Revealing who dropped the bombs shows a complete misunderstanding of why the fallout games never explicitly tell you. It's because it doesn't matter. All parties are liable in the great war due to being a part of it. By not only revealing who dropped the bombs but making it a really boring ans generic "Evil corporation" cliche the writers not only show a complete lack of understanding of the source materials subtext, but also do it in the most boring and least nuanced way. Even if you were interested in the question of who dropped the bombs you have to admit it's a bad way of handling it
For one thing, they only implied that they were going to start it. There is no guarantee that they did and even if they did, it’s been a fan theory forever. That they started the war. Not China I’ve always believed they did years ago tbh so this would just confirm it
the only thing that is 100% confirmed is that they bombed shady sands, talking about doing it in a meeting doesn't mean they eventually did trigger the war in 2077
It's pretty obvious with all gathered lore the chinese struck first after their invasion of anchorage failed. The introduction of power armor to the war completely tipped the odds in america's favor
they dont hate new vegas...they have an ex ranger in the show...the kid the ghoul kills his father is an ex ranger from his past they show roman costumes on the hollywood set pre war walking around behind coop hinting at caesers legions they show you new vegas at the very end of the show ffs
@@JohnSmith-pj6wbHaving an ex-ranger or The Strip in the show, or Bethesda having New Vegas merch, or Bethesda referencing New Vegas lore doesn't mean they don't hate it or the originals. They blew up Shady Sands ffs the heart of the NCR. Why? Because "wife ran away and took the kids so I nuked the whole settlement". Chris Avellone has said he never got the idea that Bethesda liked the reception New Vegas got for being called the best Fallout.
Listen the love for the ncr is so big that it probely comes back not only that they dumb bc bethesda wants to make al games non canon an start over fress so fallout 76 then 3 then 4 and then show 1 2 and vegas gonna be gone sooner then u can say blanco mac and cheese
How does this remove new Vegas from canon? This was set 20 year after new Vegas and Mr house himself talks about being one of the wealthy elite. New Vegas became independent at the end of the game and if you decided to not kill Mr house there’s a possibility he’s still alive as well (that’s the beauty of a rpg game, there’s several different canon versions)
It removes New Vegas from canon by establishing that Shady Sands was nuked 4 years before the events of the game (and yes, it was nuked in 2277, watch the scene with the library book). If one of the three primary factions involved in the core conflict of that game was decapitated 4 years prior to it, it makes no sense.
@kvant13 Actaul you really need to look at the time like shady sand and the original bombing happen at different time also they the actor and the game dev even stated that new vegas and the show are canon.
@@Regulativeconclusions It removes the game from canon by establishing that one of the primary driving factions in New Vegas was decapitated and presumably collapsed four years before the game's events. I don't know how to spell this out any clearer - if you can't see how that completely fucks up FNV's entire core driving conflict, I don't know what to tell you. I don't think this was intentional, mind you, I think they just didn't really care.
They did not retcon New Vegas. That timeline on the chalk board did not say 2277 is when shady sands was bombed, it said the collapse of shady sands happen in 2277 then pointed to the bomb indicating it happen afterwards. Also the NCR took control of the Dam in 2277, so even if you misconstrue the timeline it's feasible that in 2281 when New Vegas takes place that the NCR in the dam/new vegas were too preoccupied with the front lines to get word back to shady sands and there's dialog indicating they couldn't get more troops from HQ. However like I said you have your timeline wrong, we don't know when shady sands was bombed, we know it's collapse happen in 2277 then it was bombed. It's really frustrating to see so many people ignorantly comment about this as if they've got their facts straight.
Very convenient no single NCR related person ever tells you about a societal collapse and the following destruction of their very own capital in New Vegas. I think, to quote two (in-)famous showwriters, they "just forgot".
