The Malice at the Palace definitely changed how the NBA handles fan and player interaction during games. It was almost 20 years ago but it still has an impact.
that was as much the fans as it was players clear as day. THese are all people generally sitting in their seats enjoying a game & cheering on their team & cheering when the other team especially star like lebron misses or gets blocked. The idea that each of these fans especially when lebron tossed them really said anything offensive or inappropriate or rude is highly unlikely. And more then a few have been later proven to have been nothing. Its one thing to say something offensive or throw things or celebrate your opposite twisting their ankle or being hurt but its rarely ever that. Grow up & relax names don't mean anything. It's just words even offessive ones. Now if it's saying things about someone close to the player who died or is very sick by all means kick them out. But seriously there's a few of these it's clear nothing really was wrong but the people were kicked anyways. Its ridiculous.
@Coz McDebris The fans don't pay their salary, the franchise owner does. And if you think that being paid means that the customer can disrespect you on the job, then your parents probably didn't teach you any manners
@@kerbygator you must not be well, if your boss insults your mother and entire family… fuck your feelings also, if he threatens them ( as they do players families) fuck your feelings too i guess and with that for some cash you’ll actually let someone fuck them too literally
Runnerup5676 ok so just because rondo put his finger at the guy face that give the guy the right to hit rondo hell nah u still can't touch a NBA player don't matter if they argue with u or whatever
@@jacobladringan4426 I got Shit To Live For I'm trying to get some money chillin get my mom out the hood I ain't risking that for nobody I'm trying make my dead bro proud
i find it insane that fans pay money to go to an NBA game with the intent to get themselves banned from an arena for arguing or throwing stuff at the players. especially the fans courtside. thats 2k a ticket
I gotta agree with you that players are soft today compared to back in the days but fans be running their mouths...if you talk crazy you better keep that same energy when someone pull up on you wanting the smoke. Some of these fans need to get their wigs split 👊🏽💪🏾
@markj66132 lol that's not the point...so by your logic, if I'm your boss at your job and I'm paying you × salary amount, that gives me the right to verbally abuse you because I'm the one paying you so you gotta do as I say. Just because a fan pays for a ticket doesn't give them the right to abuse the athletes. If you start problems, know that there's consequences. You play dumb games win dumb prizes.
@f0rumrr Could still happen. Fans like to run their mouths when they've drunk a little, and players have a short fuse. Al it takes is for a player to really jump to the occasion
@@Hargazer Sure it could happen again but that guy, great defender lost it was like its war, he was provoked and i think the nba learned a lot. rabid fans, get the fuck out.
Actually, from the '40s through the '70s, fights that involved fans against players, coaches, and/or officials were not that uncommon (one notable example happened in Game 3 of the 1977 playoffs between the Warriors and Pistons, back when Detroit was in the Western Conference), and even a few times in the '80s.
I’ve noticed they really kiss the players asses behind their mics, no matter how childish and stupid they act. Lebron needs his therapist on site to deal with his princess drama.
Larry bird the greatest, countless stories of fans talking and he just tells them where he is going to sink his next shot (in their face) while telling the defender the same thing lmao
Fans getting kicked out for nothing other than speaking, yelling, taunting, or cussing is ridiculous. A lot of players are extremely sensitive and overreact over words.
@Torrence Grant I understand, but it's just words from idiots. I just think players shouldn't let it bother them so much. Fans should be allowed to speak without threat of being thrown out no matter what stupidity comes out of their mouths.
i have never felt so proud watching lakers vs bucks last night. the entire big 3 playing well. and we COMING FOR THE CHIP count us out but check the table we arent that far off your favourite team
These kinds of videos always leave me with lots of questions. There are some where it's clear what happened, but there are a lot where I'm just left wondering.
@Mark After Ron Artest went after the wrong person and started beating the shit out of a random fan during Malice at the Palace, how can you blame them for not wanting to get attacked or thrown out?
@Mark getting physical goes beyond heckling. If it’s just words then the players can defend themselves mentally. You poor a drink over someone’s head as they’re walking out? That’s a different story
Is there any background to 8:17? Out of context it looks extremely disrespectful for the player to pretend like he's holding a gun at the fan, so I'm assuming there is context before that like trash talking?
8:15, despite what the fan was doing to #4, #4 was doing a "gun" thing to the fan which was why the fan slapped his hand away. NBA players are people not GODS, they don't get their feelings hurt being paid millions of dollars a year just to shoot basketball, #4 should have been fined for pulling the "gun" stunt.
The true side of these cartel protected, so-called "stars." Rondo gesturing a gun in a fans face, Chris Paul willing to fight a child, the other player grabbing a fans phone and throwing it with no repercussions is just pathetic..
