Heart breaking when the sound had already disappeared and you still continued trying to land on one of these islands, desperately hoping it might still work somehow.
This shouts for a sucessor!! Return to Evermore? But i highly doubt they would catch the charisma of the 90s.... it would be full of microtransactions, online and so on. Maybe its better to leave it or they're gonna really dig out their plans that could bot be fullfilled back in the 90s...
Looking at the Seiken Densetsu 3 Remake, I think Square could pull it off if they really wanted to... But yeah, catching the charm of this game again would be hard but there are so many good opportunities to expand on. Would love to see an improved market system where you have to find and trade items between timezones, or finding rare ingredients to upgrade your spells with your dogs nose.
Deffinitly!! How much would it be founding/ kickkstart something like this? For example a 3D open world game (not too big but big enough to catch the carisma of the original)! A fantastic idea would be 2D passages in hidden secret areas (mountains, behind house...) where there are 2D passages iin the originall SOE SNES engine (comparable to Super Mario Odeyseey's 2D SMB passages)!!
It really is, would love to play more of it. What was your most surprising fact? For me it was the Design of Thraxx resembling that strange arthropod. Love it when games have some real world references.
According to what I've read, the game was developed BY a localization team. So they didn't localize this game, they created it. Normally this team, or at least the core people on it, localized other games. They got Square's approval to develop their own game in the US, and they really liked the style of Secret of Mana. I would link where I read it, but RU-vid will filter my comment again :/. Just search "Secret of Evermore Localization" and you should see the article from CBR. It seems to be consistent with what developers have commented on other RU-vid videos over the years.
