Fallout 4 - Building at Nordhagen Beach 04 (Settler Housing)

This series covers the construction of my settlement at Nordhagen Beach. Apart from Place Everywhere no settlement object mods were used, and only uses vanilla and DLC objects with some additional assets being spawned using Console Commands.
In the forth part of the series I construct three settler homes that make up the main residential area of the settlement.

lol, I don’t know what would be more dangerous. Trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic wasteland or attempting to sleep in a house I built myself... probably best I stick to just using virtual tools! 😅🤣

Thanks! The decoration and furnishing always finishes off a build and hopefully should give these homes (along with the rest of the settlement) a bit more personality 😁.

I could only imagine what you'd be able to do with just a few workshop mods. Some of the vanilla categories feel a little lackluster, yet somehow you manage to make it feel different every time. Not one building you do ever feels the same, amazing job!❤

My only worry though is the ai pathing. Do they typically end up working or do you change their pathing yourself?

Thanks! The settler pathing AI can sometimes cause issues, but generally all my structures can be used by them. In some cases I need to add some additional pieces in to the floors for problem areas, this acts as an additional path and helps the settlers to path correctly.

Love to watch how you do your flooring work. Just wish console lets you adjust heights in those increments with needing a mod.

Thanks! Being able to incrementally move objects is certainly a feature I could not live without now! I know a lot can be done using glitches but I sadly don’t think there is a substitute for it without having to use a mod 😔.

I never fail to learn new tips and tricks for how to achieve certain looks whilst watching your builds. For instance the "fence" building at time marker 10:30. Such a simple trick. Yet I have never thought to get that done that way. Looking forward to whatever I learn next.

Thank you! My builds are mostly trial and error, apart from knowing what a structures purpose will be I have no idea what its going to look like and just start throwing pieces together and see what sticks... Sometimes it works out great, but usually involves lots of building and tearing down stuff until I get something I am happy with 😅🤣.

I wonder if they're going to seriously evolve the settlement system for Fallout 5. Bethesda did confirm the existence of Fallout 5.

Sadly I feel systems in Bethesda games seem to devolve which each release rather than evolve, based on what they did for F76 and Starfield I don’t hold out much hope for things being better in Fallout 5 😔.

I like the emphasis on windows with your costal settlements. Gotta give your settlers a nice view of the ocean! As for a brief suggestion, I think it'd make sense for cloth-covered windows to be used where other settlers can peek inside (privacy!), and open windows to be used wherever gives a good view. What're your thoughts on this?

Thanks! I agree with your thoughts about the covered windows and do use the open ones in a few spots in latter stages of the build. I had intended to use them in the first house with the two windows as that’s intended to be a kitchen area, and offers some nice views of the coastline along with another structure that’s not been shown just yet 😁👍.

Possibly might give it a go at some point, although I think there is still plenty I can do with the vanilla and DLC ones 😄.