@@anatolystepanovichdyatlov1747 It's fallout, they only have radios as coms, without proper infrastructure these guys cannot get word back to shady sands. Like I said, they were prioritized with the dam, and new vegas the front lines. Just like in history, the lack of immediate coms dictates everything unlike our modern times. They didn't forget, Bethesda has retconned things before but specifically this show did none of that besides the gulper biology change.
@@CaptainBuggyTheClown No clue if you know about morse code. But lets say they dont even have radios... Shady sands would be halfway between Los Angeles and Las Vegas. That is ~135 miles. Youd send multiple couriers on foot using different routes and the info is there in less than a week. It's not complicated.
@@CaptainBuggyTheClown "They only have radio". With the distance between New Vegas, the Hub, and Shady Sands, you need only 1 decent radio tower in each location to get news across NCR in a single day. This show absolutely retcons lore from Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas. NCR has almost a million citizens by 2281. The Western Brotherhood is being sieged by it. Sorry, but even the best case scenario for the Eastern BoS doesn't put the entire thing where the show portays it to be. Whoever wrote the show doesn't understand what Fallout is about, just like Bethesda doesn't. It's post post-apocalypse. It's about humanity rebuilding after the nuclear holocaust.
"duh..duh...just don't think about it bro, it's based on a vidya game, don't have any expectations...herp...derp" is all I get any time I try to bring any of this up.
@@Kingpincognito Oh no you can dislike stuff, but having a sperg fit about lore is embarrassing considering fallout has contradicted itself so much already, and even then the "contradictions" in the show can be explained away fairly easily. It's not a perfect show by any means.
Keep in mind if the NCR won Vegas would be dark as all the power would have been diverted from Vegas. Also if the Legion won same thing. Only way for Vegas to have power is if House wins. Also it’s 15 years after New Vegas so anything is possible.
My take on this is: let's introduce an important character and location from a game we didnt write in the very last episode, so all the nerds discuss this ad infinitum and afterall the next game will sell better. Whoever leads Bathesda's marketing currently did a great pitch during the related meeting.
"They ruined everything by revealing Vault-Tec dropped rhe bombs! You weren't supposed to know!' Every single game except Wasteland and Fallout 1 had references to Vault Tec being responsible. It was always there.
they hint at 3 things from new vegas...the kid the ghoul kills his father is an ex ranger...they have roman costumes on the set pre war walking around hinting at caesers legion and they show new vegas at the very end of the show :)
Everything you just said was wrong lol. Literally no one at Bethesda said New Vegas wasn't canon so that entire part of your rant doesn't mean anything. Same with your Brotherhood rant. No one said Cleric was the new Elder rank. You literally just made that up. Mr. House is not part of Vault-Tec, he was just invited to that specific meeting. And just because other locations/factions aren't mentioned doesn't mean they're erased from canon. What a stupid assumption to make. And the whole Power Armor thing is not a retcon. The Ghoul literally says it was a flaw in the welding for the T-45 and T-60 power armors specifically. They never said it was a flaw with all power armors. God dude its like you watched the show on mute.
The nuke happened AFTER the fall of shady sands in 2277, there's an arrow between the text and mushroom cloud. The fall is likely just a decline in the city's importance, we know the NCR was spread thin and in bad shape during New Vegas. Thats an explanation someone on reddit gave. Will this help?
Very convenient, every single NCR related character forgot it might be worthy mentioning the destruction of their very own capital. And the premise of NV being they are able to defend the Colorado against the Legion.
@@anatolystepanovichdyatlov1747 they are able to an extent even tho certain areas need help in. They have to defend it since it's all they got after Shady Sands went boom to high hell raising more desperation from the NCR to keep things tight if they are to survive. Sure because holding down that place prevented undercover assassins and Vertabird bombs from occurring on a presidential speech. Did we forget that you can nuke em in lonesome road? And did we also forget camp searchlight as an incident too?
@@anatolystepanovichdyatlov1747The population of Shady Sands is a tiny tiny fraction compared to the NCR haha It is also stated as the “first capital”, there could have been a new one established.
