The last idea about planning out your steps and colors is really where it’s at. All the decision making is a time suck whilst paint is on the brush. I’d also recommend a test model to make sure your plan is good.

Great job painting. Why pick blue for the blood 🩸 drop gems though? Seems odd

For me, I haven’t done speed painting yet. not a gamer so its more of the paint aspect.

I love starting with a "speed" approach of some sort, then adding all the little touches to kick it up. My problem is knowing when to stop. It gets better, and better, and better, and... Damn. I should have called it done a step or two ago. 🤬

I make all of my paints watch road runner cartoons. Easy.

There's something to be said that many GW models are not designed for speed painting. I love details on models, and I can use that to tell stories or generate interest. But for speed painting, those details become a detriment.
