Faithfully & Girl Cant Help It & Neil Schon Guitar Solo & Wheel in the Sky, Journey, PPL Center, Allentown, PA; February 4th, 2023; 1st night of the Freedom North American Tour with Toto
Just imagine the moment Arnel is gone Journey overnight looses half their audience. What Arnel brought was new life and a ton of new Asian fans. Tiptoe lightly boys.
Agree with you Troy, arnel did bring more younger fans and asian fans in the fold. But sadly Arnel might step down after this year, he just had enough and reached the boiling point. God Bless the next frontman of journey in 2024. Im gonna bet on this ARNEL PINEDAs last year, so lets just enjoy journey wd arnel while his here. So everybody move on!
sadly the perpetrators of the smear campaign against Pineda do not realize this. Arnel has brought more into the fold than singing the songs Perry made popular. He has brought energy to this aging band. I hope he quits. It's hard to work with people who have to remind you that they "made" you just to manipulate you. He has paid his dues tenfold.
Arnel has had enough. I honestly think he made his decision already and will wrap it up after this tour. The drama effects peoples mental state in such a negative that he doesn't need it. He will go on to bigger things. Neil will have to scale down his lifestyle.
It's Steve perry's band, it wouldn't have been without Steve Perry. I was the sole of this music. Remember at the beginning they wouldn't even look at Steve until there manager told them to work with him. Your are the heart and soul of this great music Steve Perry.
He believes he is the Voice of Journey. Arnel is not. Steve Perry is. His is a Cheap Imitation. I attended the Same High School as Steve. Got to see the Original Band several times. Not the Same. Some of you don't know any better.
@@Eddyandthecruisers What are you going on about. Arnel doesn't think he is the voice of Journey, he was given an opportunity and took it. This is why he can just walk away. Now for me I like the Greg Rolie days and not really after he left.
@@Terk131 I went to Hanford High School in California. Same school as Steve. I got to go to private Parties where Journey played. It was Awesome. If the Beatles would have Reunited with someone else. Not the same. It isn't. You'll never Understand. You weren't there.
Girl Can’t Help It, what a great song and that singer nailed it. I was there to see Toto last night, but Journey sounded fantastic, they could do this in their sleep. Schon and Cain didn’t acknowledge each other at all, can’t be all hunky dory behind the scenes with them.
@@mitchmartin2659 Before Trump the divide was never really there sure people might have been on different sides but there is hate there now. Not saying I am not in on it I hated Trump and felt anyone that backed him was just as well scummy for lack if better words for supporting him so this is where Jonathon and Neal are now and Jonathon is the one that can’t be quiet about his politics not the other way around. Not trying to start anything just giving my take on why there is a divide.
So glad to see Dean behind those drums !!! Wish you well Dean ! I've been a Police Officer 18 yrs ! Recovered meth addict since 1997 ! Praise be and Thanks to JESUS CHRIST !!! Stay Strong and Healthy Dean !!! Journey sounds great love Arnel !!! Guy singing Girl Can't Help It sounded great as well !!! Neal keep it going , you sure play a mean guitar ! Johnathan Cain plays some Beautiful Piano and Keys !!!
At 3:35 Schon went sharp half a step on the chord but fixed it right away. Even the greatest guitar players of all time, like him, make mistakes live. Rock on Schon! 🎸🎸🎸
Aha, Neal and JC performing closer now @Wheel in the Sky performance, hope the 2 come up to their senses and fixed their differences once and for all for that band's sake, hope AP is not affected by all these, they are just the beginning of the Tour, it would be more exhausting for all of them if there are personal feuds around because it shows with their performances. Arnel still sounds good but appears tired, lacking sleep and aggregation can cause it. Neal and Jon should make peace, for now, it's their 50th Anniversary!!
... and to think after 50 years Mr. Schon is the only original member left. I wonder what will happen once he passes. I think it's easy to say it won't be a band anymore.
3:34 is the first time I've ever heard Neal Schon hit a bad note! He recovered quickly, but that was pretty stinky. The best is at 3:46 when you can clearly see Jonathan say "what was that?!" and shake his head in disgust! LOL
It seems that Jon was looking at Deen asking “what was that!” 😂 Neal went sharp half a step but he fixed it right away. Like you said, with all the experience he has, he’s still human and anyone can make mistakes. 🎸🎸🎸
as painful as it knowing all the hurt and bad feelings, these guys can still rock it. They've got the tunes! Hope the come to good terms. Thanks for posting this
3:35 in Neal hits a clam and you can see Jonathan Cain asking what was that and shaking his head. It’s not easy performing night after night without making a mistake. Cain seems annoyed.
