as a pug owner, I say most of this video is correct, except for them being a low maintenance dog. They need to have their face folds washed every day, they have a tendency to have dry skin and need to use moisturizing doggy shampoo, and coconut oil or nose balm for their noses, and they tend to get bad hip problems later in life. I love my pug, but I would not recommend them to someone who doesn't know or refuses to acknowledge these facts about them.

I got a pug a week ago! she's soo cute 😍 also, if you were planning on insulting these beauties; 1) they have breathing problems because their faces are pushed in and theirs noses are always congested 2) if you wouldn't freaking feed them so much and actually get your lazy self off your fricking phone and play with them they wouldn't be so "unhealthy" 3) if you have any other complaints about one of the cutest dogs in the world tell me, I can prove you wrong.

Pugs are awesome. I love them, but they are not really low maintenance. 1) They shed profusely all year long. You have to vacuum/sweep your house often. You'll find their fur in every nook and cranny of your house and car 2) The wrinkles on their faces have to be cleaned daily, or there will be yeast/bacterial infection 3) They are not lazy, although they are fit to live in apartments. They love running and playing. If they don't get enough exercise, they will pack on the pounds very easily. Plus, they will be bored. 4) They love being with their owners. If you can't dedicate time, pugs are not for you. They don't understand personal space. They will follow you everywhere. Source: My pug - Porky

I absolutely LOVE pugs! We have so many in the neighbourhood so I have placed my office very close to the panorama window that sees the street so I end up seeing them all as I work at my office and they are out on their strolls. I have to scream every time I see one. We’re doing this since 2 years now, it never gets old 😂😂😂 Uff I absolutely want one but their documented health problems make me just love them from afar. Currently our landlord does not permit dogs but when I move from here I will browse the Animal Shelter and get a doggy from there I suppose. They all just want love 💕✨

I have a Pug she is Pippa, Pippa is a true warrior well size mattered in this case Pippa was a puppy and sprinted really quickly to get out and got run over but (here is where size matters in the small way) it was a van and she was so small she ran UNDER it so she broke her pelvis but was still walking around fine and she is great now and has a gate so she cant leave the living room until we open the gate.

Now I need one.

As a pug owner myself, I can say all of these are true except the low maintenance point. They are very maintenance and have often many health problems. They can be quite expensive. So keep that in mind as well, just do your research like you would with any breed

I love that their fur generally does not stink, even when wet. I have two of them and my you wouldn't know I have dogs. They love to lie on everything that you like to lie on (beds, sofas, pillows, etc...), so its good that their fur doesn't smell. They do go through periods of shedding though. They are sleepy dogs also and yes, they snore VERY LOUDLY. They crave being in your lap and will try to do so every time you sit down. They don't seem to suffer from separation anxiety but they do hate being alone if they know you're in the house. They will literally follow you everywhere. There is one other important idiosyncrasy that these dogs are notorious for and that is that they're extremely gassy animals. Nearly everything they eat makes them fart copiously and they are the absolute king of the SBD. If you're trying to watch a movie on TV they will have to fall asleep somewhere nearby, usually on your lap or beside you on the couch or nearby on the floor. Sometimes you're lucky and their flatulence is audible, giving you time to take evasive action.

Agree with all this except the low maintenance part! Had my pug Yogi for 10 years... lots of issues medically.. wouldn’t trade him for the world but they are a handful.. and they shed hair like no other... vet bills will be expensive ..

Okay. Fair warning. If you are planning to get a pug, be aware of how much they shed. I have a pug, and she sheds like crazy. If you don't brush them daily, they tend to shed more. Also, don't put any pressure on their necks, as it pops their eyes out slightly. Not out of their sculls, but to the point where they need to go to the vet immediately. But they are the cutest things ever! If you are considering one, please consider a rescue. They need a home too!

Please ADOPT don't shop, pugs are absolutely adorable and awesome but check out your local shelters for a doggy friend before buying from a pet store or a breeder; many pugs and other breeds don't get a chance to be adopted by an owner because many people want the purebred breed from the pet store (these puppies usually come from cruel puppy mills where dogs are kept in cages most of the time!)

Pugs make me really sad. The health issues that have been created because we value their 'cute' appearance more than their function as living beings are terrible. The individual dogs are of course capable of being sweet and wonderful and lovely, but SO many of them have chronic pain and debilitating hereditary conditions, and that's just heartbreaking.

Okay, while I agree with most of these, pugs are NOT low maintenance!!! Due to inbreeding they're prone to a lot of health problems and you _need_ to stay on top of that if you want your pug to live a long, happy life. Regular check ups and keep them on a somewhat strict diet as they can gain weight quickly and that's extremely hard on them. They also overheat very easily due to their flat face and lungs so they cannot be left outside or unattended for long periods of time. Please, please, please do your research before getting one. -a fellow pug lover/owner
