At Özkonak Pudding Shop, heaven is a place on Earth. Here, you can eat chicken for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert (yes, even dessert). Tavuk göğsü, aka “chicken breast pudding,” is a sweet Turkish delicacy dating way back to the Ottoman Empire. And, no one knows the recipe quite like Mahmut Tak, master chef and second-generation owner of Özkonak Pudding Shop. Having kept his family’s signature dish alive for so many years, he hopes to continue to spread the love for this delicious, nutritious, Turkish treat.

I actually went there when I was there: god GOD it was amazing. They also had this dessert called Kazandibi that looks like Tavukgogsu, but has a sort of shell on top! Both were amazing, and the owner was there too! Really nice guy! :)

Yep it is kazandibi made from tavuk göğsü. It is same dessert just caramalized on top. Makes it even better.

I ate this for years as a child never knowing that there is actually chicken in it. I always thought it named that way because of its texture, color, and consistency. My mind was blown when my mom cooked it at home one day; thus learning that there is actually chicken in it. Great dessert, definitely should try if you ever visit Turkey

This is in fact really common in Turkey. But it is helluva hard one to make so you gotta find a good place to eat it. It is by far my fav milky dessert.

It may seem fowl to you but I wouldnt turn it down if it was phesanted to me. I'm a good egg and no chicken when it comes to trying new cuisines. But it would be a birden to fly to Istanbul anyway. It would be nice to meet some exotic chicks though. Rooster.

array s its sweet. Chicken doesent taste like chicken in it. They dont salt the chicken as they boil it. As i said it doesent feel weird

I've had this when I visited Turkey and at first I thought it was a sort of rice pudding. Then I figured out it was made of chicken white meat. It's really good.

such a warm feeling to see a video on this channel from my home country for the first time :) I'd definitely recommend to try some tavuk gogsu when you're in Turkey! you can barely taste chicken, it's so subtle that many people say they thought it did not actually have chicken when they were little lol

@@king.kthebest6158 as a turk, i can say no one is getting murdered (also kurds had more rights after 2005 "Kurdish Right Ascension"). But the problems about "not to respect the perspective of others" situation is sadly, true. The ideology disagreements are less these days but the economical, productional, heavy industrial, and goverment's policy about this things are problem in Turkey. All political parties in each others throat.

I've tried it! One might think it will taste gamy and disgusting... And yet... It has a delicate pudding flavour with an uncanny stretchiness that resembles melted cheese from a good pizza or lasagnia!! A wondrous desert.🤤

I am from Turkey and ı love this dessert . If u find it wierd , actually the taste of ''Tavuk Göğsü'' like vanilla puding . But a little flexible. And u cant realise the chicken meat when u taste it . Also Tavuk Göğsü include more protein then other desserts :)

One of my favourite restaurants in Istanbul. Very humble, affordable and delicious place. I recommend chicken soup, and etli yaprak sarmasi (mince rolled with leaf) aside from the desserts.

Until the 19th century you could find recipes for "blancmange" in Portuguese and Brazilian cookbooks. It was really popular, and it was made exactly this way. Nowadays, in Brazil, it's more like a custard pudding made with coconut milk, cow milk, sugar and cornstarch, with a dried plum syrup covering it, and no chicken. But in Portugal they still keep the very old tradition.

This reminds me of a really similar Iranian dish named “Haleem”! It looks just like the ‘pudding’ in this video except we use turkey meat.

No, they boil chicken breast for soooooo long and change its water multiple times during the process thus it loses its gelatin and smell and then add it to the dessert.
