Starmer doesn’t like high taxes and the cash giveaway - the Tories have taxed to pay for keeping people at home during the pandemic and handouts to people on low incomes that are struggling. Isn’t that what Labour would have done? He’s dissing taxation but is going to tax private schools out of existence and therefore more will enter the state system. Hypocrisy of the highest order.

The long period of negotiation ensures that the compromises which all parties have to make are discussed in detail in order to maximise the chance that the new government will be stable The result is a parliament in which most voters are represented and a government in which a majority are represented unlike the UK where smaller parties are shut out of parliament and the government usually has less than 50% of the popular vote. The Dutch have perhaps 50% more governments than the UK and while the Netherlands is certainly not perfect I think you would be pushed to show that it is less effectively governed than the UK.
