Tom, Thanks for the product. Not only have I used it, I have changed my whole life. This motivated me to change everything! I have the body I had at 20! My view on your product: It was so basic that I had far more belief in it. No huge claims are made and you are do NOT try to sell me anything else. I trust what you are doing. I have tried this and my whole lower face has become liften. People that once insulted me, are asking..me what I'm doing. ''You look so great. Hold on...tell me what you are doing!'' They are seeing the results of this and the many other changes I have made to my life. I doubt I would enjoy my body so much if my face was not so defined. Thanks.

What makes the scalp move is the alternating contraction of both the frontalis and occipitalis muscles. They are antagonistic muscles: when one contracts, the other relaxes automatically. But to do the scalp exercise correctly, you have to gain control of the occipitalis muscle at the back of your head. Just contracting the frontalis muscle at the front of your head is not enough. In fact, if you contract just the frontalis muscle you will develop horizontal lines in your forehead. Do it right

Ok, Thanks - I'm willing to buy it. Isn't it though basically to lift up the eyebrows as much as possible and and then relax them back to normal which makes all the Galea to move up and down? Cheers

From what I understand from the Malinak Method - that the problem with the blood supply to the scalp is about tightness from the muscles the galea attached to - and this is the main areas that it should be relax and being massage: above the ears, above the eyebrows and above the neck) does this exercise help in that sense too? Many thanks sir

Thank you for your effective and easy exercises! I have been doing face exercises for about 35 years (since my 30s, when I bought a little guide by Judy Smith-Deal) and they have proven their effectiveness to me, but one I had been doing to prevent under-chin sagging (a ‘prognathan jaw’ chewing) chunked up my platysma at the sides so that my cheeks and jaw were blending into my neck there - not becoming! Ceasing that exercise plus adding your simple exercise above has reversed the problem over a few weeks while still effectively toning under the chin. My jaw is now well defined:-)
@TomHagerty711
@TomHagerty711 5 лет назад
Problems with the platysma are hard to fix as a person gets older. I hope my exercise for the muscles at the front of the neck keeps your neck looking young. Make sure you pulsate your tongue against the roof of your mouth as you're doing it. The intense movement of the tongue is what benefits the muscles at the front of the neck. A loose platysma adds years to a person's appearance.

@Glasgow Rossco I can't say for sure, Rossco, but maybe 1) try massaging the affected areas to ease the tension and accustom the muscles to feeling some comfort/ease rather than pain, and 2) work the muscles a little less (like tuning a guitar: not too tight, not too loose). I wish you good health and success.

For most people exercise five is hard to learn and do correctly. It's especially hard to gain control of the occipitalis muscles at the back of the head. I sell a video on my two websites in which I demonstrate this exercise, but perhaps in the near future I'll make another video that I'll publish on RU-vid.

It's easy to focus on one simple solution to a problem - like blood supply to the scalp. But in physiological reality, things are not that simple. The scalp exercise has may benefits, only one of which is promoting a more copious supple of blood to scalp tissue. Several other benefits are increased lymphatic drainage, thus getting rid of toxic build-up; and angiogenesis - the growth of new, healthy capillaries. To understand how the exercise is done correctly, read the description on my site.

Brutal exercise! will this help forward head posture & weak tongue, or it's purely for aesthetics?
@TomHagerty711
@TomHagerty711 6 лет назад
I don't think my brutal exercise for the muscles at the front of the neck will help correct the forward head posture but it will strengthen the tongue if the exercise is done correctly. "Or is it purely for aesthetics?" There is nothing secondary about aesthetics. Aristotle once said that, "A good face is better than any letter of introduction," or something like that.

When you do the exercise for the muscles at the front of your neck, take it easy with it in the first weeks. It is easy to strain these little used muscles and get a "fantastic" pain in the neck. But after several months of doing this exercise, you will notice a tightening up of the front of the neck, a well-defined jaw line, and a younger-looking face.

