Honestly, I've had a lot of good teachers who taught clearly and well, yet still I saw people not learning nor doing well. The most important variable to being a good student is not in the teachers before you but rather is the desire to want to learn. When the student is ready, the correct teacher will appear.

I tried using besan as facewash, but it gave me skin rash. As a result, eventually, I switched to littleextraa riceberry face wash, and believe me, my skin has greatly improved from this and got better than how it was... pimples diminished, blemishes reduced, open pores reduced, and skin has become more glowing and smoother, and I am getting compliments from friends now.
Before I finish the video I just want to say thank you so much for being an advocate for skin care and being the bridge between modern medicine and holistic approach. Especially being a woman of color. You are exactly what I was looking for thank you again
I see that you meant solely to compliment this accomplished woman but I feel compelled to ask why you added that bit about being a woman of colour ! This is how you keep RACISM ALIVE, with your Mindless Division. What’s wrong with you?
@@kimberlyrogers9953 how is this racist?! I swear yall wanna be oppressed so bad. How about representation matters. We are bombarded with representation and professionals that look like you. So there was nothing wrong with what sis said. Girl have a seat, looking for reasons to be upset.
Can you make a part 2 of this and focus on product recommendation. It can get overwhelming whiich products to get and which brands to check out when your in the store...
My advice is 1: find out if your have pipy or dry skin. To do this wash your face woth your normal cleanser and after 2 hours put tossue on your forehead, cheeks, and nose and see if it sticks. If it does, you have oily skin if not, dry skin. If it sticks in certain areas you have combination skin. 2. Search up products. This is just personal preference because it comes down to price and what skin you have. Peoppe can't just say ehat products because everyone's skin is different. But narrowing thebsearch to oily, dry, or combination skin helps a ton.
My best advice is focus on ingredients, less so name and brand. The only difference between the biggest brands and lesser known ones is that the bigger brands have more marketing, look at the ingredients list of the product you're buying and decide from there.
I recently moved to another country and have been struggling with the dry weather. This video is exactly what I needed, easy to understand and straight to the point! Thank you so much🥰
I used hemp seed oil to oil cleanse one night after a full evening of sweating with a thick layer of foundation. My skin was so radiant when I got up the next day, I was completely confused. But given that it’s anti inflammatory and non comedogenic, of course it would help repair my barrier. It’s been a staple since then!!
I love following Dr. Alexis Stephens! She well informs her audience on skin care, and she also sets the perfect example as well thru her beautiful skin! I can say for the first time that I will be knowing how to treat my skin from home based off well informed information passed on a Dermatologist that clearly shows that she truly cares. I will be starting a new skin care regimen in May since I now have right information. I may be posting before and after pictures of myself afterwards in 3 months from my starting point in one of her future videos. Thank you Dr. Stephens.
I used to use rosehip oil mixed in my face cream at night but hated the oily feel and they made my eyes blurry all the time. So I switched to using Korean sleeping masks over my moisturiser at night. Although with oils being in tons of moisturisers, this video is really useful. Squalane, rosehip and jojoba are my faves in moisturisers as I have dry skin. I also like cleansing balms, although cleansing oils are not enough for removing my eye makeup
Use pure oils. Stop buying into companies selling "oil cleansers" when you can just use the one oil. Argan oil and coconut oil always take all my makeup off perfectly
Avalea makes a wonderful facial oil with rose hip seed oil, squalane, sea buckthorn, vitamin c and many other good ingredients. I hope that it’s Dr Alexis approved 😊
Thank you for the video. I used to watch all kinds of skincare videos by a lot of different people. I quit watching most of them because they are targeted for younger people, and don't mention anything for mature skin. I found some that talk about what my concerns are. I'm 45 yrs. old with acne, oily, mature skin. Weird combination I think but oh well. Lol. I just got into skin care a couple of years ago when I noticed some sun damage on my forehead. Late in my life to get into skincare, but better later than never I say.
Thank you! Wow. I came here looking for a good oil to use for a man's beard put learned so much more. Great video and learned so much regarding using oils as part of your regular skin care; even as a man. Thanks to your thorough review, I found what I was looking for and it looks like plant-based oils like grapeseed and hemp, will work well for my needs and on a man's face/beard. Thanks again.
This was helpful. I thought I had dry skin and started using products to improve that but those products have been overdrying my face. I especially notice it when I wake up in the morning. I was thinking about adding a face oil to my night time routine. Thank you for the suggestions along with the info.
