Fall Guys on Nintendo Switch: Is It Too Little, Too Late? 

The move to free to play was less about reviving a “dead” game and more about epic games buying it and how they like to distribute their games. Same thing happened to Rocket League

The game had an average of 50,000 players in the last hour and that's just on steam. Definitely not dead.

I've been having a blast playing this on Switch. While a bit compromised, it's still plays and feels like Fall Guys. The fact I can also bring my profile to my PS5, Xbox and Switch is also great. I don't plan on buying any MTX so I'm not worried

The discussion of a "dead game" to me is basically just politics in the gaming industry. It's a discussion that'll never go away and is one you can't win no matter how many times it's brought up

Fall Guys staying as a timed exclusive hurt it a lot more than intended and it will probably never reach the level of popularity it had 2 years ago. That said however, it doesn't mean it can't make a good comeback and reach decent success It being crossplay, cross progression and turning F2P are HUGE for the game and will definitely boost its activity and lifespan. The servers crashed because there were so many people too. And like you said its very easy to get into, I played it for the first time yesterday. The switch version is pretty rough but it does its job I think the game is in an alright state now.

6:17 this is actually a issue! The game having basically only paid currency for decent skins and them removing crowns, it removes a insensitive to win, before this game was free the motivation to win was getting crowns per win, which could be used for almost all the cross over skins, and lots of really cool skins, now that kudos is earned at a slugs pace, and that crowns are gone there is no point to win besides feeling good, it removes the reward for winning.

I'm sure the game is doing fine. Has it reached its peak some time ago? I think so. But the free to play approach now is going to breathe in new life into the game.

The jittering animation is a bit jarring at first, but I got used to quickly. The movement of those players, yourself and frame rate are however very stable at 30 fps and that’s perfect for me. The games are a blast, the whole game is a blast!! I’m not really in the Too Little Too Late bandwagon, personally. But you do make valid points about that.

Ive playing and Im having a blast, it could come last summer like they promised, but playing now its still great.

Been playing on the Switch. Really like playing handheld just laying on the bed. Oh yeah, I did bought it on the PC(Steam) but really wan it to play it on handheld.

This game frustrated me far more than Elden Ring or any soulsborne game ever could lol.

It's free to play & crossplay. It'll be fine on the Switch, it's game's that aren't crossplay that suffer on switch.. like Wreckfest, Online is dead on arrival on Switch.

im glad it did not prioritise the switch early on. with the switch online infrastructure would be a disaster. glad they first could take their time and fix and develop on pc and ps4. a switch version would habe taken away so much time and resources

As a player who bought the game before is was free to play I am sad how the cosmetics are monetized. You can’t get good ones without paying real money now.

On my end, the gameplay is fine, but the menu is laggy, & some other players would not move their limbs while navigating through the levels, but other than the gameplay is pretty fun.

Nah because I owned it on Steam and haven’t played it in months, so now it’s on Switch I can chill in bed with my handheld it’s SOOO much better. Also I like using a controller for games like this anyway so it’s great. Once they fix the lag it’ll be perfect.

I'm a huge Godzilla guy myself, and the fact that they chose Showa era Mecha-Godzilla is awesome, he's my favorite version.

I think if you previously bought the game before it went free like on steam you get all the items from the battle pass. I'm pretty sure.

I started playing since the Switch release and I think there are two major issues with it. Monotony and lack of gameplay. Monotony in a sense that the first two rounds are always races to the finish line. Why isn't there a red light/green light challenge for example? Lack of gameplay mainly is connected to the qualifying aspect. Experienced pro players, who played it for several years, kick every newcomers butt. So I think most new Switch players put the game down after constantly losing in round 1 or 2. Already after one week, I couldn't find enough Switch players and had to activate cross-play.

Switch seems like the better place for it.. I love it and will play it from time to time

They overhauled crowns for showbucks. It's tragic because now you gotta pay money for cosmetics above uncommon and the grind is worse. I don't think there will be many casuals playing Solo Show to grind exp for the pass/showbucks. The incentive to win been cut short.

I installed it and then deleted it as I was never able to get into a match and it decided to freeze my Switch for no reason.

