I'm a long term Celestion user. I have some really cool vintage Celestions that sound ace... However, well let's just say I paid a visit to the Fane website...
How did you like the Fane compared to the Stealth 65? I like the fatness of the Fane in this video; I've got the Jensen Jet Tornado 100 which I like a lot!
What a coincidence, I am looking to switch my V30 and was looking into exactly these two speakers. How do the f70 and stealth 65 compare, say for distorted tone?
The Fane sounds so smooth but very clear, the Celestion has all the cut in the world, but has that grit and sizzle texture that Celestion is known for. A real love-it or hate-it proposition.
I think this confirms what I've been considering to use with my new Hamstead Artist head. A 212 cab with one of each. Hopefully a beautiful balance. Nice demo. Thanks
F70 all the way. Tried with headphones, flat response speakers, laptop speakers... No contest. So natural, punchy and wide sounding. I am not a fan of them but wow.
Hi, i think the F70 stands better in the mix. With more clarity, and somehow cleans some unwanted (sometimes) frequencies from Celestion. Thanks for this Great DEMO.!
Good demo. Hard to pick a clear winner as my preference changed depending on the passage. That said, generally I thought the F70 was better for chords and rhythm whereas the V30 has that famed pronounced upper midrange that allows lead work to pop out of the mix.
Two very differently voiced speakers so comparison not as relevant as personal requirements but I must say i like the clarity and vivid colour palette of the Fane.
Well done shootout. The subtle differences are easily detected with each musical passage. Both are great speakers in isolation, wonder how well a V30/F70 set would pair together?
Wow those Fanes are incredible. I wonder how they’d do in a cab with the V30s. I’m about to build a Hiwatt replica cab, and I have some 90s V30s that I tend to like mixed with another speaker. These are a contender for sure.
@@SCOTT-ki3ve sorry 10 months late but no I scored a V4 cab super cheap and loaded it with blackbacks and creambacks. But I do intend to build a couple cabs at some point
@@samwilcockmusic Ahh yes, that is a very good idea. I'll have to try it and upload some video demos of gear once I get my strat wired and soldered up. One I could make is a V30 vs. WGS Retro 30 comparison with my soldano astroverb.
After hearing this, I'm thinking of throwing my set of British Celestion V30s in the trash.....holy crap. Just bought a pair of Fane F70s for a Hiwatt cab restoration, looks like I need to buy more....
I think the F70 is a slightly a bit crisper sounding, but I think they sound very similar, maybe the V30 a little more punch and I like that, but I would go with which one is cheaper if I didn't have a lot to spend.
Ron Carter I think Celestions are still great value for money. The Fane stuff is more expensive but I love that F70! Worth noting that I had to return one though as the diaphragm collapsed. I've never had an issue with Celestions, but I'm sure the odd bad one sneaks through.
The Fane definitely sounds better on the clean Strat. The distorted tones show the limitations of shootouts. I thought that the V-30 cut through better, but that the Fane had all the frequencies you need. Bump up the treble and cut just a little bit of bass, and the Fane would have sounded as good as the V-30.
