That is the most unique way of connecting the overpass with the ground at Finch Farm! I was utterly transfixed watching you piecing that wonderful collection of structures together... And I absolutely love the attention to detail you put into the "engineering" of the whole with all of those supports to enhance immersion! That has to be one of the best builds you have yet come up with!!
Thanks! I was a little worried about this section, most methods I have seen to get on the overpass involve large ugly towers that tend to overpower the rest of the build. Really happy with how it turned out and feel it strikes a nice balance of not looking too out of place, whilst still drawing the eye and hopefully making people think “oh, I wanna climb up that and see where it goes”. Great to hear you also liking the ‘engineering’, always like my structures to have visible supports so they look somewhat realistic, have been able to tweak and add a few more off camera which you’ll also hopefully enjoy when shown in the finished tour 🤞😅
Wait, that hanging house is so cool!!! I wasn't expecting you to build on top of the overpass. You're super creative, I can't wait to see that house decorated!
Thanks! I did say the latter parts of the build start to get more interesting 😉🤣. I must admit this is a little out of my comfort zone as I prefer to build much smaller low key settlements, but still very pleased with how it turned out and don’t think it looks too out of place.
Must admit I am not really a fan of overpass builds, but felt people were probably a bit disappointed when I did not use the one at Graygarden so forced myself out of my comfort zone for this build. Great to hear you liked it, many thanks! 🙏😊
I'm currently using all your settlement layouts in my current game. I like every details that you put into your settlements. They are so detailed and immersive plus not over-built. It warms my heart to see that you are still building as of today. Thank you for doing this for us.
Glad you hear you enjoyed it, thanks! I feel a little guilty for using some many spawned objects in this part, but after finding those chains in the Creation Kit I knew I would have to use them (and they look so much better than my original plan of using power cables) 😅.
That looks absoolutely amazing! As always, you make it look easy. I love the meshing effect for the road. I was a bit nervous about the chains, until you connected the other side to the pillar and it looks amazing AND stable. Great job!
This is some of your best work mate, console commands really doing a lot here! Brilliant! Hoping to see some Nuka Red Rocket at some point in the future!
Thanks! Was a little worried I had leaned a little too heavily on the spawned objects this time, but feel they really help to some much-needed detail to the build. That and I hate having structures without visible supports which the base game does not provide may options for. I have a plan for Nuka World Red Rocket but not sure if I'll be able to pull it off and would proably be quite time comsuming... might be something I give a go when I have some time off over the summer 👍
@@FiddleflapsVids Yeah, there is a pretty big lack of supports overall in vanilla, I usually use the two long posts that come with the Contraptions track kit, but they are lacking too. Nuka is definitely a huge settlement, it will be a good warm up if you ever do the notorious Spectacle Island!
I have only been using mods for a short time and was really confused when you started placing the floors below the overpass. I am definitely getting the place anywhere mod! My imagination is going to go crazy with it. :)
Building never really ‘clicked’ for me in this game until I started using Place Everywhere. Allowed me to focus on and enjoy building what I wanted without having to fight the games various restrictions and limitations, and of course opens up a lot more options for what you can do with the settlements 👍
@@FiddleflapsVids - That could be messy. You might want to put a guard rail on the wooden stairs. Although it probably won't help, as the game's AI is able to fall off anything, regardless of how many safety features are present.
Was a bit worried about this series as I felt some of the more interesting sections are not made until the end. Guess that’s the problem with showing the whole settlement being made, but great to hear you have been enjoying! Thanks! 😁
My finch farm I have covered the highway with flooring and then build shops with bedrooms behind them. To get down to the floor I used scaffolding ramps. It's enabled me to use much of the ground for farming. Worked extremely well for me. I named the market at the top, market highway
That my friend is the best Finch Farm build I have ever seen! I wish I had your imagination. btw my Place Everywhere isn't working properly any more. The placing part of it does, but the 'fine tuning' doesn't work which is a shame and sorta spoils it for me.
Great to hear you liked it, many thanks! I thought the precise movement function had been fixed in the latest update for Place Everywhere and it was just the static object function what was still broken? Cant say for certain as have yet to update my game as there’s still a few mods that I am waiting to be updated. Still, might be worth checking that both the mod and F4SE are up to date?
@@FiddleflapsVids Yes, I did update the game, F4SE and Place Everywhere but I'll check again to see if there have been any further updates. I'll also read the Place Everywhere instructions carefully again as I have been known to forget a setting!
this was amazing! I was wondering if you are planing to build more structures up on top of the overpass? I imagine you would make some amazing things up there!
