You hold pickle , not tms up, or tms down- which is what Krause says at different points , save yourself some frustration. Mark the target in SP MODE with TMS up, declare awacs, get cleared hot, get the fpm on the fall line and fly a smooth path. The big circle will appear, then, hold pickle, the big circle will come back and the bomb will come off the rail.
A great tip that I found is that you can easily press osb #3 ( NORM ) by selecting A-G and pressing the Pinkie trigger on your Joystick (if you have set it so from the setup menu ... ). Realy neat little feature!
some additional info: For ccrp, the timer in the bottom right is not the time to target. it is the time till the horizontal marker hits the fpm. you'll see it reset for the second marker. also. bottom right, third line, left number, (00 in this vid) is your course deviation in tenths of degrees. in this vid, when you overfly the target, you can see it counting up to 18, giving 180 degress, since the target is now behind you.
I experimented a little bit with the CCRP into DTOS thing. You are able to approach the target at low level, let's say 100-300ft over ground. After the first cue the second timer will approximately start at 20sec. It is also your time to target at that moment (because you are so low). When the timer is around 15sec, pitch up hard with 5g and hold pickle while doing it. The bombs will come off almost immediately and you can turn defensive. The advantage is of course the low altitude. With a little practice you also can use mountains as coverage so that the enemy has a line of sight to you only for a few seconds. When you combine it with JDAMs and pre designated targets it is still pretty accurate.
some additional info/ for ccip: when the small horizontal line(delay line) in on vertical line to the piper, that means that the computed impact poitnt, is actually outside your hud, wich means when you pickle, its going to go to ccrp mode. When the small horizontal line is absent. the bomb wil drop immediatlely.
Another great video! At 13:07 the bottom line of the right bottom group on the HUD is not a "combination of the two lines above", rather the bearing (in tens of degrees) and range to the release point. Watch it changing from 17:35, when changing to STPT 3, you will have to turn right 170 degrees to have it on the nose.
Great video. A little bit on profiles: CCRP is mostly used for high-altitude bombing (to stay away from AAA and SAMS), and for precision is recommended to use with LGBs. For the CCIP, depending on your negative dive (-10, -15, -20 etc degrees) you can penetrate bunkers and stuff (even doing a reverse release). And loft bombing is a mode to attack targets at a distance.
The bracket you are referring to at 28:01 is actually a splash damage indicator. It's to give the pilot a sense of how low he/she can drop their ordinance and be relatively safe from shrapnel/debris from the blast. It would be on the HUD even if flying level at low altitude as well, not just in a dive. Excellent tutorial vid though! Thanks!
Great tutorial. Just one thing, that line that appears in CCIP ehen you have a steep dive is an indication of the blast of the bomb on you. If you release the bomb while the pipper is below that line you may be hit by the blast.
+lynzoido Sorry I can't respond to your comment directly, but no - you don't want to hold TMS the whole time, about 10 seconds from drop. If you hold it too long, you may have a "hung store" and no release of the weapon.
Great video as always. Should use DTOS mode more but nearly always use CCIP OR CCRP MODES. I would love a good video on drop spacing... So my rockeyes could hit longer lines of moving mud!
Krause recently talking with a real life viper pilot who educated me - THE acronym DTOS, is a double entendre- it's the directional toss, but is also used in CAS as a DIRECT TARGET OPTIC SIGHT, which is why you can use it like an a10 wagon wheel and access ccrp and ccip as well.

in ccrp mode, I cannot get my bombs off the rail. master arm is correct, fly the fall line, hold picked, fly the drop line, 2nd marker comes down and nothing! can you drop mk20 from fl150 in level flight. also, do you have to hold tms up and pickel?

Hello, can you give any pointers on attacking an infantry unit. Should I use a CBU of some type, and should I be in GM or GMT mode. I'm having a hard time distinguishing it on the FCR.

Lazzy Seal seals shouldn't be lazy, as to avoid clubs- I'm here to help: A good procession of sensors is FCR TGP WPN visual. Find it with the FCR at range, get eyes on with the tgp, bore sight it with the WPN page if you need to, see it with your eyes, put the nose on her, kill it. Make a mental map of the FCR picture so you don't end up goofing with DMS left right and down , you can just clover leaf and kill till you Winchester. Happy hunting
Why is it that at 24:32, when youre using CCIP to drop bombs on the column, the ccip line doesn't become solid like a ccrp fall line? You just press pickle and the CCIP fall line and pipper stay the same

I know right he says "hold tms up" and then he says " hold pickle" Those are two different buttons, he also says " hold tms down" I think he is slightly dyslexic , he does it often.
Question about the A-G RADAR... I was doing the A-G RADAR modes training mission, and I could not for the life of me find the ships on RADAR. Even once I visually acquired them and maneuvered the cursor to them in the HUD, they wouldn't show up in any submodes... Tried GM, GMT, and SEA. That's a pretty big group and ships aren't exactly small, so I was either doing something wrong or my installation of Falcon is broken. I had no problem finding the column between steerpoints 4 and 5. Thanks!
Krause, need a hand here . Recently changed sticks and its somehow overly sensitive, cant keep the bird in stable flight for the life of me. So Im trying to rely on the autopilot feature for LEVEL SIMPLE flight. Also, its necessary if I ever want to do CCRP bombing since i cant keep the plane stable enough to do it right now. The thing is it goes crazy on me. Ive searched endlessly and could not figure out how to work the stupid thing for the life of me.Plane acts weird when I activate it.Its alot more complex than it looks. Also there is the options- autopilot 3 axis / steerpoint configuration so not sure what I should use. Would appreciate some help if possibru. Cheers !
In DTOS Max distance only for 45 degrees. Less or more, the distance is shorter. More than 45, the bombs climb higher before to fall. The equations are well known from high school physics. So if you want maximum separation with the target, use 45 degrees.
Jeremy Munsell i believe so. The drag is only related to the velocity of the shell when is released regardless the angle. Its very easy to implement drag given the geometry of the shell. Everything is constant so the drag is a function of the velocity only. And the same drag applies to all angles.
@yony120 DTOSS is a visual mode, CCRP is a radar mode. Essential difference. DTOSS is like CCRP except you visually pickle on the target. You can actually do that with CCRP but its limited by radar gimbles.

