I have a CZ 457 Varmint with 2 barrels the 17hmr and 22lr. I haven't taken off the 17hmr yet. I am in love with the current setup. Most accurate gun I have ever shot. mostly same hole at 50yds. That 17 is special.
I have been watching just about any rimfire video I can find that pertains to my Mark II TR or my next rig (CZ or Begara). I 've learned so much the community and really appreciate it. However may favorite part is watching you guys get creative with the digs on each other. Feels like I'm watching myself with my own shooting buddies.
I bought a Victor Company universal Titan cheek rest and shot with it for the first time today, I am very satisfied, it's the best check rest I have ever used. Thanks for putting out the videos brother.
I too own a Savage TR. I put it in a Boyd's Varmint Hunter stock after the original one cracked at 30 in/lbs. Mine has the 22" non threaded barrel. It was shooting pretty well. I then installed a Harrell's clamp on tuner and a lighter spring in the trigger. It is now as accurate as any .22 I own - sub 1/2moa at 100 yds with Eley SABRP. I was surprised at how shallow the lands and grooves were using a bore scope.
Nice! I have the same exact rifle setup and I agree. I've tried a ton of different ammunition. So far the best two were Eley SABR and RWS Rifle Match. The Savage Mkii is such an underrated rifle.
Josh, you don't have to apologize for the ammo test situation my friend! We know how hectic things became and you can only do what you can do! It will be fun to watch when you break out this iconic beast of a rifle and compare ammo again. I keep expecting "Chris" over in the "show me" state to break out his CZ MTR and shoot some ammo tests... :)
I have CZ 457 MTR, but i have upgrade some parts like trigger with Timney and i have shoot it up to 300m metals. On 300 it is not hard to hit metal of 20cm radius. I have tested various ammo and i am vary satisfied with GECO Rifle for training, but i have used it on competitions with great results, ones 1st and 3rd place. Tenex is working perfectly from this rifle too.
I have this exact set up, less the steel rail, made mine from aluminum bar. Looking forward to the rest of this series. I'm sending my barrel to 300 Below for a cryogenic treatment soon. Did it with a stainless match .224 3-groove barrel for my long range groundhog 40X action in 22-243 Middelestead years ago and that thing still drills. Looking to get rid of the cold/warm bore flier. I notice on this rifles even letting it sit for let's say a new shooter setting up their target on the range, first shot back flies. Hopefully the cryo will get rid of that.
Great video Josh, I own several CZ 455, and 457 rifles. I absolutely love the CZ 457, because you can make it your own, I know the weight balance is an issue, but with added weight, you can balance it very well.
Dang those were some Sweet Groups Dig the anticipated 5th.Shot I got one of these Coming can’t wait ! Great info some of your reviews W/This CZ along W/a few others helped me decide Thanks 4 Sharing your expertise. 🤑 I did order 4 boxes of 4 types of the SK to find the best ((Budget)) for my set up That I’m willing to spend on 22Lr. Looking forward to your Ammo review your talking about. I believe One could buy all the ((Upgrades)) possible $$$$$$$ From what Iv seen on a good day your prolb.one of the hardest to beat. I personally Think some of the (Vice like) Bipod Lead sleds should b outlawed in 22Lr competitive shooting 🎯 Especially W/The Accurate Barrel /Trigger Set ups Available These Days Brings out the True skill level W/Bags or Traditional Bipods.JMO🙄
That would be the first CZ that I've seen that liked RWS if it did. RWS is excellent ammo but slightly shorter than Eley. My Anschutz loves it but it doesn't like the longer ammos. The average person with the average rifle wouldn't notice the difference but its huge.
Looking forward to the stock MTR ammo test. When I first got mine I got a brick of RWS Target rifle that shot lights out. Have not been able to duplicate with any other batch of this ammo. Thanks.
Hey, absolutely love all of your videos. You are really great at all aspects of your video productions. It's nice you can get your daughter in on it too behind the scenes with the whoopee cushion! Teach them young! Anyway, I'm curious to know whether you have had a chance to try out latest CZ-457 Varmint Chassis MTR with the 24" threaded barrel (02329) or have any friends that have? I would love to hear your thoughts on it or see a factory review of it if you could get your hands on one. On paper it looks awesome...I'm considering getting one to use in local matches. Is it worth the money over the Varmint MTR? The other route I was thinking of was just buy the cheapest American I can find for the action and buy a chassis and Lilja separately...or should I just order one from Kenny? Your wisdom would be much appreciated!
looking forward to that MTR ammo test. i started PRS this year and have been using the MTR. so far, eley semi auto bench rest out law seems to be the best bang for buck.