Thanks, that’s amazing mate, love being up on high platforms and taking in the view, just a question, how can you be out side of the green zone? I have the place anywhere mod, but still get the 5 sec warning if I step out the green zone? Keep up the fantastic builds.
Great to hear you liked it, thanks! I build using the Place *Everywhere* mod on PC which lets me turn off the workshop timeout by pressing F5 which I do at the start of the vid. I have never used Place Anywhere on Xbox but believe it does not have this feature.
Thanks! To avoid having to open and type into the console during the video I save the commands needed to spawn those objects into batch files, these are then run using a hotkey mod: www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/46419
It's so wild watching you build. You're so methodical and precise. That first piece that snapped on to the side of the bridge, does it normally do that or is that a mod? Love you videos and keep up the great work!
Glad you enjoy, thanks! Before recording I sunk some floor pieces into the bridge to act as snap points, you can just about see them at 4:00 as I walk down the stairs. I did this off camera as its rather fiddly to place, and as the rest of the build in this part hangs off this one piece I needed to make sure it was lined up correctly.
@@FiddleflapsVids Ok awesome that makes a lot of sense. I assume you're on PC? I play on the Xbox and it seems like there aren't as many building mods that let you get away with as much cool stuff that you can do on PC.
Yes, I am on PC. From what I have seen Place Anywhere on Xbox has most of the same core features as Place Everywhere on PC. Although I guess thanks to the script extender it does have a few extra features such as disabling the workshop timeout, and its extra object selection mode which I use to move objects spawned via console commands.
I'm Brazilian and I know little English, sorry if any words don't make sense ok I really liked how you built it, congratulations! Please tell me which mods you use to build! And once again congratulations!
Great to hear you liked it, thanks! This was done on PC and the only mod used was Place Everywhere: www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9424 The objects that cannot normally be built (such as the chains, wood posts) were added using the _placethere_ console command followed by the objects Form ID which I have listed in the description.
I've now just started playing the enclave mod america rising 2 it makes we wish that fiddle would make a enclave themed settlements/outposts for fallout 4 or maybe other faction themed settlements aside the minutemen.
I may at some point do some other faction themed builds, but as this playthrough is focused on rebuilding the Commonwealth it will remain mostly Minutemen focused.
When I watch these clips of settlement builds and the player is using glitches and console commands to construct these crafty works of art... I got only one thing to say... "No, Harry Potter sh!t, alright."- Kano I'm not using any console commands or build glitches on my ps4. So go easy on me, okay?!😊
Wait where did those chains come from?😳 Great build, especially considering the frankly atrocious build mechanics of this game that Bethesda really couldn’t give a shit about. For example no remote build camera? Whats that all about? Forcing us to build from the top down or find some way to get above the build! Are you using a build anywhere mod too? I constantly get red outline “clashing” indicators when trying my more elaborate builds.
Those chains along with a few other normally un-buildable objects were added using console commands (see description for more details 😉). I build with the Place Everywhere mod which I find takes a lot of the frustration out of building, and allows me to focus on building what I want without having to fight the games limited mechanics 👍.
I would expect you would be able to make something very similar without a placement mod, although some aspects would probably have to be altered and not sure if you would be able to glitch objects into the overpass supports.
I have in the past, but for this playthrough my goal is to create a save where every settlement has been built up but can still be loaded without any mods.
can you please give some advice or answers about NPC activities and how settlement attack work in my buildings, please? I was trying to build something good but when i build generator or water purifier pound in a mini house to save it from attacks , i discover that enemies from settlement attacks spawn inside of my buildings specially where i save my generator and purifer water pound. Another thing would be How NPC settler or raider of nukaworld in gang outpost work about high height and stairs because when i create stair for them, they directly fall from there and die , another thing would be when they are farming food or something in the last floor and when i am walking to my settlement and it start to load the map directly my settlers or raiders fall until the first floor like if there werent buildings or nothing. I tried to build something cool in finch farm but my settlers always fall from the big bridge where a place my crops and water purifier since settlement attacks spawn inside my houses which is really stupid . A perfect build to protect my water and generators and attacks dont spawn inside of them? A way that my settlers can use that bridge or do thing in high heights without fall or something? i had the same problems in graygarden with the big bridge that this settlement has.
Due to the spawn points being inside the settlements I have always used the No Settlement Attacks mod, I think it was the first mod I ever installed for the game and have never stopped using it. As such I really don’t have much experience with the settlement attack system. If you still want to have attacks there are mods that move the spawn points outside the settlement borders. Alternatively, you would need to look up where the spawn points are and then try and plan your building placements around them. This is the first time I have built on an overpass and so far not had any issues with settlers falling off and not really sure what to suggest, sorry 😔