If NS would stop airing all his issues on Twitter, this stuff would likely be fixed. He always posts stuff that people should not know about. In fact, me, a loner and someone who just listens to music told him so on a twitter thread, that had at least 4000 different tweets, and I was likely near the bottom, well he blocked me. Tells you how much he loves the drama. STOP IT NS.
Girl Can't Help It is my favorite Journey song. The live video from 1986 is pure gold with Steve on vocals. Was really hoping to hear Arnel give it a shot. But the other singer did a really good job.
That new cat sounds great! Arnel is starting to sing off key. Hey, age does that. Perry can't do his old stuff anymore because of age either. Bring on the next generation and keep the Journey fires burning.
I think they need to get over all this fighting crap and we should start a petition for Journey to play halftime show at the Superbowl in 2024 with Steve and Arnel. Would that be the best halftime show ever or what?!?!
Thanks for sharing this. We were at the show, but missed so much because of folks in our row coming and going no less than a dozen times! No Karen here, just wished we were able to relax & watch the show more. That said, both Toto and Journey sounded fantastic. I could use less Schon showboating and better audio balance. It seemed like he had to be the loudest, regardless of the song. So hard to hear Deen and Jason when they sang. Still an amazing night!
Regarding the Faithfully flub by Neal, you can also see Deen mouth-out what appears to be "wow" right after it and he glances over towards Jason I'm assuming to get an idea if he heard it as well.
I heard the flub but didn't catch Jon asking who it was but you're right, great catch. And the face he gave when someone must have told him Schon, classic.
All does not seem happy with Cain and Schon. Neil has that fake smile on his face. Check out his videos with Greg Rollie when he was doing a tribute tour to Journey. The drummer sang mostly everything and was great!
These guys are only here because they are locked into a contract for the tour, it's clearly about money anymore and many have lost respect long ago over the infighting and power struggles and the greed of it all, I sure as hell did!!
And that's not right by the fans. It is clear that only AP and the drummer are the only ones on stage that want to be there for the fans. They're the only ones that are pushing energy out. Everyone else is just hanging back and abiding by their contract to get their paycheck.
Did Neal apologize to Arnel last night or is that chumminess fake on both their parts? Neal has been threatening to fire Arnel. All because he won't back Neal in this bs with JC over money. It's been Neal all along spending band money on personal expenses.
It's Neal's band. Neal is also the one who went through the trouble of bringing Arnel into journey. So in a nutshell if neal was able to convince Steve perry to come back we wouldn't hear from Arnel again. I love Arnel so not knocking him
@@beerubbed7345 Steve can't stand Neal. He's never coming back. If Jonathan leaves it's just Neal and a bunch of full ins. Deen has been staying out of it and doing his own thing on the side. Sorry but the BANDS money isn't Neal's money. The band is owned by Neal and JC equally now. Except 1 corporation Neal has 51% If Neal is left to his bad spending habits Journey will not be able to tour. Get it?
that is why they have their people running a smear campaign against Arnel including going homophobic on him. they want him to quit I do not think Neal has made a threat to fire him, I think his wife has promoted that on social media
@@beerubbed7345 it is Jon's and Neal's band. Jon signed off on Arnel, Jon is always the guy who has to make the bad news call to Perry that they were moving on, JSS, Augeri, And herbie when he was fired.
@TheRockOracle yes Jon has always had to make the bad calls but in 98 the reason it wasn't management that made the call was because azoff managed Steve Perry solo also. Other than that it's always been management that's let go of people, dean, jss and both Ross and SS confirmed that. Being a managing partner and part owner is completely different. However this whole situation is funny
What happens when Arnel leaves Journey? Its not always about money but the people around you. Filipinos they can even work for free... as long as you treat them nicely ❤❤❤
@@2v_5r84 with the amount of work you need to put in there, bickerings going on in the midst of it all is the last thing you need. People are just speculating I'm sure, but Arnel's tweets also point to it somehow.