Just a headsup. DTOS works really well when you are fast. If you are slow, not so good. You can see in the final part that it takes ages for the line to drop until he goes gate.
Ok, but is it possible to drop multiple bombs in one run with individual guidance on different targets with JDAM? And speaking of that, is it possible to drop one pair of laser guided bombs and then guide them onto two different targets in the close vicinity? I suppose that they would have to be dropped with some time between the release pulse, but I can't manage to get them onto different targets...
I made everything that in the video . But i can't release bomb (i made the targeting etc) but when the big cirle start blinking nothing happens (what is the combination of the bomb releasing ? )
You are probably in steerpoint mode (STP). Switch to snowplow (SP) mode and then aim your nose at the contact, switch the radar range down if they are within visual range.
at 32:20 you said hold down pickle to mark the target, im new, did you mean hold the lock button, because thats what i ususally use, but ive yet to use DTOS and i just want to get it right. maybe you could help me understand a bit better?
hey krause....maybe you can help me with something everytime i put my mouse over an OSB on the MFD's it seems like the mouse is "sticky" when im trying to move it out of the OSB and its not a smooth feeling to move the mouse around the OSB's in order to interact with them maybe you are aware of that and how i can fix it?
1. Yes - if you drop them in manual mode. Its unrealistic and it'll be patched out of BMS soon. 2. It's possible to drop multiple LGBs - it works fine. The targets have to be quite close though .
+Anh Lê Đức You need nose wheel steering on and when its on you'll see the NWS icon highlighted top right, to the right of your HUD. With it on you use your rudder to turn, with NWS on your rudder is turning your front wheel (gear). To stop when landing or rather slow down, you need to hit the wheel brakes then when you want to come to a full stop switch on parking brake. I have both those mapped to my X-55....wheel brakes is C on my stick, parking brake is SW 5 on throttle.
+cns180784 Also before shutting your jet down with parking brake on you can contact tower to install chocks, press T then 8 (by default on keyboard- with BMS keyfile).
Excellent tutorial! Many thanks! One comment to flying - DONT use pedals why aligning your plane along the bomb fall line. I see your fpm jumping left and right - it means you use pedals. Roll your plane to align. Its much easier. Despite of F16 is completly FBW, you create unnecessary yaw by pedals and disturb the normal flight profile. Cheers!

You're not only good at this and teaching but also succeeding in making it apparent there aren't enough days in an hour...... you didn't get this good by RTFM alone.... I'm curious, is autopilot used frequently from target to target (WP to WP), then manual at target? I'm sure that probably depends on distances, of course....?
Been trying the last few days. I cannot get the bomb to drop. The line comes down and then pops back up. CCIP misses by a lot. I'm not having a lot of luck on this haha
jeans1515 it takes time- I was so frustrated yesterday. Even when you know what to do, you have to execute and fly well. There is a lot to think about. All j can say is be honest with yourself, you probably fucked up somehow. It's not a game, it's a simulator. Keep trying, or give up- two options. Spend time on the range, every weapon and every system needs time. I've been working with the Delilah for about a week now, still haven't hit anything- it's not just you bro. Flight and our tactical aircraft represent the pinnacle of our society. Consider what you're learning.
jeans1515 the first time the line comes down is the indication of when to start the climb if you want to loft the bomb. If you’re not lofting just ignore that line, it is the second line after the first one jumps up that you want to focus on.
Hi Krause. Another simply question: Can you throw bombs without these modes?, and especially on F4 Allied Force?. To throw them in the moment that one wants, "without instruments", without CCIP, CCRP, etc. Only pressing "Pickle / Fire Weapon" and the bombs are released until stop firing. This is for use against certain targets that suddenly you see, and does not allow time to change between "CC-I-R-P's" modes, just need to launch immediately on "eye calculating" to hit the target. Help. No seriously. My radar works perfectly in AA mode. But, for some reason I'm totally unable to move the cursor in AG mode. Is that a bug or something? Really annoying.
By default A-G will be slaved to a steerpoint, if you are more than 40 miles from the steerpoint the cursor will just be stuck on the side of the screen closest to the steerpoint. You can switch into "SP" snow plow mode to designate a target relative to your position rather than the steerpoint.
Krause Didnt work. And now for some reasons my AA cursor stopped working too. What the hell is going on with this game. X_X Tried to restart my game, change my control. Tried keyboard/mouse/joystick/prayers, it didnt work. SP mode neither.
Krause Fixed it. Seems like on of the theater I downloaded from falcon online was bugging my game. Now it is working fine. I can finally bomb some targets and enjoy the game!