Doesn't mean its not longer cannon, could be they just don't know, could be something else happened, or house was lying, or he started the war because it was bound to happen. It could still work.
@@arthurd.8766 in the show it explains it as, he was part of a group (its the same in the games) that use the apocalypse as a way of playing a game with one another. It doesn't out right express that he has a problem with any of this but he doesn't aid too much in the creation. Its also been known that vault tec along with many other groups were "probably" responsible for the bombs dropping. Also, the second season its going to be in New Vegas seemingly.
Now I get why they came to Vegas in the first place 😅 Cause they lost their land to a divide level exploration, also remember lonesome road came out and showed why NCR had less numbers and they are a consistent dead npc you find in Nee vegas
is this suprising? nah... remember the studio that made new vegas is different from 3 and 4 and 76, and obviously since tom howard was involved then they're going to go with the bathesda version or whatever story bathesda approves.... There were talks of the new vegas studio making a new fallout game but i think it was just talk.
theory: there is one explaination that solves the mystery of the fate of ncr and new vegas A TIME MACHINE WHO BUILD IT? THE INSTITUTE AND THE ENCLAVE!! he who controls the time machine controls the destiny of the future of humanity think about it
I understand what your trying to say, Friend. The more I learn about the fallout show, the less it make sense why it's getting praised, as how childish and insanely foolish the writing is. My only reason why many jump to like it, is simply because "it look like fallout, so it's good" without thinking much after, it's as face valued as you can get and it honestly concerns me how people keep falling for this trap.
If you think about It House being Involved makes total sense....since he would be the only Robotics/Advanced science industry left having that leverage and power would allow him to rebuild in "HIS" image something he's very open about in NV, and it explains his distrust and hatred for the NCR....I always wondered why a cunning opportunist like himself wouldn't trust/fully align himself with people who were trying to bring law and order back to the wasteland and now we know why, because its not 'HIS' people doing it "HIS" way.
@@-gemberkoekje-5547 House was present at the meeting with Vault Tec, West Tec, Big MT etc when VT announced they plan the drop the bombs themselves, but in NV House states he calculated that a nuclear exchange was inevitable and he doesn't mention this meeting to The Courier?
@@mainthrowaway Likely he silently did not agree to it, but didn't want to make an enemy of the most powerfull organisations of America, so he stopped attending these meetings after this first proposal. He then suspected they might go through with it. Telling people he attended this meeting might paint him in a bad light to people. But dont get it wrong, Mr.house is not a good person either.
I don’t recall them retconning new Vegas. House really never was a hero, he was always self interested. To quote him in the game “I knew I could not save the world, nor did I care to.” I’d be willing to bet he could have done something despite his claim he couldn’t, but House is self interested, a fact he will admit to. He saw the end of the world as an opportunity to mold humanity in the ways he wanted it shaped.
they retconned New Vegas and the whole lore , to fans of the games , Destroying a Big Pieace of the story makes everything else not even worth watching
Everyone should remember that they made a great deal of mistakes with the Lore throughout the titles and applying all of them mistakes to a new project would just be foolish
I had high hopes but this is full of millenial "humor" that hasnt been funny since 2010. Sad to see adaptations handled this way when we know they can write a co.pelling story if they want to.
I don’t know who’s more annoying this kid or the comments. Mr House very clearly doesn’t go along with their plan. Of course they would keep the walls why would they get rid of them. The NCR will be back I guarantee it but some people just want to hate
I agree that it’s bad, but the way they’re treating the first two games is worse. It’s the foundational basis for the entire series and they’re just openly disregarding it. It’s gross.
Every other Fallout fan - this shows great and does the games justice. Rage Baiters and Attention Seeker - lets be a contrarian over this today. People like you ruin fandoms with your expectations, director stated he loved the games but said he has to make it slighlty accessible. A show like Halo that completely destroys characters and canon is an example of destroying lore yet your gonna whine about Fallout. I bet thats all you do all day, look very hard for shit to complain about. Total Incel Energy.