Tom love your exercises thankyou . Can I ask on this one are you pulsing while dropping the head forward ? Or only when starting exercise and head tilting nack? What is purpose of having to drop head forward if not pulsing . Thankyou
@TomHagerty711
@TomHagerty711 5 лет назад
Julie, I do that pulsing motion when I'm tilting my head back. Sometimes, though, when I'm tilting my head forward I keep the pressure of my tongue on my palette. This is for toning up the muscles at the front of the neck. It is effective if the platysma is in relatively good shape. If the platysma is loose and sloppy already, the exercise is not as effective. For the back of my neck, I hold a towel at the back of my head and bend my head forward. I don't use too much pressure though because I don't want to strain the delicate neck muscles. The neck, as I'm sure you know, is an important part of a person's appearance. I keep my neck trim with these exercises.

Hi there Tom, thanks for all the work you do on these exercises and putting the videos up for free, they are all interesting and even fun to do. I had a question with this one though; I'm male, 24, and I have a really nice slim face that I'm very happy with, but I noticed when doing this exercise in the mirror that when I press my tongue against the roof of my mouth, I can't just move it a LITTLE bit like you do in this video, which looks pretty normal, but when I press my tongue firmly against the roof of my mouth, it's hard to describe, but...I kind of look like a frog...If that makes any sense. It's not fat, because I felt it as it was tensed, it just looks like a huge, round muscle...And when I'm not doing the exercise you can see most of my jawline. I'm just worried that doing this exercise will make this condition worse, as in during everyday life when speaking or tense my neck will start to look like that for brief moments until I relax again. Can you offer any help with this issue? Thanks, I'm a big fan of all your exercises, especially the scalp exercises.
@TomHagerty711
@TomHagerty711 8 лет назад
When you press your tongue firmly against the roof of your mouth, a little round knot of muscle can be felt under the ear and in front of the jaw bone. It can only be felt when you exert pressure of the tongue on the palate. This is a small muscle called the digastric. The belly of this muscle contracts firmly. It's a sign that you are doing the neck exercise correctly when you are able to feel it. But you said a "huge" round lump. We might be talking about different things.
@JohnDoe-on6ru

+Tom Hagerty Thanks for the reply, well, it's really hard to explain...If I do this exercise, then feel with my hands all over my neck, it's all nice and tense, it doesn't feel like fat at all, it feels like it's supposed to be there, but...When I press my tongue firmly against my palate while doing this exercise, my jawline kind of...Disappears, if that makes any sense at all, then when I relax, my face/jawline looks slim and normal again. Sorry it's really hard to explain, heh.

Do you have a video on building the cheek area in order to reduce the appearance of nasal labial folds?
@TomHagerty711
@TomHagerty711 9 лет назад
Several women have posted requests for an exercise that targets the cheek muscles. I demonstrated an exercise on my DVD but my demonstration evidently was not adequate. So in about two weeks I'll upload a video in which I'll give a better explanation and a better demonstration of an exercise that will both tone up the cheek muscles and reduce the depth of nasal labial lines.

@thomashagerty3637
@thomashagerty3637 5 лет назад
Tris Raf, To do the exercise for the front of the neck correctly, you have to hold the tongue against the roof of the mouth. But you also have to "pulsate" the pressure of the tongue. By pulsate I mean to vary the pressure of the tongue in a rhythmic motion. What is your native language? Perhaps I could give you instruction in that language if it is not too bizarre.

There is no need to buy my DVDs. Go to my website hairloss-reversible and read through the two pages on the scalp exercise. That's all the information you'll need for gaining control of the occipitalis muscles and therefore doing the scalp exercise correctly.

I'm doing this my eyes was extremely pain
@TomHagerty711
@TomHagerty711 4 года назад
Everything hurt when I was learning the scalp exercise. I experienced pain in my eyes, the muscles in my neck, and even my jaw muscles. It's hard to gain control of the occipitalis muscles at the back of the head. These little-used muscles are tough to isolate and contract. But once you gain control of them, all the pain vanishes in about two weeks. The scalp exercise is beneficial for the scalp and the hair follicles. I'm sure you can take two weeks of pain if your hair starts to look good again.
