SpaceX's Falcon 9 Heavy first ever launch from Cape Canaveral, Florida. Sonic booms can be heard towards the end of the video after both boosters land back at Canaveral Air Force Base simultaneously.

I though the space shuttle landing was cool way back. This is the coolest thing ever!
@springbloom5940
@springbloom5940 6 лет назад
Shuttle landing absolutely was cool. One frozen, frosty, moonlit night, when I wasnt expecting it, what looked like a green welding arc came over the horizon and travelled silently across the sky and over the other horizon, leaving behind a spreading, green glowing contrail that spread out nearly the width of the moon. It was a little scary and I thought we just got hit by a big rock. Then about a minute and a half later, a big boom came from everywhere at once and echoed a couple times between the ground and the clouds. I figured it out, before having a panic attack. It apparently was a rare event; landing in Florida, making a low pass over Texas, on final approach.

The Russians developed the superior N-1 rocket engines to use in their moon rocket. However the N-1 motors were too powerful and their moon rocket blew up on the launch pad leaving a huge crater. The stupid communist leaders then canceled all Soviet moon missions and the N-1 motors were put in a storage hanger for over twenty years and forgotten until they were found and some were bought by NASA. Elon Musk tried to buy some but they laughed in his face.

I fear that SpaceX, like NASA during the shuttle program is going to make the public see space travel as routine and easy...
@springbloom5940
@springbloom5940 6 лет назад
+Kaelan Din- I fear that SpaceX is going to burn out and fade away. All Musk's companies are just revenue fronts and tech shops, for his space program, which is hemorrhaging money, with every launch. The only place its cheap, is at client end - hes doing shots at a loss. Hes recovering the rockets, but the only really salvageable part is the engines, which have to be rebuilt. Its an idea that may one day be realized, but I suspect it will be someone who comes along after SpaceX goes under, that will truly solve the reusability challenge.

@expression3639

They have thrusters at the top that allows them to turn around. Then they do a boostback burn which make the boosters go in the opposite direction. Then they use the thrusters to turn them around again and make them vertical.

@Lonech
@Lonech 6 лет назад
It's a propagation of particle movements in the air. That's why you won't hear sound beyond the termination height of the atmosphere, as there is such a sparse medium (a near vacuum) as you go further and further that there is no way for the vibrations to reach your eardrums.
@jayhoff220

That there is private business entering the government dominated space industry. Just when we thought that our space exploration kinda ended with the shuttle, we have a dude that launched his sports car into space, and booster rockets that can return, land and be used again because its cost effective. Go figure.

@anthem4truth

Why do people keep saying that they're sonic booms? Typically sonic booms are caused by aircraft breaking the sound barrier not igniting rocket engines. Am I missing something here?
@anthem4truth
@anthem4truth 6 лет назад
After more research it appears that the sonic booms aren't actually produced by lighting the engines but rather the fact that they are falling at faster than the speed of sound. The shockwave keeps moving and hits you a bit after landing which makes it seem as if it has something to do with the engines starting.

For some reason most (so far all?) of the non-spacex dual-landing footage is filmed like someone had a stroke while unexpectedly seeing some things falling from the sky. While I can live with some shake (can be stabilised later), why zoom in and out randomly? Didn't you show up with the intention of filming? Did you just happen to be there with a pretty good camera? What were you originally intending to film? I am a bit mad because it could have made a very good gif with just a tiny bit more effort.

Non of the Flat Earthers have any training in computer graphical Imagery at all, and would not know how much work and skill it takes to create ONE single CGI Image, let alone MINUTES of uninterrupted digital cinema! It takes an ARMY of artists and animators working for Months, to create a short animated film, let alone sophisitcated, photo-realistic CGI!!! Which we did not have in the 1960s and 70s when I was growing up. The first computers I used were at the information kiosks at the 1964 New York Worlds' fair. Remember that?

The faked "sonic booms" heard could not have been for the Space X boosters. The characteristic double boom heard after an airplane flies beyond the speed of sound is passed, the first boom is generated by the shock wave set up when the nose of an aircraft compresses the air ahead of it. The second boom is generated by intersection of the wing (wing root) on larger aircraft. That's why bombers will produce a distinct double sonic boom. Fighter and smaller aircraft have a much much, if at all , smaller volume second sonic boom because the wing root area on these smaller airframes don't generate a large second "boom". In the case of these boosters and because they only have the one initial shock wave and no wing root (no wing) they cannot and don't have the two boom sonic boom. The small paddles that are supposed to control the booster in it's landing configuration is too small and in addition isn't solid therefore it can't generate or cause the second shock wave and corresponding second boom heard in these videos. What you are hearing is fake. These boosters can only generate one shock wave and one sonic boom. An acoustical analysis will also show the the sounds heard are from an explosion not a compression wave. This is a faked presentation of compression sonic booms that cannot be formed by the shape of the boosters. What's funny is that when something like this is pointed out the debunking from the Space Fan guys are never the same. If there are two debunkers there are two different explanations. If we were talking about one phenomena there should be on reason yet if there are eight debunkers each of the eight will have his own explanation. The time is coming where those who call out people who bring up intelligent valid questions and others who point to impossible answers will be believed and no calling them Flat Earthers will do as a retort. So enjoy you nonsense and name calling because it won't last forever. But that should please you. You are after the truth are you not? Ok, start the name calling .................
