I randomly found a big box of fresh raspberries for 4.99 at Trader Joe's yesterday! It was like two of the normal small boxes paired together. It was so random that I had to buy it, but usually I totally agree that shopping in season is the best way to save money.

I'm a college freshman and I am vegetarian and have struggled with eating healthy like I was at home. I went to college and got the freshman fifteen :(. It was so hard to eat healthy because the cafeteria at my school has such a HORRIBLE selection of produce. Watching your video really helps and is giving me inspiration for when I go back to school. Thank you so much :).

I shop at Aldi every week! As a college/working person and trying to change how I eat (going vegan) Aldi is such a great place for staple items and produce!!! Thank you for posting this video, it's a reminder to me to always check Aldi first, before hitting big stores like walmart and my local store Jewel-Osco. I love your videos, they are really inspiring and are helping me along my journey to eating vegan!

Love your videos! I'm a grad student too and newer to veganism. I was hooked from cowspiracy and all the environmental benefits of the lifestyle. Could you make a video going over what sustainable household items you use/recommend? (Paper towel brands, laundry detergent, cleaner, etc.) Thanks girl!

In the fall and winter I like to cut up apples or pears and heat them up just a little still leaving crunch to them and sprinkle cinnamon and mix raw almonds in it.

Aldi never fails. I was just there the other day and I should have picked up a butternut squash. I don't think I've ever had one. Roasting sounds good. I'll have to try it soon

I usually go to the farmer market for fruits and vegetables because in my area, it's SO MUCH cheaper than any supermarket, it's local and people are sooo nice (you often end up leaving with free food and they let you taste some!). And for the rest, I shop at my work or in a organic supermarket when I can. Haha, hyper you is cute and funny ! It's called being happy, no ? It's a good sign at least !

06:14 haha thats so me, i buy all kind of berries and mangos during the winter too, because i'm just obsessed with them!! I love fruits so much and don't want to miss them in winter, i know its more expensive, but for me its worth it 🙈😀💕

I'm not Caitlin, but cutting the sprout in half and roasting them at around 400 with seasoned salt/all purpose seasoning and a little oil until they are soft and almost burnt is the only way I'll eat and enjoy them. They get browned on the outside and caramelized and it's sooo tasty

Moving to China has forced me to eat seasonally! Certain fruits and vegetables come and go in a flash at the markets here and you just have to adjust. I actually just bought my first batch of strawberries. They're a winter fruit here for some reason!

Do you have any suggestion on cooking Brussels sprouts? I never know how to season and bake them

Juliana Abate I know this was aimed towards Caitlin, but here two methods I use: 1. if I buy frozen brussel sprouts, I usually microwave them and then put them in a skillet with spices to add flavor and to make them a little crispier. 2. if bought fresh, I will cut them in half and season them all. I will place them on a pan and put them in the oven at 400/425 degrees for 25/30 min. hope this made sense and was somewhat helpful.

I can strongly recommend to eat it with caramelised onions (or red onion or both), lemon zest and pepper, it's my favourite way !

Yeah I'd love to see how to properly cook Brussels sprouts! I enjoy them when I go out to eat but I don't like them when I attempt to cook them myself :(

Damn..Where I live (North of France), exotic fruits are sooo expensive! For example a pomegranate costs like 3 euros, a mango costs between 2 and 4 euros (depending on the quality) and a dragon fruit costs 7 euros.. bananas are ok though, yay ! ^^

hey caitlin! just wanted to let you know that i really like you and your vids :-) one question though: you probably already know that organic (and local) food is healthier for health, enviroment, etc... but i noticed (or it just seems that way) that you don't buy much of it. is it because you can't (or don't want to) afford it or because you don't really focus on that topic? just curious ;-)

Alice Bortolosso I don't think they are in season right now but I really wanted tomatoes and the price was pretty reasonable, it was around $2 I think for the pack