On one hand Epic saved the game and revived it (hopefully) and on the other hand they ruined the incentive to win and buy skins with kudos and crowns. Crowns are almost useless now besides to flex and wastes many hundreds and thousands of hours of your life getting crown rank skins on a kids game. Making it free and epic buying it and advertising it saved it but since it's free they need to make money. So they invent show bucks which are essentially just v-bucks. Same amount, same prices. I wish they would buff Kudo rewards and make show-buck skins buyable with crowns or kudos but just harder to get that way. Like say a 800 show-buck skin would cost 1 or 2 crowns. Or a 800 show-buck skin would cost 2400 kudos but kudos are easier to get. They alternate prices would be different of course. But honestly, epic could have bought the game and still made it popular without it being free. Hundreds of switch games or 60$! Fall guys was a measly 20. The game cost wasn't the reason it died. It died because of lack of multi-platform support, buggy mess, not replayable since didn't have much content at beginning and small dev team which caused slow updates. It wasn't even completely dead. Many still played it. It just wasn't talked about as much. Not very much big streamers and youtubers played it anymore. Epic didn't have to destroy crowns and kudos and create show-bucks which clearly are identical to vbucks. In conclusion epic didn't have to ruin fall guys by going free. Going free made it impossible to make money without monetizing in game purchases. Epic games could have regained attention by doing mass advertisements to regain the attention of people. And interest them because fall guys was owned by epic and epic was advertising a major update. That would bring back many people. Then they could have rolled out much more platform support since previously it was very limited. I believe epic had many other choices but chose to be a greedy corporation. This is not epic.

Has nothing on Crash Bash. Snorefest. I don't get the choice to make it elimination. That just makes it so some ppl queue up, only to lose 1 round in and be forced to try again. I would've preferred if when a match was made, all players would play all the rounds, get points based on their performance every round, then the top scorers would be rewarded at the end.

I don't agree with the title of this video. And only came here to see if anyone has the same problem as me where it gets stuck on the loading screen when I play it on the switch and it sounds like the music and everything else loaded.

I tried and uploaded a video with my first experience yesterday, it was mostly loading screens and loggin issues, one day later is pretty much the same, a little better BUT IS SO DANG FRUSTRATING, getting to the last round and being disconected, like is not my fault, I earned a spot there and the game says ''Nope'', that aside it does repeat the same challenges quite a bit, idk if there is more than 9 challenges at the time, but ifthere is I can barely see them, I saw an hexagon thing once out of 40 times getting to the final round. TLDR: Lots of potential, make more stages, maybe even add some ''One stage BR'' where is survival till one wins and give some of those crown shards thingies.

I honestly would rather have paid for it upfront than it having the fortnite style model. I know free to play increases player count but the FOMO aspect is annoying.

The reason it became free to play is because epic bought it and epic likes to make games free to play and allows people to buy the show bucks to spend and all of that

I had such a hard time finding a game on Xbox Series X yesterday. I hope it’ll get better even though the game pisses me off lol.

Obviously this didn't age well, but I'm not here to rag on you for the same reason I know you weren't saying what you said to hate on Fall Guys: because I thought the same thing. A temporary bump in player count, at best, followed by an immediate drop off when the new players couldn't compete with the veterans who would dominate the lobbies. So why were we wrong? I think, in hindsight, the way to look at Fall Guys back in 2020 is almost as an early access release. They had the beginnings of a game, but they needed time and a couple years of building it up with the help of community feedback before they could go 1.0. Kinda like fellow 2020 indie darling Hades, which entered early access at the 2018 Game Awards, and didn't hit Xbox and PS until early 2021. In that light, the fact that it took so long to get to Switch and Xbox isn't so bad, since it wasn't a finished product, anyway. That and all the $$$ Epic spent marketing this sucker. Good grief!

It should've been released months ago in my opinion because at this point Among Us is more alive.

When keeping it exclusive goes wrong. Should of been multiplat day one. Now hype has faded dramatically. I'll give them some credit though. They did eventually get it on the Switch. Genshin Impact on the other hand. There's a mobile version and its still not on Switch. 🤣

Finally played it and it was a huge disappointment. The match making was bad. Sometimes found a lobby and other time nothing. The free pass play favorites. You got barely get anything from it. The store is very terrible. I got wait a day to a week and hope for something I like apppear. Overall disappointing experience and I will not be returning to it.
