I am SO GLAD they changed the voice back to James Earl Jones. The voice they planned on using was so laughable it took away from the intimidation of what Mara is supposed to be. I remember when that voice came out many fans complained to Disney. Also, why Disney decided that was a good idea, I have no idea. Also, the voice back then and now are the same voice by James Earl Jones, they just changed the octave.
Sounds silly, but it’s refreshing to finally find someone that noticed the different voice for Mara lol I would get in debates with my friends, because I knew the original was James Earl Jones. I was there with they gave an exclusive sneak peak to annual pass holders for the new Mara voice…awful 😳…I’m glad they changed it to what it is now instead of the other one, but I wish they would’ve used the original voice and original effects for the doors. The projections for the doors are cool, but the craftsmanship of the original doors was beautiful. I miss it.
Wow! As a one-time-a-year Disneyland visitor, I did not know there were differences in the ride! My family and I are just so excited to be back in the park, that the differences/updates escaped us. Thank you for your fun content.
So interesting fact: the original voice of Mara was voiced by James Earl Jones And the foolish mortals, infidels, and No is supposedly Mara reacting to us (the riders) looking into the eyes of the idol. As in a way saying "I told you one simple task not to do and you did it, you know the punishment." A little fun fact I know about this. They removed the No and infidels line and only kept the foolish mortals line for two reasons, a nod to haunted mansion and to make Mara more God and powerful. A cast member around the early 2000 told my family about this because they thought we were going crazy about the 2 cut lines
Great video! Please do one on the different sayings Indians says throughout the ride which always change: 1) the first time we see him holding the doors closed, 2) when he's hanging onto the rope, and 3) when he's standing in front of the crushed boulder --- his dialogue in each of these 3 scenes changes everytime we ride this attraction. He says many different things and I would love to see them all documented.
Disneyland has made some weird decisions, and I still wonder why they would pitch James earl Jones’s Mara voice higher in the current version. I thought it was perfect as it was earlier.
Well actually the new mara voice actor is Neil Patrick Harris. Disney had Neil Patrick Harris voice for awhile, but then Disney decided to go back to the James Earl Jones voice because the Neil Patrick Harris voice wasn't that good and it had garnered a lot of hate.
@@Mysterysrl21 yeah that’s what it sounded like to me. like they gave a new actor the original as a reference and told him to recreate it as closely as possible.
2:30 Just like the Cave Of Wonders. INFIDELS!!!! You have touched the forbidden treasure. *Everything starts to turn to lava* Now you will never again see the light OF DAAAAAAAYYYYYY!!! *Fire explodes from the pillar*
Aboo manages to look into the eyes of Mara. [Aladdin] ABOO! NOOOOO! Aboo looks into Mara’s eyes. [Mara] Infidels!👿 [Aboo] Uh-oh.🥺 [Mara] You’ve looked into my eyes! His gold face turns into lava. Your path now leads to the gates of doom! Haha!😈
Fun Fact: As part of the backstory for the attraction, it is said that Indy was able to receive one of the gifts for not looking into Mara's eyes. He gained a vision of the future, and get this: He saw himself carrying the Arc of the Covenant!
@@ParallelDiscover I’m a huge Disneyland fan myself. I have a goal to go to every Disney park in the world, mainly to see how each land and ride parallel each other. The pandemic actually opened the doors for me to go to Disney World for the first time. It was an incredible experience. Have you been to any of the parks outside of the USA?
Yah, Been to them all. seeing the differences, big and small, made me want to do this. well it made me want to watch videos showing the differences because I knew there were more details that I missed, but all the videos on RU-vid about the subject were not what I was looking for so I thought I would do it.
if I were to recommend only one resort out side the US it would be Tokyo, easily the best overall experience. If you can do all though they all have there unique charm worth experiencing
That's too bad. Any chance in the future that it will be manageable enough to go? I don't know much about autism but it is unfortunate you can't experience this attraction.
I get that,I too am autistic. I usually wear earbuds (nothing playing in them) to make loudness more quieter, as for the lights I'm usually not to bothered by it but everyone is different
I remember having an argument once with someone, I insisted the doors on Indiana Jones changed by moving, and they insisted they didn't. We were both kinda right the last time I had gone Disney still physically changed the door, the last time they went Disney had since stopped that.
@@ParallelDiscover yeah I agree. The moving walls REALLY sold the illusion. I wouldn't even have guessed that it was all the same room. I hope the fix it one day. Sadly, It's probably not gonna happen under bob Cheap-ek.

@@Ricoxemani i was just there a month ago and half the ride wasn’t how it’s supposed to be. The doors didn’t rotate , the big snake didn’t even move . The smoke on the ground near the skull wasn’t on so you literally saw the light fixtures down there . The scene where the huge boulder comes rolling down didn’t even work. Sad
Me and my older sister went on this when our family went on a trip from October 26-31 on October 27th we went on this ride and wanted to know what was different because the drop under the ball seemed plebbey but everything seemed fun
