When I see you guys I think of my great grandma and how she came to Idaho and started a home stead. Hatch Idaho is no longer incorporated but the homestead is still there. The original home was a one room cabin from wood on the property. For the first year they lived in there RV which was a covered wagon. I praise you for your willingness to raise your children this way.

Whoa! I'm blown away by the daily workload outside the build. I had no idea of ALL the activity taking place in the background behind the scenes. Focus, Planning and Positivity, not to mention your "Have fun while you work" attitude is the key to your success! My problem currently is my dad is in a nursing home in WI with dementia, but when he passes, I would LOVE to take my mini me to different homestead places so she can see how “hard work” feels. My cousin also has started a homestead in Missouri, and we’re definitely planning on going there too so she can see how much hard work it entails. Love your whole family and love you!! ❤️😊

Congrats on another day of content! We did every day for a long time and it is a TON of work even if a show is only 5-10 minutes. We have 16 kW of lithium batteries now - had 20kW of lead acid that we replaced when we upgraded our solar system last fall. Old batteries are destined to be added to the same battery type in the studio. Thanks for sharing!

So glad a stumbled on this channel! Great vibes on here and you are so funny too! You have a beautiful family and its great to see you all working together and enjoying it...well most of it... lol! I'm not sure if you know about the My Little Homestead channel. It's another family out in the desert building earthbag building, raising goats, chickens, etc. One of the sons put together a hydroponic garden system using fish as the fertilizer for the plants, as well as providing another food source. Not sure what your future plans are for your place, but they give so many great ideas, and are fun to watch. Can't wait to see what you guys come up with! It's been great finding another channel with positivity, great ideas and is enjoyable to watch. 99 is a hoot! I swear that dog is like Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, his top is made out of rubber, his bottom is made out of springs and he's bouncy, trouncey fun, fun, fun, fun, fun!🐯💜

Gotta say - if I were to do a channel, you can bet your last dollar I will also post when and as much as I choose because outside of RU-vid, there is an entire life to live. You ARE the only hyperadobe build in the US that I've found, so yeah, I just might watch every nail go in, but it's a just me thing, lol. I will build hyper- or super- adobe, I think a hacienda style I think I've settled on - and oddly I kind of do like the red worms look for an art studio. Now go take a nap - you wore me out listening to your schedule.

This answered the questions I had, found you guys and was hooked even if I didn’t know everything. Redundant but if you guys haven’t seen my little homestead they have a bunch of EB buildings and experimented with flooring in each you might find something you like! love you guys

Howdy, I was wondering if you thought to put a exhaust fan up in the wall by the ceiling that way if it get hot inside you could cool it down really fast??? Thanks Bill

Have you considered cooling tubes with slats on the top area to vent air?

Have you thought of using the water tanks that you can put into walls to create more thermal mass for your home?

Also PVC can be bent using a heat gun so you can create curves rather than 90º angles. Just pack the inside of the pipe with sand first so you don't collapse it at the bend.

I haven’t looked into strawbale construction enough to know for certain about it’s flammability, but it seems me that earthen walls for an electrical substation would be infinitely preferable to straw. Dirt don’t 🔥.

You will need a well... You cannot depend on the city people's water supply or just the rain water... To grow food you need a lot of water... Even if the water is restructured you still need a lot of water...

Why not building a kind of hacienda with separate small mushrooms earth-bad buildings. Small then fast to build. Each of the kids having its own little mushroom bedroom. With of course a kitchen&eating mushroom and a bath mushrooms.
