I bought Fantastic Planet one day at a Slackers CDs and Games in Columbia, MO and didn't listen to it for like 2 years; it just sat in my top dresser drawer. When I finally listened to it I flipped out and looked for tickets to a show, and they had already broken up. I have regretted it ever since.
Troy Van Leeuwen is one of the best guitar player of all the world, he can be melancolic and frenetic at the same time, demostrated with his prefomence in this band Failure and how he was playing in APC and how hi is playing now in QOTSE. He is great !!!
1997 was one of the greatest years ever. I was into Star Wars, Legos, Micro Machines, Sega Genesis, and rock music. Lived in an awesome neighborhood only a few houses from my best friend. Great times.
For those that don't know, this song is not about being stuck on a person, its about being stuck on a song (a melody to be more precise). This could be one of the best songs ever IMO.
@alfalfa19 It's not about drugs , it's about a song that sticks in your head. Both Ken Andrews and Greg Edwards have said that. That rumour started because of Gregs problems.....
I agree. But in some ways it's better they weren't too famous, because now you have to work to discover them and it's so worth it. It's like discovering a precious gem or something. Unfortunately because of Paramore all these emo fans are discovering Failure and insulting them.
ive got the video of their show at the whiskey a go-go in 96, but im too computer stupid to know how to get it on my computer. after that im sure i could figure out how to upload it.
@Fitz125 The Fantastic Planet album is most certainly rife with songs about heroin addiction, but this one actually about pop songs that get stuck in your head even though you don't want them there. (Which, I'll admit, is itself sort of an allusion to addiction.)
i know this sounds stupid, but i thought paramore was the who wrote and sang this song! until i read a comment saying about this band, then boom! realization. lol
The original studio recording was not played with a guitar on that part. It was a grand piano run through a Marshall on high gain. You might have known that though.
Whoa chill out lol. I disagree with all the people on here saying Paramore is better, I do not like Paramore, but they are entitled to their opinions. If they say they like Paramore better, fine. I do wish Paramore fans wouldn't go on Failure videos and comment on how much they suck. Just keep crap like that to yourself, you know?
I think they are typical example of- in wrong place in wrong time- phrase. In that time most of the audience still was macho-hard rock/ metal audience. They would have much commercial succes in late 90-s early 00.
Paramore did a cover to this song. They also did covers to bands like Sunny Day Real Estate so now emos are discovering all these bands and comparing them to Paramore and making emo videos over this music. Very sad.
@vicmal2112 i don't know much about this band. I do know that anytime a band is accused of making a song about something which is politically incorrect, they come up with a nice story "sanitizing" the song as in : Deftones: Knife Party. Also, as a man with much experience with heroin, I can tell by looking at this video, at least 2 of the guys are stone junkies.
Patcaboli, i love the smashing pumpkins but to say that "today" is a better song than failure's "stuck on you" is just ignorant. Get real and grow a set of ears dude! Failure is the greatest and most underrated band of the ninties.
billy corgan sounds like jerry lewis going "hey laaaaady" in a "bullet with butterfly wings" he left to do that zwan album...gee, can't think of one song off there.....plus he looks like lex luthor on smallville. the pumpkins do have some good songs, but don't say that "today", one of their weakest songs, is better than this one, ok? get real
Sorry to the weezer fans, but with Failure aroung the same time. Us non wezeer fans should have never been subjected to them. Failure is 10x the band, over some of that sorry ass MTV produced shit, that came out in the mid 90's
wow... this band is horrible. I really wish they wouldn't have called one of their albums Fantastic Planet so that I would have never randomly found their horrible music on here.