@@DrAlexisStephens could you do a video on laser treatment of hyperpigmentation? I can't seem to find a lot of info on yt about it for dark skinned people of color. 💕🤗 Thank you for everything you share on here freely, you have helped a lot of us a ton! 🙏🏾
Hii. I’m also using ACV toner but mixed with water. So far it’s great. Want to try rosehip oil too and just want to keep this 2 step- simple and no hassle. Btw I have combination skin
I have a question regarding the application of oils in the morning disrupting sebum production... What are your thoughts on people with oily skin using oils in the day specifically for decreasing their sebum production?
I was looking @ my dry skin that increased with menopause I have patches of dry skin areas btw To be oily with acne prone skin,I’m planning on a target trip tonight to buy some of the elf products 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾Thank you !
Thank you so much Doctor. This is just what I needed. I have acne prone skin and luckily I just got grape seed oil. I just subscribed and I can’t wait to see more of your videos☺️
I’m currently revamping and simplifying my skincare regimen and this was very helpful for me to pick the correct oil. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise 🤎
This was my first time watching one of your videos and found it to be very informative! I am wondering if there are any drugstore facial oils you would recommend? I have what I believe to be normal skin, and my concerns would be more for hyperpigmentation and acne, but also hydration and anti-aging. I look forward to looking back on other videos you have posted and for future ones as well! Thank you very much.
Some good info here but one thing I would mention is Oils have a molecular size that can penetrate deep into the epidermis, the molecular size of water based products is too large to penetrate so apply the oil first that way the oil will absorb to where it is needed. You can then apply a moisturizer to seal it.
Will you do a video specifically for aging skin routine from start to finish please. Cleansers, essence toners, moisturizers, oils, sunscreens, retinol, etc. And also is it possible for aging skin to have that glow like your skin?
This is a WONDERFULLY informative video, and it reaffirmed what I'd been doing for my skin. It''s so important to remember having a hydrator before the oil! It's the same for humectants like Hyrulonic Acid, which people forget. I do that first, then my moisturizer that def has water as one of the first ingredients, which is so helpful for the HA. Then finally, I apply a few drops of my Rosehip Oil. And I always do this at night, my skincare in the am is very light in comparison as I know that cell turnover at night is the ideal time to use more products. After all of this, my skin is AMAZING in the am. Thank you so much! 🙏
Oily skin gal here, I used not like oils when I started my skin care routine, but know I use them daily little too much different oil in my skincare routine, Tarte maracuja oil and Biossance squalane oil is my fav, uselly I used last in my skin care routine.
Hello Dr. Stephens! Thanks for this great information. I have been trying out press on nails. I've noticed that they have become quite popular on social media. Soooo my question is are press on nails and nail glue harmful to our skin and nails?
Love this video. I happen to be a promoter dealing with a sudden hyperpigmentation from use of a dead sea salt product which shall go nameless. I look up and my face is brown and blotchy on the left side. Well, very informative and concise, thank you. I'm featuring on my network, given the quality of your video, I think you should get a ton of suscribers. I think if the topic of Sea Squirts and plasmalogens comes up (still in research) it would be nice if you can speak on this.
This was sooo helpful. I have very dry skin plus hormone related breakouts. I was using 3-4 drops of Squalene oil 2x a day. 😱 My skin was buttery soft but I’m going to cut it down and try some of the oils you recommended. 😊 Thank for such a well put together video!!
Pleasure meeting you Dr. Stephens. Enjoyed your video. This definitely helped me understand how to use plant and essential oils correctly and most of all, understood the benefits of using oils with moisturizers. Thank you!
I have dry body me and my family. Lately I been using shea butter mix with coconut oil. I like the result it’s bringing to my face. But the coconut oil by itself seems to dry our body more. I want something for my face to glow my skin.
Thanks Dr Alexis! How can I find a good dermatologist who specializes in skin of color in my area? Are there any directories or websites that you know of?
The link does not work for me.. Dr. Alexis! If I apply a retinol at night (& cap with a moisturizer), do I still have to wash my face in the morning before I apply my vitamin c & azelaic acid? I sleep on my back and I assume that the apply at night are still on my skin when I wake up. I don’t like washing my face in the morning but feel I must as to avoid a dangerous reaction brought on by this combination. Pls help! Love your content, videos and your adorable family 🤍 hope they’re well!!
@@Theresmore2lifethanthis I suggest you just rinse with water, no cleanser, just to get rid of any residue. Not because of any “dangerous” reaction but because even if you sleep on your back you might still be getting dust on your face or u might drool during the night or have put a cream that leaves a layer and you want your morning routine to be put on a fresh, clean face 👍🏼
Loving the great info in this vid! Thanks for giving holistic alternatives. I’m not big on purchasing store made stuff I much rather do the natural stuff so thank you!
