I can just imagine Zuck sitting under his heat lamp telling his employees, "Come on guys let's get out there and work, work, work. Just remember you can't spell TEAM without META."
I always thought Mark has what I call "an old face." And I don't mean old in age, I mean like he looks like he belongs in an 18th century painting or something. Odd look about him. Seriously, imagine him in a powdered wig.
I always think that he looks like a weirdo cuz of his weird haircut. When it was longer and curly he looked more human and young, and now he just looks scary
"If you've played VRChat before you basically know what to expect with the Metaverse here." So... catgirls, catboys and furries everywhere. With the occasional meme avatars here and there.
Despite being a child of the 2000's, I've never once used Facebook and I feel so weird now. It's like an entire era that defined social media came, morphed into something different, and now is gone, and I never even touched it.
this is genuinely terrifying. think about devoiced of all human contact, ads everywhere and someone or some people know exactly what you do what you say and they can use and sell data to literally anyone who wants it
Not if you own no property except that which is simulated. Congratulations on the recent purchase of your S I M U L A T E D H O U S E P L A N T ! We trust this new comfort will increase your productivity greatly!
@@piterpraker3399 I don't own any, my homespace is a park bench in the middle of Hyde Park and occasionally a crack den when I can afford it. Why would I want to simulate my homespace? Why can't I simulate someone else's?
Boy, I can’t wait to work, live, and play in a virtual world and have everything I do and say able to be easily recorded by a company that definitely respects my privacy
"If you've played VRChat you basically know what to expect with the Metaverse here" So a room full of a million different conversations at ear-shattering volumes that completely breaks your sense of reality because you have no fucking idea who's talking and who's not. Yeah sounds like my ideal work environment
Reptiles have a morphological trait of having jaw wide enough to accomodate full circumference of their throat in order to devour prey without chewing. It allows them to process the food longer so they can survive without sustenance for extended periods of time.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Mark Zuckerberg starts stealing everyone’s desires and turns them into mindless puppets who worship him. That way no one will make fun of him again.
If we aren't already in a simulation then Zuck is going to put us in it with his VR Metaverse. We will buy 1 for 1 digital NFT versions of everything we know and love from this world with Zuckbucks in his universe where he makes the rules.
Apparently anyone who joins the Oculus division of Facebook is given the ready player one book to read! It sure did influence some aspects of metaverse. There are some articles talking about this
If there are ads, they should at the very least have an ad-free subscription (as much as i would hate that), and if you can't do that, they should have the ads be integrated into the game world, like many games do now, like having them on billboards, commercials on TVs, a blimp with an ad on the side of it, a small banner ad in the chat windows, etc. Not just a pop-up in the corner of your vision that annoys the shit out of you constantly.
Meta actually sounds like the evil company that would run the world in blade runner. At least when Facebook takes over the world they will actually sound evil.
You remember that movie wall-e where there’s a bunch of fat people on scooters with the screen in there face…..that’s the thought I have when I think of this
The problem is that Facebook owns Oculus, which produces the most affordable VR headsets, so they can really push to become the industry standard, which could mean we have no choice but to interact through the metaverse. I would prefer to have headsets that have the ability to connect to the metaverse, but can also connect to third party alternatives, which I expect Facebook would never be okay with. There are already a bunch of Oculus store exclusive games.
I wish literally any other company was doing it instead of Facebook. If domino’s pizza suddenly became a tech company and launched the meta verse I’d be more onboard
And dominos unironically has one of the best online ordering app designs too, half the time I order from them just because I know how easy it is to push a few buttons and get a custom made pizza to my apartment door with no human interaction
I love how their idea of "conecting people" ends up stranding people even more. "Hey how about you never leave your house anymore and only meet with other human beings through VR, you have never been more connected!"
Well that’s exactly where we are headed, he just wants to monopolize the main VR platform. Agenda 2030, the great reset, etc. People will be controlled more than ever, they will work from home because driving will be too expensive. Not just the gas price, but being fined for emitting too much CO2 by driving in what today would be a very normal amount.
yup and imagine what they can do with fake AI people and the data they have on you. i wont be suprised if we see VR homeless people who refuse to take their headsets off because the VR world is way too addicting.
I'm trying not to fall into doomerism but it starts more and more seeming like the only way I can continue is by believing I'm a protagonist and would find a way to stop earth from dying
His voice, the dead eyes, his weirdass facial expressions, his speech pattern, his disturbingly high hairline emphasized by that horrible buzzcut....Mark Zuckerburg is truly an emotionless android.
And trust me that's gonna suck, cause in my opinion the uncensored, random chaos that vrchat has is what makes it fun and entertaining, so the metaverse is basically gonna be dead, and ironically meta in hebrew means "dead" so might as well call it the deadverse
Metaverse marketplace, IRL micro transactions will definitely be a thing but ya I agree the whole cyberspace thing is a very cool idea. It’s like Tron or CyberPunk 2077. Were gonna have digital constructs like Jonny Silverhand or Alt Cunningham getting lost in the void beyond the walls and becoming gods lol
Plot Twist: The real Mark Zuckerberg was in the metaverse the whole time, trying to suck us into his lonely, unconnected world - and the one we've been seeing is just his awkward human avatar.
