Bethesda never bothered to read Fallout lore. Nuka Cola is basically Coke or Pepsi, but blended with a variety of seven fruit juices. Passion fruit being one of the seven, ended up being over consumed by the corporation leading to a famine of that particular fruit.

To be fair, trying to find the one spice you need from the wall of McCormick can be difficult. Took me 10 mins of staring last Thanksgiving to find celery seed that was at floor level for some reason.

Um guys you don't use teriyaki sauce you use browning sauce. Like this, Grace Browning A versatile ingredient for baking and cooking, Grace Browning combines water, caramel and salt, with a small amount of sodium benzoate as a preservative, to bring the sweet crispness of caramel to your favorite dishes. (4.8 oz.) Will taste a whole lot better then what you made.

Hi liked your vid, strange that those exotic ingredients where hard to find as over here in England you can get them in any supermarket's herb/spice section. Plus very odd that this uses cardamom pods as thats usually used in curries. Also I think if you want to next time not have the flavour of this drink tainted with a terriyaki taste, you would be better off getting a black food colouring dye from a store's cake baking section as they are flavourless.

I was able to find most of the spices at a local market near my place, the Star Anise was harder to find, as was the citric acid we needed for the Quantum recipe. A lot of people working at the shops hadn't even heard of some of the ingredients before.

Nuka-Cola actually TASTEs GOOD, youve bought WRONG browning SAUCE. Gravy Master contains soy, corn protein, vinegar and spices but you should use browning sauce for cakes - which contains only caramel, salt and preservatives.

So you guys know, Gravy Master is NOT browning sauce. That's why the taste was off; you literally dumped a bunch of extra gravy/stew spices into it. You need to consider the difference between a Browning Sauce, and a Browning AND Seasoning Sauce like Gravy Master. Real browning sauce contains just two ingredients; brown sugar, and water. That's it. It's literally brown sugar syrup made by melting the sugar on a stove top and then adding water to stretch it. You basically poured a quarter cup of teriyaki sauce in your soda syrup.

I once read somewhere once upon a time that the real life recipe for Nuka-Cola was 1/3rd part Cream Soda 1/3rd part Coka-Cola 1/3rd part Mountain Dew 1/3rd part Uranium I've been drinking that for the past 5 year saying its Nuka and now this cookbook has crushed mt dreams XD (Don't ask me how that math works I read this on the internet.)

It's not technically canon but for years before the cookbook was ever even theorized; fans actually made a recipe for Nuka Cola that I love and make all the time. Its equal parts, Mountain Dew, Cream Soda, and Coca-Cola. My only gripe is the Cream soda flavor is a little overbearing but you can tweak that if you want. Honestly that's the superior Nuka Cola recipe and it wont taste like teriyaki sauce trust me. It's super delicious

would have probably been absolutely delicious if the recipe just left out the gravy master! i used to experiment a lot a while back when i brewed beer and made wines, homemade ginger ale, meads, absinthe etc. for this one: all the ingredients jived with me and i've seen them before in recipes except the fucking gravy master LMFAO. do as thou wilt, but seriously, if there is any ingredient that is added just for coloration, always always always leave it out.

Dude, that was awesome! I'd love to see more. I can't help but blame the brand of coloring for making it teriyaki'd up so much. A different, non-gravy brand may have worked better, but it's not like caramel coloring is something you just pop down to the local store and pick up.

Get a coke bottle empty .clean it .then put The 5 of your Nuka cola mix then seltzer water the rest of the way .then refrigerate till cold .just a thought this.thrre has to also be something other than gravy master you can use for color lmao

My own experience: the longer you let it sit, the less "teriyaki" it comes out. Alternatively, use molasses instead of the browning sauce. Sweeter, though, so your mileage may vary.

There’s different types of measuring cups. There’s liquid measuring cups and solid measuring cups. That’s why you used so much sugar because you guys where using the wrong type of cup.

The ingredients were hard to find because these guys have never stepped foot in a kitchen. The blonde said he would hang the star anise in his car, if he had one. I'm not defending Bethesda. Still not done with shooting themselves in the foot with a minigun. But what I am saying is these guys have a much culinary knowledge as UberEats.

When I was younger I had this neighbor who was obsessed with fallout and made his own nuka cola, printed his own labels and caps and would give me a few bottles every blue moon. It was really good actually, absolutely horrible for you though because of how much sugar was in it but still pretty cool!

you need to toast your spices in that pot before adding the water then sugar. it brings the spices to life and I gives it that beautiful aromatic flavor. only toast them until you smell it. med heat for a couple minutes should do it. when you zest it has to be a gentle thing. you dont want the meat of the skin going in. the white part is bitter. also, when making a syrup or caramel you dont want to over stir. the sugar will dissolve. you can crystallize it if you over due it. maybe use less gravy master. I bet that's the teriyaki flavor your tasting.

The Quantum episode is just the syrup reduced to half the size, doubled up, and dyed with Blue 1 food coloring. Don't forget the heaping dose of Strontium 90 for that bone cancer-riffic taste!

Should have used brown food colouring instead of the gravy master because gravy master has extra things to make gravy taste better. Not nice in cola

The problem was the gravy master, that is not the browning sauce that was meant, that is for gravy it has many spices in it and even soy, browning sauce is just caramelized brown sugar that is all so it added too many spices and even soy to the mix.