I started mixing oils in one bottle such as rose hip oil, carrot oil , tee tree oil, lemon oil. Do you think that is fine? (I have oily, acne prone and hyper pigmented skin) I definitely want to buy sunflower seed oil just not sure if I would be doing too much
Great informative video Dr Alexis and perfect timing as I've been wanting to introduce oil into my skincare routine but wasn't sure which one would be best until now :). Could you do a video on hair loss for mature women please. Which are the best oils to use - the benefits. I am going to try Hemp oil as you mentioned its a natural DHT blocker. I have made up my own oil blend using Rosemary, Peppermint, Lavender & Tea Tree essential oils mixed into Jojoba carrier oil 😘
@@Yondainc happy to hear your hair has grown back. Can you tell me which castor oil you use as I've read it can be heavy/thick oil also how often do you use it? Thanks 😊
Very informative video. I love the way Dr. Alexis incorporated budget friendly items that are great to use on the skin for a everyday use. Thank you for sharing.
Such an informative video!! I heard it's not recommended to slug with something like vaseline the same routine as tret bc it could increase irritation. Are plant oils safe to use in the same routine as an active? In what order?
Hi Doctor Stephens QUESTIONS Can you please narrow our affordable skincare because there were so many brands you mention and I don't want to by them all and become a product junkie. 1) When mention Olay retinol max 24 moisturizer is it better to get the serum(retinol max 24 serum) instead or do we need both moisturizer and serum? 2) Underneath the eyes can we just use retinol serum or vitamin C serum for under eye area or do we have to buy the one that states for under eyes? In other words do any serums from any brand work just as good for under eye area or do we need to buy products that states for under eye only? Versus eye patches that will plump our under eye are an put collagen back into our skin. To avoid getting fillers 3) Can you do a video on JJ Labs skin solutions and FACE THEORY skincare line like there niacinamide with azelaic acid ( called Pore bright) and talk about there ingredients . JJ skin labs can be found on Amazon. The company seems to make products fresh for you not pre -made already. They also can delete certain ingredients and make it custom for customers. What do you think of this company? Please do a range of products of this company that will target large pore, brighten, forehead lines and texture skin. 4) Can you do a video on Face Theory skincare line and a range of products? Can you do a video and talk about Turmeric soap and mask that are NOT DIY but are from companies that formula there products. I know you touch upon DIY turmeric mask but you didn't go into which company offers the best turmeric mask and soap bars that work on body and face to brighten our face, inner thighs, knees etc. There are people who sell it on Ebay but not sure if it was a DIY. Last tell us buy this not that from these brands. Example The Ordinary azelaic acid vs Face Theory porebright 10 or azelaic acid. The ordinary BHA solution vs Face Theory BHA or Paula Choice BHA. Which is best ingredients combination list out of the three. Thank you for taking your to read each questions and hope you answers them with videos response.
I'm grateful that you are sharing your knowledge and expertise in this forum. I would like you to share your views on shea butter and whether or not it would be beneficial to use it mixed with the oils you spoke of in this video. :)
Dr. Alexis thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. Can you please give us a video on good BODY moisturizers(light, medium, and heavy)? The warmer months are approaching for many of us. Thank you
Dr Alexis, please do a video on serums. I have combination skin and I cant find a light serum that doesn’t feel heavy and can also help with dark spots/helps skin glow. Thank you
Tulsa I've found an organic website called Tree of Life. I originally saw them on Amazon but decided to go to their website instead and they were three to five dollars cheaper on their website they are all organic and inexpensive and they last a very long time. The company statement is they sell them only on their website because they don't want companies to mark them up the high price charging the customers for huge profit. Their company statement is they want to give quality and good products to their customers at a fair price. I've been using the products for 1 year now.
Only using grapeseed oil while cleansing is okay? I hear some says that mix it with other oils but in my country oils are not that cheap. Is it okay to only using one?
My skin need oil for hyperpigmentation and dryness, I take very good care of my skin , but as you know as one get older we can get dryer ...day Time I use milk cleanser and night double cleanse and use soothing ingredients...what good to dry up a pimple, that I never had ..
Hello beautiful Doctor. Thanks for the information. Please is CAPSULES from KOLLISTIA COMPANY good for HYPERPIGMENTATION and ACNE cleanse? Please help me. Thank you