I have a hard time up this way getting low or no wind days. I'm doing the best I can and look forward to some clam days. Looking forward to the follow up on the MTR
When to the range today, shot with approx. 15 mph right to left wind, yeah it affected my shots a lot, but hey, its real world, and when its calm it's a cakewalk. Cz/Vudoo
Nice come back, but he did call you out on the 2020... that being said, well done as always Josh, I dig the well placed digs between good friends. Makes me giggle 😊
Hey Josh, Good video. Not so good results. I have bothe the CZ MTR like yours with an Arca Rail and a Zeiss S5 on it. And I have the Savage MKII from WALMART..450.00 in a Boyds Stock..Its totally factory and its a Tack Driver with Lapua Midas and Lapua long Range and SK match. It shoots all three equally as well.My Ruger RPR & CZ 455 also shoot just about as good with Lapua Super Long Range. All are stock. I love my CZ 457.I have a new Lija barrel for it but it shooting so good Id be an idiot to change barrels out now.I dont know anyone who has actually shot out a 22LR barrel. Josh Ive not had any luck shooting Eley ammo out of my CZ457
Hi Josh, love the channel and your informative videos. I started prs this year and picked a cz 457, albeit pro varmint, based off your videos. Can you enlighten me as to what bolt knob you have on your MTR. Thanks!
Josh, another great video, thanks. I have the same rifle & I've been shooting with bags so far. I'm thinking of adding a bipod & I've noticed the way you have the legs on your bipods angled. Does it make a difference with the legs like this as opposed to having them straight down? Also would an Arca rail be helpful if I didn't intend to move the bipod forward or backward? Thanks & keep up the great information
Hey Josh excuse me, but I need your opinion on a topic. I live in France and seems that the 457 MTR is the most logical choice for a precision rimfire. However I offen see some Anschütz 64 MPR (second hand) for 30% than a new 457. Which one would be a better choice? I'm not inclined to compete, just to shoot accurate. Thanks!
Torn between the CZ 457 Varmint MTR (02345) that you have there or taking the plunge and getting the CZ 457 Varmint Precision Trainer MTR with threaded barrel (02355). New for 2022 the Manners carbon fiber stock now features an adjustable cheekpiece. Not keen on the idea of drilling and adding a cheek rest. Looks lame on a beautiful gun. Such as the one in your video. Sure, the Precision trainer is a lot more money but might be worth it in the long run. Thoughts?
hi josh! thank you for your videos, they help me a lot in my search for improvement! I just have a question about your MTR, how do you clean your rifle with your Victor Compagny cheek riser? do you take it apart every time? Thank you in advance for your answer!
@@PursuitofAccuracy Thank you again for your feedback and help! I will follow your videos to see the solution you will find ^^. always a real pleasure to watch you.
Arken or the Athlon? Just got my MTR on Sunday and subscribed to you to get some input on optics. I'm going to do the production standards but probably will never shoot comp. Just ready to start driving tacks
Your trigger looks super easy to pop .. is it factory? Mine has a 20lb pull I swear 🤬 😂😊 If not factory ... what did you do to it? I would like to lighten mine by like .. a lot 😂
Hi Josh, I've been trying to find a stock MTR on the web to no avail. What would be your second choice for a stock CZ 457 that might yield the same or close results as the MTR?
Thank you Josh. I'm so new I don't know how to ask a question. What I meant was what is the second best factory 457 a new shooter can buy since the MTR is discontinued? I'm completely new to the rimfire precision world and I'm wondering if there is a factory CZ 457 that can hold a candle to your factory MTR. Thank you so much for all you do.
I really like this gun! I don't know much at all about this shit you guys do, but it is interesting. What I don't understand is buying an expensive rifle, removing 98% of everything it came with, then making it look like an AR? 😮 Why not build a gun from the ground up if you got 9+ grand for a rifle and optic setup? I could never afford this sport haha. But I love the gun you have in this video, just the way it sits. I can not stand the looks of the ar style precision rifles whatsoever. I have ar 22's and I have ar-15's, but the precision ar style competition 22 make me want to vomit. I wouldn't mind trying some of those challenges, but I have nothing like those rifles lol I feel you're a faily honest guy and I love watching your content and learning. Probably would never have that kinda dough into one single firearm, but it is interesting. Thanks for giving greenies something to watch and learn from!
Haha the chassis guns are very common in precision bolt action rifles. Its a pretty wild sport and can see how it would appear crazy looking from the outside in. Trust me.....5 years ago I wouldnt think id ever own a 22 that cost over 500 bucks lol.
Tight groups art great, but a tight group, in the tree over the deer's back, is not going to bring home the meat. Don't know about you young people, " we are just shooting for groups " To me a group in not telling the story if you can not get it on target. Or do you just not know how to sight a rifle in. LOL
