Remake of a video I made a couple years back using Not Windows Movie Maker. The experience was much more pleasant!
Original Description:
A video I made to try to show life before and during the Cylon Holocaust. I wish I had used different clips in certain places, and I tried to add voices in acouple of spots, but I don't know if I like it or not. I made this video entirely at school instead of at my house, and was lucky to use a top of the line computer instead of the rotting pile of junk I'm typing at right now. I showed it to my 3d Animations teacher and one or two people in my class who were watching, and they said it made them depressed. You decide if thats a good or bad thing. The music is Everyday, by Carly Commando.

It'd be cool to see a fanfic where Baltar grew a pair and bullshitted Six. Just to see the awesome space battles, fully functional Colonial fleets vs. the invasion force. "What the hell did you do, Gaius?" - "Oh, I'm afraid the battlestars will be quite operational when your friends arrive."

Word. Everyone says he's so smart but in my opinion he's stupid and a coward.

Well the cylons would still win hands down. they culd basically launch suiced battlestars towards the colonies and nuke it one planet after another. Even if the cylons lose their entire fleet and are only able to destroy one human planet, it is a huge blow humanity would need centurys to rebuild from while the cylons can reproduce faster and simply by attriton defeat the humans. Also by killing an entire planet the most valuable ressource of the colonial fleet, humans, is seriously deminished. Humanity never had a chance to win the war in the long run. Without them finding the cylon main base, which is basically impossible, they would lose.

You dont need to destroy the planet or make it into a nuclear wasteland. Just hit the major citys and weapons manufacturars. do to radiation those areas will be inhabital for quite some time, meaning the planets infrastructure would collabse and many more would die from starvation, riots, etc. also a planet is really big. the cylons, with supirior jump capabilities and local spies, could technically launch suicide basestars or transports filled with nukes and jump them into low orbit of a planet, similar to the adama manouver (they had enough time to acurattly make preparations to be able to jump imidiatly into latmosphere. It would take seconds for the nukes to hit the ground and no battlestar could do anything

It would make for a very short war. The Cylons were no match for Colonial forces. That's why they had to bet everything on the surprise attack and why it was imperative they do it quickly. We all saw what happens when even a single Battlestar, regardless of it being understaffed, outdated and underequipped, can do if it is allowed to fight back. The Cylon Basestar was not designed for fleet combat. It had no offensive capability other than missile launchers and no defensive capability other than its raiders. No kinetic batteries and no point defense and it was lightly armored. Its purpose was to jump into a combat zone, shutdown the defense/operating systems of all enemy craft in the vicinity and launch a hailstorm of missiles in order to kill all targets before they could bring their systems back online. The Jupiter Class Battlestar was basically a highly mobile siege/defense platform. It carried a bigger compliment of strike craft than the Cylon Basestar, was equally as well armed with missile capabilities, armored to withstand repeated nuclear warhead strikes, but also had an array of kinetic weaponry at her disposal. Her point defense system consisted primarily of flak batteries that when used properly could make her nearly impervious to missiles and strike craft. In addition to her withering flak capabilities, a Jupiter class could also bring hundreds of secondary batteries and viper strike craft to bear to supplement her point defense system. In a straight up fight, a fully outfitted and functional Battlestar would create a near impenetrable shield of flak, secondary cannon and viper point defense to prevent the enemy from focusing their fire on a particular location. She would then press right toward the enemy, using her long-range missile capabilities against large vessels and strike craft against enemy strike craft. As she would close the distance, her defensive umbrella would shred anything that dared to get too close. When in range, her mighty forward-mounted railguns would begin ripping into the Cylon Basestar's relatively useless armor inflicting terrible damage deep inside the ships interior. Provided the Basestar survives this onslaught, a Jupiter Class Battlestar will continue to close to within secondary cannon range, where she truly feels at home and really starts to shine as all her weapon systems become available against her battered foe. The Battlestar is a brawler and knife fighter. She can get the job done from a distance, but prefers to get in close, nullifying most of her opponents weapon systems and put the fear of the Gods in her opponent.

Fabian Kirchgessner True, she didn't do so well at Ragnar, but I liken that to her having to fight a battle completely foreign to the roles she was designed for. All her secondary batteries and strike craft were reduced to keeping the Cylons off of the civilian ships. Where their normal tactic would be to push most of her strike capability at the enemy while Galactica runs them down, railguns blazing, she was forced to spread her fighters out wide instead, increasing the flank to prevent raiders from getting around the defensive barrage to get shots on the civies. This resulted in allowing enemy missiles and raiders to close much of the distance uncontested. She had to expose her topside flush to the Basestar, increasing the size of her profile greatly, to help shield the civilians. The Cylons were given a great big flat surface to shoot at and given Galactica's disposition in relation to the Basestar, her defensive fire capabilities were even further reduced, since she had even less guns to bring to bear. Given the fact she basically had to sit there at Ragnar and take it on the chin only to continue for the next few years giving the Cylons fits, I'd say makes a pretty compelling argument for my initial appraisal, especially when you consider she took down the Cylon colony before breaking her back. Even then, it wasn't the Cylons that took her down, as she had to be driven into the sun to meet her demise. Of course, Galactica couldn't fight 3:1 against Basestars (she probably could, but it would leave her so battered she probably wouldn't be able to fight again) which is why we see her jump away as much as she does. My reply was basically in response to the OP's desire for epic space battles. I believe the Cylons would show up, the Cylons would proceed to attack the Colonials, the Cylons find out why you should always have a plan B, the Cylons collectively start getting their shit pushed in, the Cylons jump away and hope the humans forget about them for another 20 years.

0:05 Hey, that's Tollana, the Tollan homeworld. I believe it was destroyed by the Goa'uld, Damn, it was destroyed by the Cylons too? They always getting beat up.

That is caprica city's downtown. If I remember right, the scenery was created only for BSG at a university in Quebec, Canada

SPACECRUISER96 Welp, I'm tellin ya. Watch Stargate season 5 episode 9 (Between two fires) and either the Tollan's built an exact replica of Caprica city or they shared it. Or maybe they are the same people. Woah! Ever think of that? Could be. I mean what do we really know of the 12 colonies? Perhaps they interacted with the Tauri in the past and didn't even realize it.

the episode tollana was aired before bsg ever was aired. so they probably did out of coincidence, or they did pass a few scences.

Was it the Goa'uld or was it the ascended System Lord, Anubis who did the deed?

One ordinary day, when a historic BSG group is being decommissioned, the routine diplomatic contact between enemies is happening & a junior member of the Colonial Government finds out she has a terminal diagnosis, the world REALLY falls in all at once. Well, shit, thank the Gods they had some folks w/backbones to get things moving!

Too bad that there weren't other Battlestars that like Galactica and Pegasus that weren't upgraded with the cylon virus program. 15 battlestars making a last stand at Virgon vs the Cylon fleet while another small fleet of 5000 civilians flee into spaces escorted by couple light battlestars. Have them like Galactica find the ruined "Earth" of the 13th tribe and Kobol but unlike Galactica they decide to return to Kobol and rebuild there.

At 0:09 point, it looks like there is a Firefly class ship visible in the sky as seen through the skylight. Homage? Practical joke? Recycling?
@Zachomara

Probably a little of all three. Homage and recycling are likely the reason here.

Yes. Google it. Many sci Fi movies toss in something from another. Sometimes with permission like et in star wars and sometimes without. The owner of Firefly was happy here.

You noticed that too firefly was around back then maybe they got permission to use the design hopefully Mel and his crew got out of there in time not to mention serenity is a different type of design of ship it old but functional so I don't think the cylons would be able to shut down there ship
