Fallout 4 was already an enormous game upon its release, more than four years ago in 2015. However since then, Bethesda Game Studios expanded upon the title with a series of major DLCs and content add-ons that made the world of Fallout 4 and it’s story even larger. Far Harbor was among the first of these expansions, taking players to a mysterious, fog-covered island in the state of Maine. Much like Fallout 4 itself, Far Harbor is also loaded with dozens of Easter Eggs, hundreds of references and countless secrets, carefully implemented by Bethesda and the DLC is so large that even today, many of them have gone unnoticed. So today we’ll be taking a look at some of the best, as we dive into my top five Far Harbor secrets and Easter Eggs you may have missed in Fallout 4.

During my first playthrough of Far Harbor it really felt like I was in a Stephen King novel. It was night, a lot of fog, monsters coming out of it. Felt like the Mist.

Yeah, I loved the atmosphere, and had me playing a little more cautious, what with the Gulpers hiding in trees to drop down on you if you didn't notice them, or the Giant Hermit Crabs that would pop out of scrapped vehicle shells if you got too close to them

If you listen closely during the encounter of Kellogg inside Vault, when he kills your spouse, you can hear a shell casing hitting the floor. It is quick and sudden, though strange as he is using a revolver. :O

I grew up near Bar Harbor, Maine, and the fog in Far Harbor is NOT an exaggeration. I recommend taking a visit, it's a really nice place for a vacation.

I can't remember if it's a ghost ship or not but I saw something on netflix (not on there anymore) about it a few years ago and did the whole Leonardo DiCaprio pointing meme.

It's Atlas, with references to both the Titan AND the Story that Red Eye tells on Raider Radio. Notice the Skeleton seems to be holding up an Orb on his Back/Shoulder. Now, listen to the story of Atlas and you can guess this is the very one that Hope obliterates. From a wide angle, it looks a bit like a petrified mushroom cloud. "The biggest story is that spot WAY North of Boston." He says Andover, but look at the geography to the East. It's Far Harbor (Gloucester)

I’m amazed at how much attention Bethesda paid to the actual history of these places. I think the pet cemetery is hilarious because BAR Harbor, Maine, was one of the premier summer communities for the richest of Americans until a massive fire in 1947. Rockefeller’s son spent tons of cash to make scenic carriage roads all around the place just because he didn’t like cars. So a massive pet cemetery for fawning, rich pet parents is appropriate lol.

Thertane stajia I agree. My theory is Bethesda dumbs down the base game in an attempt to appeal to the “ casual gamer”, then realizing the majority of people who buy the dlcs are more hardcore Fallout fans, they try appealing to them with the more traditional Fallout experience.

RadiumDragon I don’t think Bethesda is a horrible developer. They’re very capable of making great games, but they’ve started focusing too hard on making money instead of developing games with passion. Fallout 4 isn’t a terrible game. It’s actually pretty good. It’s just not a good Fallout game. The RPG mechanics have been watered down in an attempt to reach a broader audience ( casual gamers). Then came Fallout 76. A game almost nobody asked for. A game made with 0% passion and 100% greed. I blame Zenimax.

@@WarNvrChanges I agree, Fallout 4 is a good shooter, but not a Fallout game. As I said, someone else should have the IP since 4 and Fallout 76 happened. And Blaming Zenimax while ignoring Bethesda is why Fallout 76 happened. Fans would let anything under the sun fly simply because it said Bethesda on the box. No other developer gets that sort of leeway. Their quality has significantly suffered because people will buy any old crap they put out. It's not Zenimax telling them to re-release Skyrim with the original bugs from the fucking 2011 release.

You also missed one thing about the huge skull. There is two skull and rib cages much bigger than a normal skull on a anchor in a graveyard not far from ms azela. You should also do a video on the gnomes of far harbour. So many are found to be holding knives and there's a skeleton nearby or standing at the edge of the cliff and at the bottom is a skeleton, wheelchair and his hat and book and money. It would be very interesting if Bethesda is giving the legend of gnomes being alive and the evil beings their said to be some attention.

Seems similar to the mannequins. Alot of them are found just standing there like an scp or one of the angels from dr who. Theres even a boat underwater where the captain talks about hearing noise coming from the cargo hold where they were carrying all the mannequins in until the boat sinks and his body is found surrounded by them

Hey Nate! Found another secret you may not have known about in Boston. South of Andrew's station is a big red house called 'Hawthorne Estate' the name stood out to me from diamond city. Inside is the Ladies Auxiliary Holotape 5, and also Bobbi No Nose's body if you spared her at the end of that quest!

Its probably a reference to the Yautja from the Predator movies, they were known to take the skull & spines of humans as trophies for killing em, and in a lot of trophy scenes they'd hold them up like that or do some kind of pose. It obviously couldnt be a predator skeleton in the rock though because that would break lore.

I’m a little late and idk if you’ve done this yet or if it counts as a tiny fallout nuka world detail, but I just realized that Bethesda actually got pretty detailed with Cito and his Tarzan theme. In the letter from his mom by his bed it referenced the song made but Phil Collins used in the Tarzan movie. It’s called “you’ll be in my heart”. Now the letter says “we’ll be in his heart” but the concept is the same. Of course since the whole quest is Tarzan based I doubt it counts but it’s just something I found cool. I didn’t expect them to be that detailed about it!

I know many say the giant skull, holding a human skull and spine, is a reference to Predator. But maybe it is a giant from The Elder Scrolls, because it's a bit deep in the actual ground. And you have those weird Experimental plants that's obviously Nirnroot, and their name is even NRT-0001. Plus you can find a single plant of it on the Island. Just a fun thought and an interesting hypothetical connection ;-)

You can follow Longfellow all the way to Acadia run ahead of him before he gets to the fence and go inside and he will still give you the same dialogue as if you found it by yourself and you still get all the same dialogue from the trip as if you as if you went with him. I kind of accidentally done it on my second profile which is actually the one I'm on now. Yeah I didn't get a PlayStation 4 until this year so I'm just one of those broke ass people. Fun fact, as well as Vim being a direct reference to the favorite of my home state Moxie. Maine also enjoys sarsaparilla and in the downtown historic district in my town there's still a sarsaparilla advertisement on one of the buildings, the sarsaparilla up here has a more wintergreen flavor though. These also a lot of classic Maine small time brewery soda flavors like blueberry, they're all sodas my family really enjoys.

Ever since I heard about Far Harbor, I was like "this better not be Point Lookout Part 2: Bad Design Boogaloo". Now that I know how great FH is, I wonder if maybe its setting and tone weren't a bit of an apology to those who expected something not-awful from Point Lookout back in FO3?

Did you know if you take Nick to Acadia without Longfellow there opens a convo between Nick and DIMA about them being brothers. I think it adds an unmarked quest for Nick. Didn’t know if anybody knew that

The son is killed by a car passing on the road,dad buries son in cemetery that hold powers,people in the area commonly use it to bring back just pets,with a bit of evil in them from crossing to the other side,son ,being just around 5,comes back with same evil as pets,goes on a killing spree,killing Herman Munster,whom is the friendly old man that lives across the street...that is a 40,000 foot overview of SK's Pet Cemetery...

One thing that I can say is that far Harbor has an exceptional amount of attention to detail... I was born and raised in Bar Harbor and have drank Moxie soda since I was a child.... there were so many visual places that I have personally seen that were recreated in Far Harbor that were done immaculately to where if you walked into these areas in real life through Maine and it was foggy enough which it does get quite often you would think you were in the game... and they definitely have it down correctly with vimm versus Coca-Cola because even to this day Moxie is still purchasable more than Coca-Cola in areas of Maine