4:30 imagine you're in the Metaverse just chillin and all of a sudden you're in a virtual store, like a Macy's but in the Metaverse, and if you purchase anything a few weeks later you get a package of the stuff you bought in vr. It sounds kinda cool but it would be super intrusive if you just wanted to play a game or enter an area and were banished to a VR shopping centre out of nowhere. Also bold of you to assume the Metaverse can render Mordor without the entire server crashing.
Until VR/AR becomes as easy as putting on glasses, this concept isn't going anywhere near mainstream. The biggest use for VR is currently just a niche market of mostly janky games. I get that they're trying to get in on the idea early because there is probably big $$$ in the future, but right now Zuck is basically proposing VR Chat with ads and acting like they just invented the next internet.
I work in a VR education centre which is really cool. School trips can come in and all the kids put on the headsets and BAM they're in ancient Rome or ancient China with people walking about and going about their day in real time around them. It's amazing to me how far the tech has come since say 2014/2015
Yeah, I've watched Psycho-Pass a month ago, so when I saw Mark's speech I was instantly terrified with thoughts like holy shit, dude, you know the context better than anyone else, why are you still doing this?
Get a job , i can help you get a job at a McDonald's , you could even cure cancer if you studied instead of commenting 24/7 Edit : CANT BELIEVE I BEAT THE BOTS LETS GOOOOO
Given that Mark himself said they're pouring billions of dollars to get the thing running, i only hope that the ammount of sponsored ads doesn't give me a seizure
@@grmpf imo google turned RU-vid into a soulless corporation out just to make money. I understand they need to make money to run but over the past few years it's gone really downhill
It is legitimately scary how mark was able to make everything he does unintentionally scary. His face genuinely looks like a synthetic skin you'd see in a robot, like it lacks so many features that makes it look like an actual skin.
Zuckerberg: "Tell us what your house looks like, so that you can be in your virtual house *from the comfort of your house* " Nah no thanks. I can be in my house without telling you what my house is.
As someone who sits at home all day only really goes out to friends birthdays cos it would be a dick move not to go, this meta verse sounds like a horrible idea, the idea of looking at someones avatar and that replacing a physical interaction sounds really shit. i get its just a step up from online chatting but just feels off to me outside of gaming.
Using the positive energy of the chaos emeralds, we were able to create nega-osama bin laden. He's an all-american weapon of war we've created to crush the Taliban once and for all.
I've been banned twice now due to glitches that cause the algorithm to randomly hit you with community standards with no reason or context, it doesn't even tell you why or what you did wrong. Mark has dumped so much money in Meta and Threads and we all saw how bad threads failed. It has caused him to have to lay off so many workers, and now the algo has to do twice as much which is simply cant. Half the time it misunderstands context.
Theyre not changing the facebook app/website. Theyre just making a higher order company name to encompass all of instagram, facebook, whatsapp, oculus and the metaverse.
You know its going to be like *every* *single* new tech idea ever. Some stonk hungry dopes try to get in to it early and pump their life savings in it. After a while it's revealed to be mostly hype and the tech isn't quite there yet. It fails and loses a lot of money. Then 10 years down the line someone competent takes all the R&D and makes it work. People never learn. New tech concepts only become widely used when integrated slowly.
@@VikingTeddy Great replication of history with tech honestly. The good thing is, someone with the kind of money zuk has he can afford to pave the way with it and lose the profit. Look at where cellphones are now, we couldn't have gotten here without shitty bricks :D If I get to look forward to something like this 10 years from now with actual working tech I'm down.
When I think about Metaverse, then I realised something: 1) Mark Suckerberg probably came with the idea of Metaverse after watching Ready Player One 2) He probably didn't heard of VR Chat 3) Privacy and security in Metaverse is non-existant
The thing with the Metaverse is that its absolutely gonna be on the quest headsets. The moment Meta bans VR chat to get people on Metaverse theres a shitstorm in the makin
@@thechugg4372 my cousin got one of the facebook unity vrs and they are actually very viable. It uses a camera on the actual headset to map out your room. It's 500 bucks but that's what most people spend on a console anyways so
But don’t worry. While the metaverse was developed so Zuck could live there and simply use a robot avatar to interact with the pre-meta world, for ordinary people the metaverse avatar will just be that, an avatar.
What is most ironic is that the term “Metaverse” comes from a book that is about a virtual universe that quickly gets taken over by the rich people in the real world because they have money, and the virtual world becomes the same as the real one because people are too poor to afford anything
@@miketyson6776 As a fan of those type of dystopian worlds, I can say that I agree with that; it's somehow awesome, and yet a little concerning at the same time, by how fast it's happening.
Not just facebook.... I find all people addicted to social media seem to not all be there. When you see 4 people sitting in a booth at a restaurant not exchanging a word but all 4 on their cellphones..... something's wrong.
