highlanders is Biały Staw. It was recorded in 1650. Eye of the Sea was also called Fish Lake or Fish Pond, because it is one of the few naturally stocked lakes in the Tatra Mountains. The first mention of Eye of the Sea dates back to 1575. Morskie Oko was discovered for tourism at the beginning of the 19th century. Eye of the Sea is one of the most famous Tatra lakes.