Freedom 2023 tour brought to you by Amex, as soon as Schon gets access, and Men's wearhouse where lawsuits are half off. Schon having his wife and lackeys harass Arnel and Cain on social media is pretty low
it sounded like he couldnt hear himself more than voice going out. You can hear him chasing notes. when a singer does that, hes having hearing issues with his monitors. the beginning of the song hes on, but as the band got louder, his confidence was struggling a bit to find the notes.
@brandondonohue733 I'm gonna say he's losing his range. Journey said they hired a new sound guy and fixed the monitor issues. If he couldn't hear himself he'd be out of key, but his tone would still be good
You gotta think, Steve Perry stopped singing all of those high songs when he was about 40, his voiced started to get rougher and deeper in his mid 30's. These songs are meant for young men to sing.
@mojorisen74 Steve Perry is a freak of nature. I've never heard a man that has a tenor voice that could hit the high notes he hit. That being said, Steve knew how to duck notes and sound natural. That'd why if you listen to him every tour he sung the songs differently. Arnel doesn't duck notes and he hasn't had to. I think he's losing his hearing
If it wasn't for Arnel, Journey would not exist. The members would be playing piano bars at your local Four Seasons hotel. If they broke up now the only one that could draw a crowd would be Arnel anyway. And he wouldn't even need to leave the Philippines. Neil Schon doesn't seem to understand he is nothing without Arnel.
@@zebredpusta6338 If Journey disbanded now, all the other members would be hard pressed to draw a crowd, including Neal Schon, despite being accomplished musicians. As I said, accomplished musicians are easy to find. On the other hand, Arnel has the Journey voice needed to get the songs across and he would be fine. He is a Hero in the Philippines. He could live out the rest of his life there quite comfortably.
yelling, straining, shouting.................Arnel has a heart of a LION but unfortunately his voice is gone. He shouldn't have gone on this tour. Let Neal figure things out on his own. Seems like this is a Neal Schon show every night. Arnel would have been better off bowing out graciously, taking a 6 month rest and put together a band of his own, writing and singing his own music. The pressure of hitting the unreachable Perry notes is killing him. He still has a chance to be the singer that he can be on his own.
As I listened to more of the Arnel appears that he's drunk bit but I'm sure he's not but his voice is toast is just gone and they play over and over and over and that's what happens and I think Arnel is done as far as singing. He could never hit the notes that Steve Perry good when Steve was in his prime Arnel cannot hit them now at all even though he tried just couldn't quite make those notes at least tried but just didn't make it. He's trying like hell it's getting worse.
Quit bringing in Perry - he's gone! If you like Perry then watch his videos from the 80's! Do you think he will sound the same if he sings today - BIG NO! I love Steve Perry but this is no longer his show. The guy does not even want to sing anymore so why bother bringing him up?
@RidgeDogRoxx If he's the best then where is he? Without Arnel Journey is finished. Both are great singers and I don't want to make comparisons. End of the story. Let's just enjoy the show!
Arnel carries the band for 15 yrs, will see what happens next if he quits the band, for sure no one can ever replace his voice that still reaches high notes at 54yo. Even SP can't at that age for 10-15 songs in consecutive concerts. Arnel sounds struggling and loses his voice from overworking with this band, his vocal needs rest just like any other singer. He's human not a slave.
I'm going to Die. And Because of Neal Sean F up attitude. He can't get over the Fact that Steve Perry left the Band at the peak of their Sucess. Not a Fan of Karaoke Journey. That is all they will ever be without Steve. He made the Band Great. Arnel has a Great voice. Would you rather have The Real Coke or Coke Zero.
I think Arnel is a great singer. But I’ve been around music most of my life and sang a ton... he’s using cheap vocal effects to cut corners now...just saying what I hear. 15 years of touring has caught up to him. It’s not authentic anymore
Why change the ending of Wheel in the Sky into some 80's melodic metal song. Why ruin greatness just so Neal can shred? They can do what they want with the song, but I just think it's a shame. And the drama behind the scenes is ruining what was once a good project.
11/11/20 It's real... I wish we were together now. Parrish And I've got those lights. I have seen the coming of the Lord. 10/14/77 in Beaufort SC, his spirit took me and saved my life on the morning Roman Polanski and my parents tried to kill me in that clock shaped trailer park. Little reincarnated Jay Sebring lived next door when it happened. That would make me Jessica... Or little Sharon Tate. REBORN! How y'all like little Jean yes, that bitch, Harlow now? Donnnnaaaaalllllldddds! I need you, Bern!