I like how they interact with each other, I guess some comments are very unnecessary but the general is great when people make known what they feel and think and also the player.
@@kaya856lmao, I grew up playing hockey in small town Canada. Grown ass men in the stands would legit try and fight teenage players (and sometimes did) and fans spent all game screaming at your bench from 2 feet away. Stop acting like NBA players are dodging gunfire and shit 😂
1:09 Bridges, aimlessly winging his mouthpiece and having it hit that innocent girl, totally unacceptable. It looked like it ricocheted and hit her left eye.😠
Man it's not hard to get thrown out of one of these games is it? Some were pretty well deserved, but a couple other ones fell into the "wait, seriously?" category... Hope some of those people in the more questionable kickouts at least got their money back. That's really fucked up to throw a fan out of a game they paid a shitload of money for unless they do something completely out of line, then I totally get it.
Very often the NBA players are doing worse things and provoking the confrontation, yet the fans involved always get punished - sometimes in the clips shown in this video the fans deserve the punishment - other times the players deserve the punishment
But that's a fucking retarded thing to say especially when we know what fans be saying especially in cities like Boston, Salt Lake City, Phoenix, etc... The things fans be doing they only be doing because it's never a one on one situation... Most fans would be quiet as a church mouse if their words was played back to the players
I love melos response. He doesn't get all bent out of shape like Westbrook he just tells the fan I hear you now keep it cool. Take a note Westbrook that's how you respond to hecklers!
Folks dont realize that these athletes have families and are real people. You wouldn't want a walmart employee talking crap to you while you shop. Entitled folks are so shallow... On the low trying to get a free payday.
It’s not just in basketball. Hockey, baseball, football. All sports man. They’re athletes they know they’re going to get heckled. Shoot officers and first responders and military get told a lot worse on the daily basis and they still keep their cool. They have no excuse.
@Mark they just kept playing because they were playing in the 50s and 60s. They didn't "just keep playing" because they were okay with it they kept playing because they didn't have a choice and it wasn't safe for a black person to try to speak out or backtalk in those days. Guarantee if they were playing today they would have said shut the fuck up at least once. This is why other races have to stop trying to speak on the "black experience" because you're completely clueless
@@hunterterry7341 It's worse than that. I used to be in EMS and I can tell that you most providers don't want to press charges when they're assaulted. It's talked about a little in the community but not enough. Meanwhile, NBA players can assault people and behave like middle schoolers and they're never held criminally responsible. It's horseshit.
@Mark Nope. You're wrong dude. You sound stupid. There was literally video footage of fans looking at Kevin clapping and cheering when he got up limping. The replay showed the raptor and warriors players reacting to it. There's literally video footage dude. Look it up yourself. Such a coward. It's ok to be wrong dude. So dumb
Its funny how NBA uphold their rules on the basketball court, where players are "can do anything Gods" and fans are treated like shit. You let Nurkic smashing the phone out of the fans hand (which is personal belonging and its an assault in 99% off the basketball court cases by the way) ,you let punk Rondo standing in front of the fan pointing a finger into his face representing a gun ,but you threw fans just for saying something to a player...
What could that bucks fan have possibly said to Klay to get him thrown out? The guy talking to westbrook at the beginning of the video did more smh even Giannis is like what did he even do ? KLAY is a SOFT
Kinda funny you don't know what he said to Klay but calling Klay Soft 🤣🤣🤣 And how you know What Giannis expression is about What the interaction klay had with that fan. Mate don't judge shit you don't know about
Bruh are ya high or smt? If u got ejected and a fan just take a photo right in yo face and u just let it slide thats a diff lvl of disrespect its like letting a guy step on your face a shameless fans like you dont understand what is going on with a player so plss juat shut yo mouth
There's a line fans shouldn't cross and when they do then they loose the right to be a fan that night, at least in person. They are fortunate that some of them don't get punched, as a fan, I'd like to see it!
8:25 the commentators make It seem like these sports players are superheroes and are always right, if u a fan u got the right to say whatever u want as long as it ain’t a threat, or profanity. The thing is he swiped rondo’s hand but like he put his hand in his face. If it was HighSchool, nobody would cause a big deal. It’s just the NBA, a level up from college. It’s cool to have trash talk etc if u trying to get under the other team’s skin. So like the fan was wrong only because he touched rondo first
Basketball has the worst fans of any major sport. They are so entitled to these players and honestly they shouldn’t let them sit that close to them. The players should sue them honestly. It is never ok to harass someone just because you paid for a ticket. And those fans feel safe because of security. They would get beat down in real time/life.
I think that it is wrong for fans shouldn't trash talk NBA players from different teams that way. I think that fans should respect and show kindness to NBA players while they come to games
