You can really feel the love for Dragon Ball from some of these mangaka. Masashi Kishimoto for example is a huge fanboy, I remember in his studio where he used to draw Naruto he had a giant Frieza statue.
Oda created Luffy inspired in Goku, and in his mind they have the same face, i think that if he drew them in Toryama's or any other style they would have the same face too
Gotta give Oda credit that he took time out of his ungodly work schedule to draw that cool little Yamcha piece. Really shows how much he loves the series.
@@thosebloodybadgers8499 Alright, maggots. Listen up. Popo's about to teach you the Pecking Order. It goes: you, the dirt, the worms inside of the dirt, Popo's stool, Kami, then Popo. Any questions?
I absolutely adored the Hunter x Hunter guy's tribute with the creepy kid goku. To me it seemed the drawing was being humorous in nature, and I feel it really pulled it off. It's like we're looking at kid goku from the perspective of a foughter enemy.
@@forgottenrelics1197 yeah cause if your just hanging around doing your job at the red ribbon army, your not gonna see goku as a goofy, happy go-lucky kid. You'd see a deranged psychopath killing all your friends with his god-like super powers.
That's a great topic, I've always quite liked legends art and I was considering doing a video on Dbz Kakarots art style as it took a lot of inspiration from Toriyamas illustrations so that could make an interesting video.
Yusuke Murata is my favorite artist of all time. From the beginning of Eyeshield21 to One Punch Man, the evolution of this man's Artwork is INSANE! Even if you don't do a video about him, as a lover of Manga you should check him out. He is good at drawing character's in different art styles while at the same time keeping them consistent and cohesive.
The more you keeps looking at Luffy Goku in the thumbnail, the more you feel he would appear in the darkness of your room and stab you several times with a knife. 😨
I'd look forward to your Tite Kubo video and thank you for shout out! I'll Definately use your # tab as id love a shout out! Also, could you do a video on Kazushi Hagiwara, Masakazu Katsura, and Oh! Great?
Thank you! And I'll definitely have to do one on Masakazu Katsura, I havn't read Zetman yet but I loved the tribute piece he did for dragon ball as well as his artwork in Jiya.
@@forgottenrelics1197 Yeah I thought you would like that! I'm a huge fan of Katsura! Also, in an English translated special subscription issue of Shonen Jump, it interviews Katsura and Toriyama on their collaboration manga; where Toriyama states that Katsura is the master of drawing ladies butt cheeks! Considering his works on DNA2, IS'' and Video Girl Ai, that is no exaggeration!
"Known for Rurouni Kenshin and his prison sentence" lol.. Great video, I love your analysis as always. Tbh though I wasn't a fan of how you would move the camera through the pictures before showing them. With the Murata artwork I was hoping you'd show it in its full size for longer than a second. But yeah loved seeing these pieces.
I love seeing artists give their take on other creators work and I’m so glad you cover these pieces. Some of these I never even saw. This series is awesome! Subscribed.
Okay yo the One Punch Man artist is absolutely sick. OPM already looks really well done in general, but holy hell the man can do any style. The second season of the anime really did him dirty. ._.
She did do one recently. She drew Vegeta, Bulma, Future Trunks, and baby bulla She basically drew the characters in her style with the white dots in the big jagged black eyes. Bulma looked the best but Vegeta just looked weird
I don't think that would work. His art is amazing, easily one of the best mangaka imo. But it doesn't suit Dragon Ball to me. Dragon Ball's manga art is supposed to be relatively simple and not too overly detailed. That's why Toyotaro was the best choice for me
Yeah man that was an insanely cool pic, thanks for reminding me of it in general! Although I was choosing art solely from the Dragon Ball: Super History Book and I don't believe that was part of it therefore that's why it wasn't included :)
Unpopular opinion, but I actually really like the MHA take on Goku. I always wondered what he'd look like if he appeared in their world, and the mangaka nailed it perfectly. Would be very interesting imo to see a DB X MHA crossover where some MHA characters go into the DB world and are drawn and animated in the DBS Broly Shintani style and some DB characters go over to the MHA world and are drawn in that style
I'm sure they all could sit down and make a to model goku if they really wanted. The differences might be uncanny for some, but it shows it's about more than just drawing a goku.
I think if you made videos on different series it will eventually spread out, it’d be bad if you burn out by just doing dbz content. Or cage yourself like that, make whatever you want broski
If you're concerned with longer videos, you could also cut down on the amount of times you mention being concerned about longer videos and probably shave off 1-2min right there.
This was mostly about the 30th anniversary tributes. But thanks for mentioning that one though because I have never seen it before now and it looks outstanding!
@@mathieul4303 are you saying Hirohiko Araki can't draw muscles and shading?? Have you even seen jojo? Especially parts 7 and 8 where his arts style became much more realistic.
@@ms.antithesis Dude, if I'm saying, it means I'm up to date with Jojo. The artstyle is pretty ugly nowadays. Same face syndrome, skinny characters etc... He doesn't draw buff characters like part 2/3.
@@mathieul4303 i don't think the faces where ever ugly, except in parts of part 6 due to him being rushed at points. i still think part's 7 and 8 are masterclass, and parts 1-6 are some of the best things jump had ever seem. his faces might not be his strong point, and yes they sometimes come off as a bit ugly in some panels, but it's still amazing. part 1 is janky but unique, which fades into the less buff but more pointy parts 1 and 3. and then early pat 4 is peak angles, going into the more realistic proportions of mid- late part 4, and parts 5-6 then finally transforming into the realistic and stylish art of the most recent parts 7 and the soon to be concluded 8. personally i love the modern style, and whilst it might have peaked some time in mid part 7. his art is still absolutely amazing at best, and just a bit messy at worse. On the other and toriyama has developed the opposite problem, all his characters look stiff and plasticy.
@@mathieul4303 also i'm pretty sure araki has always had same face syndrome, like, if you take all the clothes and hair off of the part 3 cast they all look the same. besides like iggy. also like, i ado sort of agree that parts 5-8 havea bit of same face syndrome, but why do the faces even need to look ddestinct when the designs are soo good otherwise.
